About

Formerly a 17th-century rectory, Lords of the Manor is set in 8 acres of secluded gardens and parkland. With 4 AA Red Stars, it is one of the top 200 hotels in the country, and offers delicious award-winning food. Each bedroom is individually designed, with elegant furnishings. Some rooms have views of the parkland and pond, or the walled gardens and Upper Slaughter Hill. Lords of the Manor has been awarded four AA Rosettes for its fine food and offers a choice of two dining styles. Atrium at Lords of the Manor is a fine dining restaurant. Here Head Chef, Charles Smith, showcases his culinary skills with a signature tasting menu, priced at £130 per person. Open Wednesday to Sunday with one sitting at 6.45pm. The second restaurant, The Dining Room, is for guests wishing to a choose from à la carte menu but in a less formal dining environment. The Dining Room is available every day from 6pm to 9pm. With a peaceful Cotswold location, the hotel is surrounded by pretty villages. Longborough, with its opera house, is a 15-minute drive away, while Oxford can be reached in an hour by car.

The hotel is in an old manor house and very quintessential English. The garden is very beautiful. Being a gardener myself, I had a good conversation with Mike, the hotel head gardener.

I loved everything about our stay. The property is set in a fabulous countryside setting, immersed in nature in a tranquil, quintessential village. It was everything I hoped for and was looking for in my visit in the Cotswolds. The grounds of the property are just beautiful - we were able to enjoy them thanks to the beautiful weather in April - walking around and reading books in the garden enjoying the sun. The interior of the property was nothing short of cozy & welcoming - we enjoyed some tea in the bar and was just lovely. As this was an anniversary trip, the hotel upgraded our room which was a very much appreciated gesture on their side. Our room was comfortable, airy and large with room to put our luggages and replenished daily with tea and cookies. Breakfast was fantastic as well - with cold and food options available. A note of mention goes to the wonderful staff which was welcoming, warm and helpful throughout all our stay - even leaving a note in the room for our anniversary. We left the property refreshed and very happy. I personally did much research ahead of our trip to the Cotswolds and if you're like me, I'll say stop - pick this hotel and don't go any further. Should I come back to the Costwolds, this will be my first accomodation choice.

Absolutely no notes - everything was fantastic.

Wonderful place to stay. Sorry we were only staying one night for a local wedding. Stunning property. Only experienced the bar and breakfast in the morning but both were excellent! Thank you. Pricy but as expected for the area I guess.

The staff was super friendly and helpful! My friend and I were celebrating a milestone birthday and they upgraded our rooms free of charge, and were very flexible with our dinner booking and check in when we were running behind. Our room was beautiful and comfortable, and I loved the character and natural light we got. The breakfast was great each morning and the one dinner we had was delicious. The grounds are also lovely to walk in.

I just loved the calm, peace and comfort - Neil (I think his name was) was especially kind thoughtful and very welcoming as I checked in - this is a great little secret of a place and breakfast was one of the best I’ve had in an age - I hate swanking about wonderful places as you sort of want to keep special places quiet so it’s possible to return

Breakfast was great. Location is beautiful. Staff were very attentive and friendly.

Building work was going on. Suggest a skip cover or screen would have helped hide the skip.

It was in an amazing setting and the facilities were nothing short of luxurious. Staff were friendly and eager to please. The food was amazing.

I was disappointed with the view from our room. There were two windows and neither had a view. There were a couple of small issues which had if not been four star I would have overlooked. Both bath robes had broken belt loops so every time you took it off the belts dropped to the floor.

Amazing breakfast, great service and excellent room.

Location was exceptional and staff very attentive. Room was excellent and large enough for my husband and I to relax in the seating area and enjoy our time away.

Beautiful hotel and gardens in stunning location. All staff very attentive and courteous. Superb breakfast.

    Absolutely nothing

We had a lovely time and sadly only one night. Staff were exceptionally good and welcoming. Our room was spacious and comfortable. While it was by the road, there was no noise at all. The weather was cold, but the room warm. How it would be in the summer I can't tell. Grounds beautiful even in December. Restaurant was fine.

Can't think of anything apart from the price which sadly is the norm for all hotels now.

    10AshleyPosted on: 1-6-2025

The staff were very friendly, the room was clean and spacious, and the restaurant was brilliant. We were made to feel very welcome and the whole experience was wonderful. I am looking forward to returning soon.

There is nothing I would change. Everything was great.

Staff was super friendly, though sometimes a little slow

We always stay here when we go to the Cotswolds. It's old school charm and quality, comfortable, clean, incredible staff. Great sized rooms, bed amazing, softest linens, amazing tea making facilities. Great bar and lounges. Wonderful surroundings for a walk.
