Breakfast great and the staff were very helpful and polite especially the chef who cooked my breakfast most days great chef and personally was always very helpful and happy
Nothing apart i wasn't staying longer
Exceptional warm Scottish welcome! More like being in a family-run guest-house than a hotel. Every member of staff was extremely friendly, including the energetic young black Labrador who acts as part-time barman in the lively pub, where I have met many friendly locals. Breakfast delicious, generous and perfectly cooked. The Carlton is not a modern, soul-less hotel. For someone like me, who appreciates genuine heart-felt hospitality, creaky stairs and old prints on the walls, it is full of old-world charm and character. I have been in the hospitality industry for more than thirty years, have traveled the world all my life and built and operated a 200-room hotel. This was not my first stay at the Carlton and I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Forres. It is not just that I appreciate a comfortable stay, I love staying there just for the enjoyment of being there. I look forward to my next visit.

Great location
Very dated no hot water in shower
Staff were nice and friendly. I only needed a bed for a few hours as was up at 4am, so the room was basic but perfect for my needs.Room was very clean.
Just a bit dated and basic, but as I said, fir the price and duration of my stay it suited me
Central location and dog friendly.
Bar and pool areas are very tired and could do with a revamp/refurb. Staff absolutely lovely and friendly. We would definitely return
Breakfast was good. Room clean enough.
Shared bathroom. Should have got in first as it was quite sickly after the people next door got out and left it. No turn around of bathroom so had to endure a dirty bathroom.
The staff were helpful and friendly. Prices were great and facilities were excellent. I will look at staying there again. I have informed my friends about my stay and recommended it.
The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. Also, the breakfast was excellent! Chef was very good and very helpful too. The staff and breakfast are what makes me rate this hotel high. The room had everything you need. The location is also perfect, right in the centre of the town.
The room was a bit dark and unfortunately the bed uncomfortable. There was also a window that rattled through the night…it was a very rainy and windy night though. I didn’t notice the ear plugs provided till morning.

It was a bit difficult to work out the hot water in the shower but it was not the end of the world.
This property is in an ideal location right in the heart of the town. The facilities are very clean, and there is a kettle, tea, coffee, milk and biscuits and a hairdryer provided. Breakfast was also lovely with very friendly staff.
The only gripe was the beds. The mattresses are very old and worn down, not the comfiest and very creaky which disturbed sleep each time you turned over.
A well maintained, traditional building with character. In the centre of town. Great value
Nothing at this price point.
Welcoming, friendly and efficient staff who went out of their way to be helpful.
Can't think of any detrimental things to say.
The bed was incredibly comfortable and I had a great night sleep here. The staff were all friendly and made me feel very welcome. They all deserve credit for the effort they put into running the hotel and pub.
The breakfast wasn't great.
Great location. Breakfast was good. Staff were friendly
The room got quite cold at night and I couldn’t get the shower hot.
Location, breakfast, staff and bar
Staff were very friendlyThe room was very cosy and well equippedBreakfast was very niceTokens for free drink in bar was bonusZara was a star, trying to placate grumpy guests.
Hot water completely failed in morning. Not temperature, no water at all.We had a water leak from the roof of our room, may have been connected to hot water issue.UHT milk was curdled.
Comfortable, clean and great staff.
Shared bathroom, but my room was so cheap I didn't mind.
