Pros +
- The view from the window looked out over the sea.
- The view and facilities
- For guests arriving in by train, the hotel's location couldn't be more convenient. Large, clean and comfortable room.
Cons -
- There was no breakfast available, even though it said breakfast was available. Limited check in hours. We had to drive extra to check in before we went to dinner so that the check in wasn't closed which added an hour to our drive to go back and forth to the hotel then dinner. They charged an extra $45 to add a person to my son's room because my other son joined us last minute on the trip. There was no reason to add an extra charge since there was no additional impact on the room. Just a gratuitous up-charge. So unnecessary and really left a bad taste. Also, the bed was so small and uncomfortable. NOT a good bed for two people and very hard.
- Shower head needs a deep clean and there were a few marks on the walls/ceiling that wipe off. The cold tap produces hot water for a couple of minutes before it goes cooler.
- The white walls of the bedroom were completely bare so it felt a little bit like a private room in a hospital.Formerly known as "Hillside Bed & Breakfast", it's now known as "Hillside Hotel", and charges a £12 supplement for breakfast, which on top of the £72 for the room seemed quite expensive for a one-night stay (so I didn't bother with the breakfast!)

Spotlessly clean and functional with modern furnishings, generous sized bathroom, light and airy bedroom. Friendly staff interaction at check in and breakfast.
Limited parking roadside due to double yellow lines outside the property at junction however on checking in it was clear that the medical centre car park opposite can be utilised overnight resulting in no issue overall.
Room was clean and comfortable, breathtaking views of the sea. Hotel is very close to the train station and taxi service is very good.
There’s no early access to the hotel, we arrived 30 minutes before check in time and had to wait outside. Good thing it wasn’t raining.
This hotel is great value for money in Dunbar. Very friendly staff, clean and functional room overlooking the ocean, nice pub atmosphere and generous breakfast. It certainly met our expectations.
Easy to find and close to all local amenities. Room was spacious and very clean.Parking was okay too.
Room met expectations.
Great to have a potato scone & haggis with the cooked breakfast. Really good coffee

Staff were very welcomingRoom was clean
It's a little pricey
The location is excellent. It is only a 20min train ride into Edinburgh which is very convenient. The hotel room is a good size, the shower excellent, it is quiet and the ocean views lovely.
The bed was fine but you tended to roll into the middle which wasn't great. Breakfast is not included in the rate.
Not too bad a stay, room was adequate with everything required for a lone guy working away from home.
Room needs a little tlc in areas, the blinds need attention, cleanliness could be better & there was what appeared to be small spots of blood staining on the bedding.
Spacious bright comfortable rooms & great location.
Shower was a bit too hot & couldn't sèem to adjust
Soap in the bathroom
Empty hotel however we were put in the top attic room is this because we got a deal thru booking.com? No one about bar closed all day Sunday which ment no staff in the hotel this hotel seems to run with one guy and a young girl who maids
Good location overlooking the sea and just a few minutes walk to the high street bars and restaurants. Room was spacious with good facilities. Nice sized bed although a bit soft for my liking. Friendly welcome on check in and at breakfast with a good choice of cereals and fry up with veggie options:
Not a lot of parking available outside the hotel so we ended up down a tight back street behind the hotel. Room was quite hot overnight with no air conditioning. Opened the windows so not too bad but I expect it could be a bit uncomfortable in good weather.
Great location. Comfy bed. Good value for money.
The lights blew a fuse. A few flights of stairs!!
friendly staff who looked after us after an horrific sail in rough seas, thank you
Great location. Great view. Welcoming friendly staff.
Several small spiders around room ceiling.
Rooms airy and large. Clean comfortable, bar is reasonably priced too.
Great location, terrific views. Nice and clean and quiet room. The shower was very good.
Two things - the room walls are completely bare - just plastered with white paint. Seems like an opportunity missed to put some local stuff up about Dunbar. I did mention it to a staff member and they said it was the intention - bit odd. While the shower was good I was disappointed there were no racks / shelves to put my own stuff on. Shower didn't drain very well either. I hadn't booked breakfast and I wasn't informed how I might but breakfast if I wanted it (I didn't).
Absolutely perfect location, amazing sea view from our window. Comfortable and warm room, couldn't of asked for more. Definitely recommend!
