Clean and well presented. We arrived after last orders for restaurant but kitchen stayed open for us which we were really grateful for. Pleasant and welcoming staff
Nothing negative to say
The Ayre Hotel is a lovely place and I would stay again. It was really just a base for us this time as we had lots of plans with family so we didn't get a chance to go to restaurant but it looked lovely. We had a drink in the lounge and it is gorgeous, good cocktails. The staff are all very helpful and friendly.
This is just a personal thing but I would have liked if breakfast was a bit later, the latest to go is 9.30am. We had quite late nights so were enjoying a wee sleep in but it did not really bother us, it's just the only thing I remember thinking, I thought 10.30am would maybe be a typical breakfast time but it could have been for staffing reasons etc, it didn't spoil it at all, we chose to sleep in!
Central location right in the town. Rooms were clean, warm and spacious.
Dinner was perfectly adequate; nothing exceptional. Breakfast was excellent. Room more than adequate.
Room ventilation fan was very noisy.
Great location and. super staff. Even on a really busy night they kept their cool and made sure everyone was well looked after
I liked the location it was perfect for what I needed.
I asked for a late check out, which the boy on the desk agreed when I arrived, however he had not told anyone, and I felt I was chastised when I checked out.
Good food both dinner and breakfast Helpful staff
Bathroom not so goodRoom ok Hotel rate a bit expensive Improve the coffee beans in restaurant
I had an absolutely wonderful stay here. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the room was warm, cozy, and perfectly maintained. Everything was very well equipped, which made my stay easy and enjoyable. Communication was seamless from start to finish, and the staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. I felt well taken care of the entire time. Highly recommended — I would happily stay here again!
Good parking round the back for motorbike, small but comfortable room was all I needed to rest and shower before the ferry across to Shetland.Staff were all friendly and had dinner in the restaurant which was also lovely. Scallops and a Burger - Ideal!
Nothing really, toilet was not cleaned properly, but other than that, great hotel for an evening in Orkney.
Lovely clean and comfortable room close to the waterfront and walking distance to town centre and historical attractions.
The staff were amazing! Attentive and helpful.
The only negative was the bed. It was too firm for our liking. A mattress topper might have helped
Really friendly staff, made us feel exceptionally welcome. The room was a great size, had everything we needed. The restaurant staff let us in a little early for breakfast as we had an early trip. Could not fault them.
Nothing!
Convenient location, good food, friendly staff.
Wouldn’t have preferred more choice of menu, maybe a “specials” evening menu?Housekeeping - cobwebs above curtains and corners of room, also water damage to ceiling which requires attention.
I liked the room it was extremely clean and the staff were really lovely. The location was good and suited me.
I really didnt like the breakfast and found the bacon and eggs hard. On one day, the blackpudding was extra hard on one side (overcooked). I did end up ordering porridge as an option, which was OK, but was only a small portion. Overall the options were minimal and poor. The evening meal was not good as the soup was gloopy and the potatoes and turnip were just not good quality.
