Pros +
- Beautiful twin room, spotless and lots of choices of tea, coffee, hot chocolate. Staff were friendly and helpful. This really is a bargain
- Liked the property & the potential it has if the new owners are able to get the investments they need to finish their goal. Staff were fantastic & the food was magnificent.
- We arrived at Welbeck Manor in the pouring rain! It was actually our 42nd Wedding Anniversary. On the day we got married the weather had been beautiful! We were greeted by Emily and Mac(k), who were wonderful hosts, while they were folding serviettes in a Christmas style! Emily told us about the history of Welbeck Manor which was quite interesting. It would be a good idea to produce a booklet telling others about this information. We had a lovely, relaxing stay in a beautiful room and would like to revisit to attend one of the events in the future.
Cons -
- Was a little put off on arrival as outside needs some TLC but after researching the property & new owners plans for the property soon changed my mind I hope they are successful.
- Everything was perfect but the weather could have been better!
- The shower door could not open as it had been siliconed shut!

Warm, clean, good location
The shower door could not open as it had been siliconed shut!
Another super stay - super comfy beds in fabulous grounds with wonderful staff and food.
Nothing (apart from the floods on the way home! But nothing to do with the hotel)
Bedroom and ensuite bathroom spacious and well appointed. Staff very helpful and friendly. Lots of choice for breakfast.Location and views great.
Slightly odd that no staff on duty at night but we were given an emergency number should anything happen.
Room was of a good size. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom facilities were clean and fully functional. All the staff were welcoming and friendly. The property has some pet friendly rooms which we had booked and there are plenty of areas at the property where you can walk and exercise your dog. We had a full English breakfast the following morning which was of good quality, very tasty and of ample quantity.
Nothing really to mention.
Everyone both on arrival and departure were superbI’m a business consultant needing to get to assignment 20 mins away and Louise from front of house took me in her own car. Beat that !
We’ve just come back from another stay at Welbeck and honestly, it never misses. We go as often as we can because it’s one of those rare places that feels like slipping back into a favourite jumper — familiar, gorgeous, and impossibly relaxing. The food exceeded all expectations- every mouthful is full of inane flavours and is presented beautifully with real care and attention. The house itself is fabulous (we’re convinced it gets prettier every time), but it’s the people who make it special. The two Emilys and Luke were absolute stars — the kind of staff who make you feel like you’re being welcomed back by friends rather than checked into a hotel. Nothing was too much trouble, everything was done with a smile, and they somehow managed to make our stay even better than the last one… which we didn’t think was possible.Already planning our next visit. Welbeck, stop being so irresistible. Mac and Fi ☺️
Beautiful historical building, staff were helpful and friendly rooms were lovely full of character beds were very comfy breakfast was great
I think the exterior of the building could be made a little more inviting including parking area and outside entrance. The floor in the dining room needed a good sweep when we were having our breakfast it was covered in crumbs maybe a little robotic hoover
Exceptionally welcoming staff, delicious meals (both dinner and breakfast were fantastic), comfy beds and wonderful views. The place was lively but still homely, and our family (and dog) had a great stay.
The electric heaters were a little confusing to operate, but we got it sorted.
Very pleasant staff on reception and in the restaurant. Room was comfortable, we had all that we needed.
Room was very very cold when we arrived, and it took a long time to warm up. Once up to temperature, it was perfect.
Room was lovely, breakfast was good the first morning, bar was nice when it was open. Lady on reception and man on the bar on arrival were very friendly and welcoming.
No major issues. We arrived in the dark so signage to parking wasn't the easiest to spot, then walking round to the entrance there are very few sensor lights so we had to use a phone torch. Going back to the car to go out the next morning the golfers had arrived and it was a squeeze to get back in the car. Breakfast the second day must have sat waiting for the eggs as the rest was barely warm.Biggest disappointment was arriving back at 9:30 Saturday evening after a challenging drive (we mistakenly followed the sat nav down very narrow flooded lanes with deer on). The place was locked up and staff had left. We'd been told there were no staff on site overnight but the book says the bar is available until 11 so had planned to stop in for a drink or 2. We always book accommodation with a bar so the driver gets a chance to have a drink when they get back. There was a wedding group staying so maybe we just picked an off weekend or they were a bit short on staff.
Lovely unique property with period opulent finishes and modern touches. Comfy beds, good showers and great food - generous portions (some more than others). Friendly and helpful staff - especially the cleaning lady with the lovely coat! Wifi seems to have improved a little since our previous stay.
Cold in common areas and in bedrooms upon arrival. It would be nice to pre-heat the room a little when you know you have a reservation for it, and it would also help with some of the general maintenance for windows/soft furnishings etc. We had to ask to sit next to the panel radiators for our dinner! Mobile phone signal is diabolical - some well-positioned signal boosters, O2/Other providers would really help, especially when there's no landline phones in the rooms and staff are not on-site 24 hrs.
Refurbished room and public areas were well done and tasteful. Great views. Friendly staff.
Slow food service at the time we visited (off season, so maybe less staff?). Room was cold when we arrived - they could have put the room heating on in advance of our arrival. Dining room was also cold on the first night - people were wrapped up for dinner - better the following day. The room and bathroom were nicely decorated but lacked some of the basics - there were no drawers at all to unpack clothes into and no surfaces in the bathroom to put toiletries or towels on to. In summary - lovely place, but they need to think harder about making the room a bit more workable for the guests.
Beautiful location. Excellent food. Friendly staff
Lovely room, fabulous bed, very comfortable and great shower.Nice food in the restaurant and the young lad that served the food and ran the bar, was very efficient and polite.Would definitely stay again.
Nothing I didn't like
Staff were amazing from receptionist who queried my special request where I advised I was a strict vegetarian, meat and fish intolerant. Caused a few issues due to their cooking processes but the Chef and her worked together to get me a menu showing what I could and couldn't order, just ticks and crosses. I kept that menu for my visit and showed it to each different waiter or chef to help them. We arrived early, had travelled a long way in horrendous weather conditions were a bit damp and exhausted. They let us have our room as soon as they could, but offered us lunch which was very welcome Carrot and Coconut soup followed by Chocolate Brownie. Our room was lovely, sadly no bath but the power shower made up for it. Bed very comfy but only one chair in the room though there are padded window seats. Breakfast was amazing as I could add bits and pieces, fresh fruit, yoghurt. Poached eggs available every which way and toast and marmalade to follow. Lovely Green Tea once I taught them how to make it, it should look green so almost transparent. Evening meal was risotto ...yum, just yum. Can't eat a lot in one session so my husband finished it for me. Dessert, Lemon Posset, was amazing. My husband ate really well and the fish of the day dish was his favourite. Restaurant really lovely eating place. Family joined us for Sunday lunch which was amazing by all our standards. We can't thank you enough for a lovely couple of days.
The weather driving there. The steep slope from the car park, our car has an auto crash prevention which came into force as we slid a bit due to the previous days rain washing debris onto it. Leaving. But we will be back.
This is my third visit to this hotel, and the beds are very comfortable, it is also in a quiet location.with lovely views over the countryside. The Breakfast is normally very nice, however i did not have it on this occasion.
The menu has gone down hill massively since my first visit, there were only three items on the main menu fish and chips, burger and chips or steak and chips, i asked for the steak and it wasnt available leaving only 2 items to chose from, i chose the burger which was average however for £19 i would accept it to be a lot nicer. The staff on this visit were not as Attentive as they normally are, i asked for a bottle of still water and was told they would bring one up in a second, i then went back into my room and waited for nearly an hour, nothing, i then went back downstairs and he apologised, he had forgotten about it as he was talking to people. The Wifi also did not work for the duration of my stay so i could not log into my work laptop, and due to the location i had no 5g so could also not connect to my phone. The bathroom was also in need of a good clean as the shower matt was covered in black and brown mould and also the grouting on the tiles at the base of the shower also had mould growing. This has never been the case on my previous visits, and hopefully the management team will sort these issues for if i stay again.
Lovely location and well appointed...
Car parking is abundant but not well lit at night
