The staff was very friendly. The hotel very clean, the room was very nice and the food was good. The hotel has a history and was very interesting. Decided to there again at the end of our trip.

Conveniently located, reaching Cirencester (which is beautiful and has plenty of restaurants) in less than 5 minutes by car. Hotel has ample parking which makes the arrival stress free. The restaurant and bar are nice, serving great breakfast.

Unfortunately, we had a very difficult sleep due to a tattered bed that was both slanted/sagged and makes a lot of noise with every movement. Maybe we got unlucky with a particularly old bed. The wall is also very thin, I could hear the snoring from the guest next room. It is very difficult to rate our experience highly without a decent sleep.

Spa and Dining experience was exceptional

The room - old, basic and not very comfortable. Rooms looked out onto bins and a wall

    Really didn’t feel welcoming

Top floor, spouse has breathing difficulties- no elevator, only stairs to third floor.

Room was great but needed curtains on the entrance hall window as light door through under the door. Staff were really great. Very efficient, very helpful and very friendly. Dinner was very good. A great location for walks and access to Ivy Lodge where we went for a wedding

Comfortable bed, good sized room and wonderful helpful staff.

Evening menu was a little restrictive and expensive.

    The breakfast was nice.

The dinner which was 3rd class; wrong food arrived for my husband, and my food was extremely tasteless and Luke warm but we were just simply too tired to complain. We will not come back!

Had a lovely stay, all the hotel staff were very friendly and food very good!

We was in room 25 and there must have been a meeting room near by as from very early could hear people having a meeting which isnt ideal. The rooms weren't as clean as expected bathroom very dusty - so hadn't been cleaned properly. Spa should also be included.

Woken early by bins/ room 26. Clean and pleasant staff, just lacked that extra touch. I arrived late, so knew I’d miss food, but not asked to check, I had 2 large bags, not asked if I’d like help. No “ there’s the bar madam” etc etc Just here yr key…. It’s wasn’t bad, I just didn’t the feeling of being looked after.

When we arrived, I discovered we were assigned a room to the back of the hotel (with respect to the entrance), very close to the main road. As my partner and I are very light sleepers, I asked the hotel staff if we could swap our room with another one available not so close to the hotel and the staff very kindly provided another option for us which we ended up choosing. It's nice to have the spa facilities available on your doorstep - even though bear in mind they are not included in your stay (I knew this ahead of booking so all well). The staff at breakfast was also very nice and helpful.

I personally would not choose this property again for a leisure trip with my partner given the value for money ratio. From the photos of the property it looked like it was immersed in nature in the countryside but really it's just off a quite busy and noisy road. The hotel looks much nicer in the photos on Booking but looked quite tired in real life, especially the room we were staying in - a dark, poorly lit room with stains on the carpet and on the walls. While I was aware the spa was not included in the stay, it was advertised that hotel guests had a discounted entry fee - this ended up being just £5 pounds off the regular price if you were not staying at the hotel. The spa is very nice but also very small - I would say it's perfect for a 1-2 hours slot. Personally, knowing that you don't get much of a discount staying at the hotel - would advise others to stay elsewhere and come for a nice spa afteroon for an hour or 2. We've been elsewhere around the Cotswolds where we experienced better value for money. I would recommend the hotel for people travelling across the country for work - it's every conveniently located close to Cirencester and just off the road - but would not pick this again for a romantic gateaway for 2.
