    Pros +

    • Overall view
    • Pool and sauna areas good if a little busyStaff were friendly and food and drinks were good

    Cons -

    • Some parts of the decor were a bit tired and needed some tlc - a stain on the ceiling and a boiler cupboard left undone and not very sightly . Nothing too off putting, just could have been better. Also the changing rooms in the gym/spa were a bit old and dated.
    • Old baths needs refreshment , cigs smell in the spa bar , unhappy vaitress , messed up valentines dinner , rush and un organised staff . Tips goes to managers event if staff is ruining around the tables , so poor and micro management behaviour , food dry and nothing special ( rush visible in the kitchen ) , saunas overloaded , laud people , no change to relax , some rules should be applied to get a full spa experience . Good luck
    • Room was very lacking,- shower didn't work and dripped all night and was over the bath wedged into an alcove so hard to get in.Tv very small and hidden behind door to bathroom no lamps so only overhead light and no beside tables near to the bed. Not enough coffee/tea and no biscuits. Compared to friends room that was far superior but had paid same price for was very disappointed. Manager offered a part refund which I had to chase up a week later

The property had a lot of character , the staff were very friendly and accommodating

The long walk to rooms and also in need of some refurbishing and painting

    7FriarPosted on: 2-18-2026

    Breakfast is good.

Spa crowded, kids in spa area when they should not have been. Hard to use facilities as so small.

Me and my friend came to stay at the hotel and we would definitely recommend it. We was very pleased with the location, the size of the room, how clean it was but the most important thing was how well the staff treated us. The staff were very friendly. After having a problematic evening, the staff (Mark) was very vigilant and took control of the situation.

    Nothing!

Room was spacious, warm and and well furnished. Bathroom fixtures modern and high quality.Food, both in the bar and restaurant exceeded my expectations.

Corridors / approach to pool and gym area a bit unwelcoming and badly signed.

Room was very nice, a good size, very comfortable beds.

Expensive breakfast, not great choice for hot food, hotel was very busy so dining room was very noisy

Location is great. The reception staff were wonderful and explained everything. The facilities on offer are good.Room was big with a great comfortable bed.

Breakfast was poor for room service. On the first day it was not great and on the second day I was supposed to get this between 7.30am and 8am as I had a team meeting in my room at 8.15am. This did not arrive and I had to phone reception and the night porter had forgot to pick up my ticket!. The lady on reception quickly remedied this so well done to her! Also there was no hotel info in the room.

Room was nice. Person in bar was really good and friendly. Staff at breakfast were good

Receptionist on arrival and spa staff not very nice. The fact you had to walk through a function and bar to get to your room was really poor and not nice for those people in lovely frocks to have guests walking through either. The spa was dirty changing rooms broken doors on lockers. Generally in need of cleaning. The restaurant evening staff were very unhelpful and flippant. The guests above were noisy and despite complaining this carried on for 90 mins after I complained.

    8AllanPosted on: 2-9-2026

Atmosphere in the building and friendliness of staff

Lights beaming through window all night (room too light)

    10DawnPosted on: 2-9-2026

Great breakfast and evening meal .Pool and sauna rooms amazing .Gym was clean and very well set up.

Our room was located next to wedding reception venue with music playing till just after 12 probably would have been better to put the wedding guests in the rooms near the venue and other guests in quieter rooms

    6CarolePosted on: 2-6-2026

Large beds, comfortable. Large TV. Nice breakfast.

Executive room, 501, not as expected. Door hanging off unit. Shower grouting black in places. Heater not hot enough. Duvet not warm enough and pillows hard. A mix of pillows would have been better. Two people smoking at the door that leads to outside verandah walk. Heavy smokers obviously as they were always there. Made me wonder if people were housed there as temporary accommodation. Shame that this beautiful hotel is not quite up to the standard it should be.Spa not the greatest. Felt tired and outdated. Jacuzzi cold as part of the pool.Smokers at main door on Saturday night. Rubbish in doorway including sanitary product.Would only stay again if there was a good offer on.
