    Pros +

    • Easy to find, convient location, clean room. Good food, drinks and friendly staff.
    • Friendly and helpful staff, excellent breakfast and dinner, easy parking. The hotel and the village it's situated in have a warm and friendly atmosphere.
    • The staff were friendly and efficient, and the food was excellent. A great pub hotel in a quiet location.

    Cons -

    • Despite being late September, with no heating on and keeping the window open, the room was still surprisingly hot overnight.
    • The front staircase might be a slight challenge for some especially if a suitcase is heavy but there is an alternative staircase.
    • Room 3 was quite small and the bed was VERY squeaky.

Like the location in a quiet area and the overall style of the hotel and facilities.

The staff, the location and the food.

Room 3 was quite small and the bed was VERY squeaky.

Breakfast was very hot and very tasty. One of the best I've had.

The only downfall was the noisy floorboards in the room and upstairs.

An interesting building with some history, in a small, attractive village. A nice pub serving good lunchtime and evening food. The young lady behind the bar on Sunday evening was just lovely, she looked after us really well.

Our room was clean, if basic. Pillows were hard. Sadly, someone had used the toilet before we got in. The bathroom was spoiled by the smell of stale drainwater. Staff failed to point out a shortcut to our room, leaving us to carry luggage up and down several staircases. Anyone with mobility issues needs to ask for a ground floor room. It is a dog-friendly venue, so be prepared to share the pub and dining rooms with dogs the size of small ponies. If, like us, you get a neighbouring guest who rises at 04:45 and takes very long showers, forget sleep, as it’s an old building and noise travels.

Breakfast was delicious and cooked fresh to order.

Currently - be aware that Sunday evening there is a light bites, lunch menu, until 7pm and the bar closes at 8.30pm.For me, a good reason to have an early night after a long drive, but might catch other traveller's out if arriving later and expecting food and a drink. Please check in case this changes.

Exceptional ,we were late arriving and late for our meal - nothing too much trouble. Steak was sensational , highly recommend !

Good location. Staff very friendly and courteous. Evening meal was lovely. Room clean but bijou. Extractor fan outside the window was rather noisy through the night. Breakfast ok, sadly the coffee was undrinkable (in my opinion).

Great food, choice of beer and staff. Best sleep I have had for a while in any hotel. Small hiccup with breakfast unfortunately. Bought cute Easter white chocolate tractors and rabbits from reception.

Stayed for 1 night to attend an event nearby, staff were lovely and nothing to complain about with hotel/pub! Can definitely recommend.

Fantastic location. Friendly staff. Very clean.

Didn't like dogs in breakfast room.

    Evening meal was very good

Had to leave at 7am so could not have breakfast which was included in the price. An option to book without breakfast would be nice.

    8DavidPosted on: 3-24-2025

Breakfast good choice of buffett and menu

Bed was a bit small to what we are used to.

    7RuthPosted on: 3-12-2025

The staff were really friendly and dinner was wonderful. Breakfast not quite so good but the poor lady serving was run off her feet.

The bed in Room 3(double room) creaked every time you moved and was very hard indeed so neither of us had a good nights sleep but other than that everything was clean, very fresh and new and the service and food in the restaurant was really wonderful.
