Pros +
- Very comfy and charming staff. Very good bar for people with dogs to eat.
- We received a warm welcome and a room that exceeded our expectations - in style and comfort. The bathroom was large, had great water pressure and a claw-foot bath. The large bed meant we had a great night’s sleep plus the windows had shutters: a nice period touch. So often, country hall hotels can lack the culinary offerings to match the surrounding (or vice versa), however here the food was exquisite, and daring. It’s rare to have everything above par; the service, the food, decor and the building’s upkeep were spot on. Treat yourself.
- The hotel was clean, bed was comfortable, bathroom lovely, staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast and evening meal were very good. Location was ideal to drive into Lincoln.
Cons -
- The carpets!! Huge checked carpets absolutely ruined decor!
- It’d be nitpicking but, the large shower’s open-ended cabinet design meant we wet the floor even with mats! During breakfast service, someone was vacuuming the hall outside. It’s a small thing but it kinda made us feel a little ‘hurried’. I know these things need to happen but maybe 40 minutes later?
- Room was aging, it felt like a very expensive stay in an old people’s home. Room was too hot. Cleanliness wasn’t great. Room rate was wildly high for what was provided. Checked out early as didnt well at all. Such a shame.

Lovely setting and externals.

Selection was good and so was the serviceThe dinner we had the previous evening was very good the sea bass was excellent
I didn’t like the bacon and my poached eggs were slightly
Great location ,Lovely house .Really good choice of evening meal and breakfast .We spent 2 nights and loved it .The staff go over and beyond to make your stay as comfy as possible .
The staff were really nice and helpful, especially the lady on reception. The bathroom was definitely the best part with the deep bath.
The room was really nice its just a shame breakfast wasnt included after paying such a high price to stay one night.
A first class stay, great room, comfortable bed, food was first class and the staff were amazing !
The whole environment was excellent. Surroundings, building, members of staff and the food was all lovely. We will stay again in the future.
Outside space. Location and gardens were lovely.Communal areas were very nice too, especially the breakfast room.Breakfast was delicious.
We were disappointed by our room. Not as expected as per photos on Booking.com. It needed a refresh. Bathroom was small, badly laid out - no room to set toiletries and was mouldy. Door to room did not close easily.
The location was perfect, in the countryside but really close to Lincoln.
Parking was limited when we arrived
Beautiful building from outside and beautifully decorated lobby
Staying in the single room made me feel like I got scammed...when you look at photos of the other rooms, it makes no sense for that single room to be offered to guests. It should be a room that staff use for their own purposes
The restaurant is fantastic. Food quality, Staff, ambience all absolutely first rate. A beautifully kept, relaxed boutique style hotel that respects its history.
Nothing!
Very nice, clean, well presented and comfortable hotel in a great location. Excellent dinner and breakfast. Very friendly and helpful staff.
The bed was too firm for me but that is a personal preference.
Very friendly welcome, helpful staff. Superb menu and food. Very comfortable accommodation. Great location for visiting Lincoln (would recommend the cathedral roof tour). We took an Uber in and out for ease.
An exceptionally good hotel with first class rooms, superb food and incredibly helpful and nice staff
The EV charging point is actually just an external electric socket so of no use to a modern electric car.
Lovely hotel. Staff were professional, polite and friendly. The room was a good size. The bed was very comfortable. The shower was good and the bath towels were thick and fluffy. Breakfast choice was good and plentiful. There was a choice of hot food from the menu which was served to you at the table.
There was no safe in the room.
Great breakfast, very personal with locally sourced food of high quality. Gluten free options available too.
The hotel was lovely, the reception and restaurant staff were excellent. The Room and bathroom were very large and comfortable and the view was fantastic. It was good to be able to get the car in under cover too.
Only have a few issues. I booked the hotel nearly a month before our stay. The hotel emailed a number of times, twice the day before I arrived. At no point were we advised that the restaurant was extremely popular and they were fully booked both nights we stayed, All I wanted was a line to say "Our restaurant is very popular and we advise early booking to avoid disappointment." If I hadn't then done it it would have been my choice.Secondly I object to my wife and myself being referred to as "guys" only the bar staff did this no one else. Finally, The road outside the front is very noisy at night, if you're not used to it don't book a sea view.
Spotlessly clean and well presented, lovely gardens etc Fabulous breakfast made with quality ingredients.
Having part of breakfast served ion a low coffee table seemed cheap and weird to use. Just being in an appropriate table for the service.
