About
Housel Bay hotel is perched on nature's edge, at the most southerly tip of mainland UK. A largely undiscovered part of Cornwall, filled with dramatic and untouched wild beauty. Opening in the summer of 1894, the Victorian architecture was designed by famous Cornishman, Silvanus Trevail. Be guided by the seasons, from slow summer evenings in the garden to winter starlit skies and cozy storm watching by the fire. Do a lot, or simply nothing at all. Let the rhythms of nature restore you. The Cornish Coast Path runs through the hotel gardens and provides access east and west to many of the most stunning locations in the British mainland's most southerly county. The tidal beach can be reached from steps directly from the property. Every room has an private bathroom and a TV for guests to enjoy, and some also have a seating area. Please note, our images show the room types not the specific room you are booking. Housel Bay Hotel offers two unique restaurants serving breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. The Terrace features panoramic views of Housel Bay, a beautiful garden and the stunning Lizard Peninsula. Fallowfields restaurant has been awarded three rosettes, features an open kitchen, and offers a special tasting menu experience. Guests can enjoy local drinks in Marconi’s bar, the Cozy or in the beautiful garden with endless sea views. There is a yoga studio available for all guests, and a hidden beach just steps below the hotel.

Cons -
- Bathroom could use an update
- The hallways, they are dated and tired but I imagine are being updated. The whole of the downstairs area, view and cosy rooms all make up for this.

Wonderful location, delicious breakfast, really nice staff
This place is perched on a beautiful bluff, with peaceful trails you can stroll along in the early morning or throughout the day. I was only there for one night, but I truly wish I could have stayed longer. Breakfast on the terrace was a highlight—bright and cheerful, with a generous continental buffet and the option to order something hot from the menu. If not for the fog, the view would have been absolutely lovely. The staff were kind and helpful. I would definitely recommend this place and would gladly stay again.
Parking and room was very small.
Location is beautiful, room was cosy and staff attentive
Room a little small
Fantastic setting, great views from the room. Fabulous food, lots of walking from the hotel, EV charger.
No lift working,
A superb location with the best coast walk adjacent to the hotel. Easy access to Lizard village.
A big shout out to Alex and his manager Joseph for sorting out a booking issue by switching us to a room with a full sea view - it was a great way to begin our stay! We loved the location of the hotel - fabulous views and the SW Coastal Path runs past the garden gate. Hotel has been tastefully furnished + is very peaceful. Lovely bar and restaurant as well.
Loved the seaview and how the room was furnished but the narrow bathroom needs to be updated. The shower is over a bathtub and the shower screen is too short - the result is water splashing onto the floor. Pillows are foam, lumpy and are probably due for a change too.
The views from the social areas was amazing, not so much for the rooms
Pay the price for the location not the room, overpriced for what it was
Gorgeous view from the Panoramic Room. Staff were so friendly and helpful, every single one of them. Food in The Terrace was delicious -- breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Very minor: Would have been nice to have a continental-only breakfast option some days. We don't always want a ton of food.
Stunning sea views, comfortable beds. Helpful staff.
It is on the pricier end of the spectrum.
Stunning location looking out over the bay.Lovely hotel and staff extremely friendly and welcoming.Room was super clean - but very compact- not much room and for some reason an extra large dropped light shade over the bed that we constantly banged our heads on- some noise issues from bathroom adjacent to ours- not sure what sound proofing there is. Bathroom was lovely and super clean- lovely wet room type shower- big towels too. Excellent location for walks direct onto coastal path- lovely terrace and gardens.
The views are incredible. The staff are lovely. The room was modern, clean and comfortable.
The hotel has a few dated areas, such as fire doors etc. but I am being picky.
Staff were super and facilities were very good. Excellent breakfast and good options to dine in.
Approach road was very poor and full of potholes.Room we had was very small and if I was staying longer, I would want some decent storage space such as a chest of drawers. I gather some of the other rooms were larger.
The hotel was clean, beautiful location , stunning views. Very pleasant stay. Road to property not great.
The food was very good, delicious croissants and good bread (unlike many hotels). The tasting menu was outstanding..excellent service. The location is stunning, the room was very comfortable with a wonderful view over Housel Bay and the staff were all very friendly and helpful.
Staff very cheerful and a credit to the hotel.Food was very good from the terrace.
Lighthouse- the room we had has only blinds and at night the room is illuminated by a 4 second strobe from the lighthouse. To resolve this a simple black out curtain would suffice. I appreciated the ear plugs - they were needed from the noise from the lighthouse alarm and the dog barking in a room a few down.
All of it. It was like walking into your home. As soon as we walked in we were made to feel so very welcome. We were even offered a lift to our walking destination. The food was second to none; our room was beautiful, the service incredible and even with the stormy conditions it was fabulous. I can’t wait to go back.
Joseph Fallowfield's tasting menu in Fallowfields restaurant was amazing, and Alex did a fantastic job as front of house. All of the staff were lovelyEV charging once it was working.
The bathrooms in the ocean view rooms are extremely dated.Scaffolding in front of the ocean view we weren't informed about prior to arrivalNo hair conditioner.Room staff could be a bit noisy in the mornings, and beds were not made up particularly well.
Perfect location. Lovely coast walk and then walk to the village.
Bed was hard. The triple cooked chips were deep fried and greasy
