Pros +
- This was a pleasant hotel in the main square of Duns which made an excellent overnight halt while travelling back home to northeast Scotland. For various reasons it had been better to leave the rest of the journey until next day, and the night's rest with a good dinner in their dining room was very satisfactory. Would recommend for anybody. At some point it would be good to spend more time in the Borders, perhaps, if possible, at this hotel!
- Handy location to access Wedderlie House for a wedding.Comfy enough beds and good value for money breakfast.
- Super staff The food was fab and the drink was good prices
Cons -
- No problems here for an overnight stay, which was what was needed. Some travellers might note that as an older property they do not have lifts.
- The place was a little dated and in need of some freshening up.
- Not a lot Lovely people

Bed not very comfortable
Lovely staff and very good location, very clean
Homely, friendly, clean, plenty of character, great food
Free parking outside the Hotel. Freshly cooked full Scottish breakfast at an extra £7 which was lovely. Evening meal menu and options very well priced.
The room was clean and had everything needed for a weekend stay. The hotel had a decent kitchen.
I booked the room about a 4 months in advance, and despite reserving a standard room with a double bed, I was given a room with a single bed, which of course was disappointing, especially since I had paid for a double. I wasn’t offered any discounts or benefits for this—just “take it or leave it.” That was unpleasant. I was advised to contact Booking, but they still haven’t responded to my request, even though three days have already passed. In addition, there is a nightclub operating in the hotel building, which is very noisy until late at night. Because of the nightclub, the hotel is also full of visitors.
Evening meal and breakfast were fine.Staff friendly and helpful- especially when I was trying to get a taxi to the hotel.Stylish bedroom. Some good stores nearby to get food for a day's walking.
Some areas are looking quite worn eg my bathroom and the staircase carpet. It would be good to see a refurb, if finances allowed.
Nice comfortable clean bedroom. Staff really friendly and helpful. The food was amazing, large portions, very reasonably priced. Everything very good.
Comfortable bedsLovely breakfast Friendly staff Good value for money
Tad tired hotel There was a half filled in crossword within a newspaper left in the room!
Convenient location for walking the southern upland way and visiting holy island
Menu was a bit limited for two nights stay.
Excellent value for money, ate there food quality very good, clean room , could do with a lick of paint outside overall very happy
Personnel kind and good location of the hotel
Shower not so good
Staff were super friendly and accommodating!
We were on the top floor and the noise from the boiler / heating system was quite loud at times during the night.
Lovely staff who were very welcoming and helpful. Great food at very reasonable prices.
Hotel was a little tired but very clean, would stay again.
It was easy to park outside and the staff and bar was comfortable and welcoming.
The noise outside the room at night but it was a Saturday night!
Clean and comfortable. Room and bathroom were a generous size. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Wear and tear, could use some updating but nothing that impacted our stay.
Location to Duns Play Fest /centre Nice staffClean bedroom Nice bedding Hospitality tray Size of room (family) When I explained about pubic hairs and noise staff member knocked money off bill and did apologise. Staff lovely.
Friday stay. Noise from pub really bad (and I am a super heavy sleeper but ....) couldn't sleep til after 2 on a Friday - lack of sound insulation from pub below. Public hair in bath Had considered putting up actors here for future Duns Play Fest productions but having stayed here don't think I could as worry for work purposes employees wouldn't get enough sleep.
Poor
Room and hotel itself badly in need of updating. Disturbed intermittently all night by a water pump running in another room.
