    Pros +

    • One of those places that quietly impresses you. It’s set in a beautiful period building in a historic part of the Cotswolds — full of character, charm, and just the right amount of creaky-floorboard personality. It makes a perfect base for exploring all the famous Cotswold spots, and it’s genuinely lovely coming back there after a day out.The food was very good — proper, satisfying, and clearly done with care. But what really makes the place is the people. Dee and all the staff we met were warm, attentive, and naturally helpful — the kind of hospitality that makes you feel welcome without any fuss.
    • Lovely owners, premises, location, rooms comfortable and equipped. Beer in the garden after a long walk: bliss. It has that charm that you hope for. A place run by real people.
    • Warm welcome in beautiful old country house hotel. Owners are on site and very customer friendly, food excellent pub style grub, excellent breakfast served with a smile! Room was warm and comfortable. Peaceful situation enhanced by rear garden area. Bed very clean and comfortable, slept very well.

    Cons -

    • Prefer a shower to bath, needs updating to modern shower facility. Shabby sheik all clean but could do with a refresh of decor but not unpleasant.
    • Could put a small gate at back of hotel and fencing across where the cars park this would make it very secure for dogs as hotel near a very busy road
    • Restaurant a little cool, no wine menu.

Lovely building. Restaurant good. Rooms clean and bathroom nice and modern. Great location just a 15 min drive to Bibury etc.

Breakfast a little on the scimpy side. Buffet breakfast could be better stocked.

It was a quaint little place

It was dirty. The carpet was stained, the blinds in the bedroom did not work correctly and they were covered in dust. There is a horrible smell in the room

I would like to take the opportunity and thank the staff at the Inn for their kindness, hospitality and warm welcome. The food is great and plenty, the room is nice and comfortable. The ambience was very Christmassy. Thank you, Dee! And to all the others members of staff.

Lovely period accommodation, which had all the charm of a property that age. Our hosts were welcoming. The staff were friendly and helpful. Food was great!

There wasn’t a shower in our room. But it wasn’t a problem.

A property that was full of character, with a very cosy feel! We fell in love with the pub as soon as we arrived, the roaring fire, friendly hosts and lovely food really made us feel at home!! Highly recommend.

The restaurant food was quite nice and breakfast was adequate but not particulary amazing compared to other stays. The staff were polite and efficient, but not overtly friendly.

The hotel is in desperate need of an update. Furniture is very old, mismatched with marked surfaces. The bed cover was old with stains (but sheets and towels were spotless), curtains, curtain tie backs and rugs/ carpets were very grubby, doors had dirty marks around the handles. The bathroom was depressing to say the least. It had only a bath, no shower and only a hand held shower head with no wall mounting, there was a bare bulb hanging from the ceiling, light shade MIA. Interestingly, there are NO listing photos of any bathrooms on Booking, com. We ate dinner in their restaurant one evening, which is a quaint old pub, but the cloth covered chairs and chair backs were in desperate need of a clean, surfaces and decorative items were covered in very think dust. The owner mentioned that they bought the business 11 years ago and I don't think anything other than tables surfaces have been cleaned or dusted since. Not shown in any of the carefully shot photos on Booking.com, the hotel is on a very busy road that is VERY loud. We had a front room, facing the road, and despite our room being very hot at night, (heat source unknown as the wall radiator was cold), we were unable to open the window as the noise of traffic (mostly trucks during the night) made it impossible to sleep. I would not recommend this hotel.

Breakfast was very good, great choice. The pub inside the inn was very cosy, the old couple working there was also very nice and polite. Food at the pub was great!

    10DavidPosted on: 11-13-2025

Oldy worldy hotel/pub, with great bar and gardens. Excellent food with attentive hosts. Lovely rooms with a fresh bottle of water each day. Almost a first in the UK at this price point .Could not fault.

As we are quite elderly, a walk in shower instead of a bath with hand held shower would have suited us a lot better. Highly recommended
