The hotel is close to the River Dart and a great selection of independent shops in the center of Totnes. Most of South Devon's attractions are within easy reach by road, rail, bus and taxi. Totnes railway station is less than half a mile (2625 feet) from the hotel. There are 21 recently refurbished rooms with attached bathroom, all of which are individually styled. Pros +
- Good location, clean room
- They provided a dog bed, dog bowls, dog treats and a tennis ball for our dog. The cooked breakfast was cooked from scratch and delicious!
- Breakfast was great. Bedroom was clean and had everything that we needed. Great location
Cons -
- Breakfast rates are the same that you pay in central London, should be reduced to around £10.99 which would be comparable to the Premier Inn instead of the current price. Plenty of cafes around that charge a more reasonable price though.
- All good
- Radiator in bathroom,,,not working despite very cold weather. Loo flush- handle broken.Drawers in furniture squeak and require lubrication..One curtain had come off hooks and was letting in light.

Great location,a character and historic hotel. Good sized room.
A parking lottery in a small space.. we ended up in the street outside and having to move it first thing.
Nice pub, good food and staff very friendly. I’ve stayed before and it was always a nice experience. This time I booked a single room. It was called the Box Room and it was small. However, quite satisfactory for one person and it had a clean en-suite with loo, basin and shower. Good value at £54.
Very Helpful staff
Creaky flooring but hay ho its an hitoric building
Staff was excellent. Restaurant breakfast was exceptional. Good location, close to shops and restaurants.
WC was difficult to flush. Did call it to management’s attention. One staff member also found it difficult; another said it was fine. We chose to use the common bathroom most of the time.
The staff were very helpful and the place had a fantastic atmosphere. Also the food i had was excellent.
The shower head would not stay in position and kept sliding down.
Incredible staff, friendly and helpful. Went above and beyond. Great breakfast, central location and fantastic value for money.
Friendly staff, comfortable quiet room in the best possible location in the centre
A little dated in places but it didn’t really matter to me
Location and ambiance excellent. Staff very helpful, especially when they realized that I am allergic to tea and coffee, and brought me extra sachets of hot chocolate and luxury biscuits
Leaving to come home after a really restful weekend
The staff were very friendly and polite & good location with parking.
The bed wasn’t made up on arrival. The toilet didn’t flush properly. The sink appeared to be blocked. The window was locked so it was v stuffy. We asked for it to be unlocked which it was on the first day, only to be locked again on day 2. I asked if I could have porridge but as it wasn’t on the menu they said I couldn’t - I offered to supply oats but they still couldn’t do porridge for me.
Quirky, lovely mix of old and newGreat foodFriendly staff
Limited parking but staff did their best and got us parking
Great location.
Rooms was very creaky and the fire alarm going off at 7.45 am
Great breakfast. Vegetarian breakfast is so tasty. I could only have it on the last day though as I left the hotel each morning at 7am. Breakfast started at 8am. However I could have cereal before I left. You could store luggage for free.Great location.Tea making facilities and cookies.Friendly staff.
Last time I stayed I got a double room and it was quieter. This time the room was very small. It was fine though.
We needed somewhere warm and friendly for an overnight stay on our way to a family funeral. We thought the friendliness and diversity of the hotel was great. As is Totnes.
Parking in Totnes was a challenge, but the staff were really helpful .
The 2 breakfasts we had were goodThe location was convenient and we were able to park our car in the hotel car park.
