- Staff were very friendly and helpful. The location and ambience are lovely.
- Staff very helpful. It was all just what you want from a hotel: nice room, good evening meal and a fabulous breakfast.
Cons -
- Just had a few creaky steps but was excellent for the age of the building
- The hotel is a little old-fashioned. Breakfast was a little unimaginative - no fruit on offer, for example. The TV controller didn't work properly and only Freeview channels were available.

Lovely location and quiet. Close to Findon Village for good pubs and restaurants if needed. Hotel has lovely rooms and a good menu if wanting to eat at the hotel
All good
very pleasant at arrival desk, breakfast staff. Lovely breakfast menu beautifully made. Room was spotless, warm, easy parking, no wifi hassle, quiet
The position in the village Friendliness of staff Good food Good voice on breakfast menu The bed was comfortable
The room was cold on arrival and were told the heating would not go on until 6.30
The room was lovely.
The cooked breakfast in the morning was not hot.Although all the ingredients were of quality.Sausages were abit over cooked. My friends eggs seamed not to be cooked in places
Nice room with comfortable bed . Excellent breakfast .
An event at the hotel meant lots of people in lounge and bar and we couldn’t use either when we arrived and went to the local pub. Dinner was set up in the bar and not the terrace restaurant as we would have expected . No hot water in the morning . Told staff at breakfast and was told they would get back to us. When we were checking out reminded them and was told they had a boiler issue . At that point asked if we wanted to use a shower in another room. Obviously too late at that point and then had £10 taken off the bill - odd.
Very convenient for a South Downs walkStaff were very welcoming Food was very tastyBed and Bed linen were comfy
Some areas of the hotel could have been warmer on a cold January night but we had our dinner in the lounge by the open fire which was fine
Building of characterLog fire in front lounge
Breakfast was dominated by the radio broadcasts
This hotel is quite beautiful, and features a fireplace upon entry. There is also a walled garden, which I imagine would be delightful during the summer months. The breakfast was lovely, and the staff were very friendly. The bed was comfortable, and the room included a kettle with tea, coffee, and biscuits. A television with Netflix and Amazon is available for guests who have their own login.
The room became quite cool, and we could distinctly feel a draft near the window. It appeared that an effort had been made to prevent the draft. Our location directly above the main entrance meant we could hear other guests speaking loudly. The illumination from the hallway permeated our room during the nighttime hours. It would be beneficial if the door were to fit more snugly to prevent this, and improved curtains would be appreciated, as the current blinds permit light from outside to enter in the early morning. Our shower was not functional, which was not a major issue as our stay was only for one night. Upon informing the reception desk as we departed, the representative mentioned that it could be temperamental and required a longer running time. We had, in fact, allowed it to run for ten minutes, with no success.
The property is an old manor . The decor appropriate for style of house . Parking was straight outside . The. Village is small narrow lanes with a lot of parked cars . Very close to amenities . The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was just lovely . The room we had was very comfortable with a large bed .
We went in late dec . It was generally cold in all areas . The reception , the room and at breakfast . It was disappointing and for that reason I wouldn’t go in winter again . It did spoil the stay despite it being very comfortable
Lots of character and lovely Xmas decorations for this time of year. A very good breakfast offering & the evening meal was excellent too. Ample parking .
Reception rooms could have been a bit warmer. But not unexpected for an old building where the weather suddenly turned much colder outside.
The Location was good and at night it was quiet. I’m not sure what else to say really as there wasn’t a lot we did like about it. It has the potential to be an amazing hotel but unfortunately it needs a huge refurb to bring it to life and up to standard.
Where to start… the room was freezing cold when we arrived. The same in the bar/restaurant as the fire was left to go out. The windows don’t close properly in the room and really need a good paint/sorting out or replacing. One window (please see photo) has an ‘L’ shaped bracket screwed into it… surely this can’t be safe and possibly preventing people leaving the property in the event of fire? Unfortunately we found the property to be shabby and tatty. It really needs a lot of money spent on the property to bring it up to standard. The dark blue chairs in the room were nice but there was a nasty, white, crusty mark on one of them, I have no idea what that was but I’d rather not have had the chair in the room! The arm of this particular chair, the upholstery had pulled away from the chair itself. There was broken glass by the main entrance of the property and cigarette butts everywhere! The bar/restaurant had many locals in, who were very loud, shouting over one another to be heard! They were obviously enjoying themselves, which was fine but it meant the residents could not enjoy a quiet meal. The food was ok’ish. The parsnip soup was nice, the main course of chicken and stuffing pie, mainly consisted of very thick pastry and very little content. The mash was good as was the carrot and parsnip. The Crème brûlée was good too. Breakfast was ok nothing special but ok. Would we stay again?… my answer would be no as there are better options available. The photos on the website made the place look amazing but the reality fell short.
Quiet locationFriendly and helpful staffComfortable bed Gluten free breakfast options
Nice staff.Lovely foyer with the fire.Great location.Very pretty & Christmasy outside
The place is run down & in need of some love & attention to detail. The lampshades were dusty. The radiators rusty. The blinds ripped.Basic tea & coffee sachets, no herbal tea or bottled water. The breakfast was ok, nothing special. Fruit salad old & boring. French toast, very basic without flavour. Poached eggs were hard.We booked a table for dinner for my husbands birthday & it was in the middle of a wake with the funeral flowers all around (I recently lost my dad, so it was very triggering...)It has such potential, but totally disappointing. I'd love to rebook, but not s chance until some love & care is put into the place
It’s a lovley place in a great lovely location , nice place overall , beds are really comfy and the rooms are nice
Our towels were dirty , unfortunately the serviettes on table were dirty stains on them. Unfortunately there was a power cut whist we were there and there was no back up plan for this or any form of apology for the inconvenience. They didn’t offer discount for this either. The breakfast table had rings of coffee stains on
Location. Pleasant staff.
Shower pressure was very poor. Decor was very tired.
Lovely location. Staff were welcoming and helpful
Very noisy in the morning. Recommend soft closure on doors for guests comfort. Room was ok but metal bed rattled everytime you moved. Also had a king size duvet cover with a double duvet in it so that made it uncomfortable. Dressing table chair did not fit under dressing table. Tall people will struggle with short shower hose. No no slip mat for the bath when showering. TV was limited
The location was perfect for my next days appointment. The Sunday Roast and breakfast were excellent. Staff were friendly and helpful and welcomed our dog. The room was spacious and bed comfortable.
Not a complaint as such, the hotel hot water boiler had tripped during the night, meaning no hot water to shower in the morning...
