Pros +
- I have stayed at The Ramnee a number of times over the past 20+ years and I have always enjoyed my time there. The staff are extremely friendly and go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable.
- The bar was very pleasant and the food was lovely.
- It was only a one night stay so not really enough time to evaluate properly but was pretty impressive all really round. First class breakfast, really clean hotel , staff very helpful.
Cons -
- The very limited menu also the drinks were very expensive. It also came as a shock when 20% vat was added to the whole bill. At no time when booking were we told the cost of the room was excluding vat nor was the food menu. This needs to be addressed as an additional £80 charge was totally unexpected. We use booking.com for most of our travels and haven't come across this before.
- Nothing to dislike.
- It’s a dated hotel that has had better times. Desperately needs an upgrade.

Grand old hotel, a Forres establishment , conveniently located. Friendly staff. Good restaurant. Easy private parking.
It’s a dated hotel that has had better times. Desperately needs an upgrade.
Attractive appearance, gardens location
Was a little more tired than photos suggested, extra £15 charge for dog which wasn’t stated on booking.
comfortable but hungry
breakfast very poor one tiny sausage one small slice bacon one egg one knife thick imitation stornoway black pudding thats it
Dinner was lovely, staff very friendly and helpful. We ate in the bar, which was a nice area to dine in.
nothing to complain about, staff friendly and helpful, would definitely stay again
The room was light and airy with a big window with an attractive view from the back of the hotel. It was nicely furnished with a wooden dressing table and a comfortable bed. The breakfast was generally good with a good choice of continental items and cooked Scottish breakfast.
One of our party had poached eggs which tasted of vinegar which he didn’t like. There was no marmalade though there was a choice of jams or honey.
Room - Bed was comfortable and slept well. Bathroom facilities also good with decent shower ! Good choice at Breakfast. Top up facilities for tea tray were freely available at Reception.
Nobody on Reception on arrival. One person doing bar & reception duties at the time. No automatic room refreshing, had to request via tag although was informed of this beforehand. Looked forward to the fish / chips meal but so disappointed. looked like it had come out of a box . Uniform oblong shaped piece of fish & frozen chips / peas. Had to request Tartare Sauce. Having said this other bar meals were acceptable ! Could not turn down room radiator so room was very hot. Had to open window. Reported this on departure.
Free parking, easy check in, nice staff, good location, good breakfast etc
Stayed at the Ramnee a few times rooms are lovely very comfortable bed. Tea and coffee facilities in room with lovely ginger biscuits. Breakfast very good. Did not eat evening meal at hotel this time but have done before and food is always very good
There was nothing I didn't like and cannot suggest any improvements
Room was very clean, good choice with menus
No lift but stairs was an easy climb
Very good roomGood breakfast and evening meals
Small gap between shower and wall made access to the shower difficult. Minor issue overall.
Nothing. It ruined my memory of what used to be a fabulous hotel. The only thing I liked was the memory of the building and a hotel that used to care about it’s guests.
A hotel that has been ruined by underwhelming staff. A child’s birthday party that went on from 11am until after 10pm. Staff who didn’t care and a bar that closed at 7.15pm because there weren’t enough guests to keep it open!! I paid £270 for my 2 night stay.
The location was excellent and ideal for parking the car. The hotel was comfortable and relaxing.
Unfortunately the shower was not working but was reported on the way out. I enjoyed a bath instead.
Great staff - welcoming and helpful with local information/history - and also dog friendly
Breakfast was exceptional with a very good menu, Happy to change to accommodate wishes of guests
The staff were very friendly and bent over backwards for us2nd room we were upgraded too was beautiful. Wee complaint would be the shower head needs upgraded.
The classic double we were given, not great. Loo seat didn't fit, mattress too soft, and shower broke. However, on complaining upgraded straightaway to a beautiful room.Breakfast limited. The bonus questions we've rated on the 1st room.Hotel could do with redecorating
Quiet. And very good if intend to take your doggy too.
Spacious and clean/comfortable
Being a local the Ramnee hotel is the best out of the hotels in town with really friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere.
