Pros +
- Lovely property, friendly welcoming staff and the food was delicious.
- The room was very cute and the bed was comfortable. It was nice and quiet. The food was delicious!
- The bed was very clean and comfortable. The chap who did breakfast is very good, he does welcoming, cooking, serving, bill payment all with a smile.
Cons -
- The whole place is shabby and dirty. Furniture in lounge is dirty, broken. The food offered was limited and frozen not fresh as advertised. The presentation of food was awful, just a large plateful of food dropped on a platter. We were told initially that the last food order on Sunday was 7:30. on arrival we were told 6:30, we were told bar closes at 9:30, it actually closed before 9 :00 it was then made very obvious that guests were supposed to go elsewhere, the only place was the scruffy bedroom with only one very uncomfortable chair so Sunday evening we were in bed at 9:30. The landlady was abrupt and rude and very loud, not to be seen in the morning, the only breakfast staff was a single Polish chap who was left to run the whole place for breakfast. ( 10 people) The pictures on the website must have been taken many years ago as the whole place is not as it seems, it could great but requires at the very least a steam clean through and new lounge furniture and a gag for the landlady.
- Its a very old building but thats what you want.. well its what I wanted in staying in an old pub ... it was very nicely refurbished - clean comfortable rooms with a nice window overlooking the street... The bathroom was redone and clean and very efficient ... again very old pub so I wouldn't say didn't like I'd say I loved it.
- They had a very loud function one night of our stay which ran until 12.00. It was impossible to sleep. I don’t know what they should do about that? Sleeping guests and function goers are mutually exclusive!

this was our favorite place on a weeklong trip.. food was great (pub food) and breakfast was the best of the trip too, and included with the room. Nice road to walk along in the morning. Nice atmosphere hanging out and eating and drinking pints in the pub ... all very friendly locals nicest people you could meet. We were welcomed warmly by the guy behind the bar on arrival. Tip would be pay your restaurant bill for your room the night before you leave. Parking was invariably right out front for us. Most patrons must walk to the pub (real locals)

Friendly accommodating staff - We only stayed one night and left before breakfast so didn't get to sample the food. The staff were more than happy to sort us a packed lunch.
Very friendly staff and very good food.

Food was amazing, location is lovely. Staff were so friendly & welcoming, couldn’t do enough for you. Room was lovely & comfortable.
Bathroom in our room was quite small, but we were in their cheapest room, the other members of our party booked upgraded rooms which had very spacious bathrooms.Car park a little hard to find as we didn’t see the sign very easily, but is about 1 min walk from the pub.
First and foremost, the food. Delightful and very good value. The pizza was delicious, thin and crispy and tasted very fresh. The breakfast options were very good as well. The staff were welcoming, and very hard working. Lovely aesthetic. The location was ideal for Longleat, which was our reason for visiting. Bar was lively in the evening, and dog friendly which suited us dog lovers perfectly. Even though the bar was lively, it was still quiet enough to go to our room and rest comfortably.
The only dislike we had was the bed itself and the floor in the room were incredibly creaky. Being a heavier person, I moved the floor when I walked and it was loud as well. The floor moved so much, I knocked over the mirror on the dressing table. The bed was loud every time we moved at night, which disturbed sleep somewhat.Only issue the whole stay.
Beautiful building and decoration, great pub, great restaurant, great room, lovely people, good prices. My room was a bit warm due to the unseasonably good weather, so I had my window open overnight which let in a fair bit of road noise. If you're a light sleeper and they have availability you might like to ask for a room further away from the main road. Overall though, this was a fantastic stay for me and I will be back!
I was recommended the venue by colleagues local to the area and wasn't disappointed. From the welcome on entrance to the check out could not fault the whole experience and the friendliness of the staff. The pub is an old stone property and full of character with a mixture of old and modern. It was sunny and I sat outside whilst waiting for my colleague, they noticed that my drink was finished and came out and asked if I would like another and brought it out to me. The bedroom was lovely, down pillows and quilt, which I am a huge fan of and a super comfortable bed. Super fluffy towels for the bathroom. A good selection of tea, coffee and hot chocolate in the bedroom with biscuits. I ate with a colleague in the restaurant in the evening and the burger and fries were excellent although when I saw the pizzas that were coming out of the kitchen, wish I was really hungry to have one of those too. A good selection of breakfast options and I chose the crushed avocado on toast with sundried tomatoes, 2 poached eggs and spinach and was one of best cooked options I have had. If I have the opportunity to be on business in the area again, I will definitely stay at the Oakhill Inn again.
The staff were friendly. Great food and comfortable room. Quiet location.
Staff and Locals very welcoming - only stayed for 1 night but will be staying again in the futureLovely atmosphere and great food and breakfast
Beautiful traditional county pub. Clean and comfortable room. Fantastic roast. Anywhere that takes three dogs without charging extra is a huge win. Would definitely stay again. Highly recommended
Lovely old pub , great food . We stopped 1 night on our way to Dartmoor. Lovely room , very comfortable bed and a fab breakfast in the morning .
Fantastic cooked breakfast selection.Good location. Friendly staff.
WiFi was a bit weak. I stayed for two nights, but no-one checked my room and replaced breakfast menu or emptied waste bins.
Clean, spacious and homely. Amazing food for dinner and breakfast
This was a wonderful place. Very friendly and welcoming staff, amazing rooms and great food. I booked as it was close to a location we were visiting, but would book again, just to re-experience the Oakhill Inn itself.
There was nothing I didn't like.
Staff were very friendly and helpful, food for breakfast & dinner was excellent. Bed was comfortable, was nice to have water and coffee making in the room. Pub served a great selection of real ales.
Floor of the bedroom creeked alot when walking around and the room was very warm
Business stay - staff very accommodation to help me help my delayed colleague who was going to arrive after closing time. Breakfast was well made, lovely interior decor.
My bed mattress seemed to have suffered from dips so made it uncomfortable to sleep in.
They were very accommodating as the restaurant was busy due to a quiz night and however they found me a little table and the food was excellent. friendly at breakfast also.I have stayed a few times never had a problem.
Unfortunately, I booked a small room with a tiny bathroom so next time I will know better.
