Lovely stay with a great friendly owner and staff. The food was fresh and well made we really enjoyed our 3 night stay
wonderful, wonderful, wonderful! Everything from the room to the restaurant. And what a beautiful decoration of the hall for Christmas! The room is warm, cozy. The breakfast is delicious and served on time. By the way, it was the best black pudding I have ever eaten!

Staff friendly, good food and well organised.

The location was ideal for what we required. Host was very amenable providing breakfast very early as we were required to leave early each morning of our stay. Food was of a very high standard staff very good.
Very welcoming staff, and comfortable and clean room. Nice atmosphere in the bar & restaurant in the evening and good cooked breakfast in the morning.
Small and friendly hotel. Comfortable and spacious rooms. Friendly staff and excellent breakfast
We had a lovely spacious room and fantastic food. The overall feel is a beautifully decorated bar restaurant with a warm welcoming vibe.
Breakfast was served a little early - between 8am and 9am on a Sunday - but was definately worth getting up for - delicious!
The decor of the rooms, friendly staff.Lovely meal in the restaurant
We had a wedding in the area so this location was perfect. Friendly staff and check in process was smooth. Great room with large comfy bed and amazing shower! Quiet at night so slept really well. There is an additional cost for breakfast which we had one morning and was good value for money.
Excellent room, extremely comfortable bed. Restaurant was cozy and felt good and the food and drink was exceptional. Staff were first class, very friendly, helpful and very good at doing their jobs. Would definitely stay again.
I marked the question about price paid not meeting my expectations because my stay far exceeded my expectations!Breakfast was lovely. Staff were all excellent and very friendly. Big shout out to the owner who gave us all a lift to the wedding we were attending. Very much appreciated!
Totally nit picking, the duvet was thicker than a Mothers Pride ootsider!
We enjoyed very much our evening in the black bull, delicious food, nice atmosphere and fantastic service. The staff is very friendly! The breakfast was also very good.
The bed was too hard for us and not comfortable, but that is very personal opinion.
Amazing place great staff and host food was excellent
Nothing. It’s was a great stay wished it was longer.
The owner and staff were excellent hosts. They really have taken this hotel and set a standard. My wife and I stay in many hotels through her work and leisure but I have to say this is the best independent hotel I have stayed in. The breakfast was brilliant. Served by the young lady who also does the cleaning (sorry I didn’t catch her name) this young lady is 17yo. Her work ethic was amazing. Go her. I would recommend staying here. We went down for a wedding that was at a nearby “house”. Some friends and family stayed at that house we made them jealous with the stories of our breakfasts and our beds and a shower that wasn’t communal!!!
To close to the bakers across the road. Ha ha. Nothing was wrong with this hotel. This is my and my party’s opinion. I have quite a high standard. Some people may disagree. In a review someone said the owner was rude and blah blah. Alan was funny and had some great stories he also gave us a tour of the hotel proudly showing off his hard work. Rightly so.
Absolutely lovely stay! The team was incredibly warm and supportive. I felt truly spoiled throughout my stay. My room was peaceful and inviting with an exceptionally comfortable bed and a beautiful view of the castle right from my window. It's also worth highlighting the food- absolutely unforgettable!
Nothing I enjoyed it.
The location is central.
We had the room n10 which was facing the street. It was small and humid. The window was single glazing which meant that we could hear every car driving in front of the hotel (and there were a lot, not relaxing at all). I asked to change room but the hotel was fully booked. There were no proper mirror in the bathroom and no where to put our stuff. The bed was super small (felt like a 120cm for 2 adults) for a double bed and the carpet on the floor and on the wall made the room look old and dirty. This bedroom needs serious renovation knowing that I visited room n6 which was completely different. My friend stayed in room n6 and we both paid the same price however I feel like we were flauded. The équipements and the facilities of our room were a lot below.
Modern facilities which was 5 star luxury while fitting with the country village lifestyle
