Pros +
- The inn had a lot of wonderful character, and the pub right downstairs was great. We were so appreciative that they were able to get us in for an early check in after a red eye flight. Easy walking distance to lots of places. Definitely recommend getting the breakfast!
- Location
- Very nice location and staff very friendly and helpful ?
Cons -
- Mattress was too soft and pushed against the radiator and curtain
- Only for me but the bed small my wife and daughter was fine ?
- Not enough room to name .!! all.. Our booked room not available due to a water leak ,so we were in the very worst room right at the top of dangerously rickety stairs ..Tiny bed due to another single bed crammed in corner .postage stamp size television. Other people we spoke to had lovely rooms ..Our room was squalid and not fit for purpose. Reasonable breakfast ,not worth 20 pounds .Will never go again or reccomend it to anyone . Please see for yourself

Loads of restaurants nearby good value for the money and breakfast really nice
Overall really good
Property has lots of character, bar is quite good and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was terrible, full English was very greasy and full of oil. Not worth the money.
Lovely establishment wonderful open fire in the bar which was great to sit around. The room was very good, warm, cosy and large. The shower was slightly under pressure but still functional. We had the full English breakfast beautifully presented.
I loved the building. it's unique. It's been kept in its original style with a few modern exceptions. Fantastic staff. In the centre of town, great would definitely go back
Lovely stay, lovely friendly helpful staff, wonderful breakfast, cosy welcoming bar and easy parking system. What more could you ask for? Will definitely stay again when in the area.
3rd time staying here. Good location for us, comfortable and clean
Our room was above the bar and the noise carried which was quite loud.
I booked a superior room through booking.com and got a dilapidated room 10’x10’ 1chair no wardrobe a failed shower the shower door hit the toilet on opening an neither of us got a good nights sleep as the bed was so small. Room 16 avoid
Great place to stay overnight. The bar area is gorgeous. Lovely open fires, beautifully lit and very atmospheric. The staff are very friendly and attentive. We really enjoyed our stay at the crown!
It was a really old building but needed to be up dated, room we had was over the bar so very nosey when bar was open.
The room was dated and did not like the shower room, the bed was uncomfortable and to small.
A period property with rooms to match. A little dated but very clean and comfortable
Squeaky bed.
Lovely bar with open fires and friendly staffHotel with loads of historical character and charm in a very convenient town centre location but with easily accessed free parkingBreakfast was really good, with local produce cooked well and attentive service
The charming room (Room 2 ) with original fireplace and sloping floors is lovely, however it would be better if the legs of the bed were adjusted (cut down or propped up) to ensure the bed is level. Sleeping head down and to one side is not ideal in a standard double - also the bed was much softer than we prefer which made it less comfortable too. The room we were in would easily accommodate a Kingsize bedThe bathroom is tired and the water pressure for the shower is very low indeed
The room was comfortable and cosy, the staff were very friendly and the full English breakfast was A*
The kettle didn’t work and I couldn’t get the shower to run hot.
Lovely room, clean and private..comfy beds.
Had to leave room for bathroom no ensuite.
The location was excellent and the staff were extremely kind and helpful, nothing was too much trouble.
The television in the room was a bit small for the size, need to read subtitles and this was a bit difficult while watching from the bed, the chairs weren't too comfortable to relax in.
Had an overnight stay to attend a family event. Check-in was very easy, very friendly staff who explained everything clearly. Bed very comfortable. Nice size bathroom with decent sized shower. The breakfast was delicious, freshly cooked with great high quality ingredients. Bonus was being able to sit in the downstairs pub and have a drink with the hubby before heading off to bed for the night especially after a very hectic day.
Can't think of anything.
Lovely historic inn, central to the market town, great atmosphere, and staff were welcoming and helpful. Food (breakfast) wax great. Beer was lovely.
The weather and the length of stay (wish it was longer)
