- Hi The hotel was very nice and the staff excellent,
- Check in was quick and straight forward very pleasant receptionist. Room was nice and large, very clean. Breakfast was freshly cooked and tasty
- very interesting old house very hard to find with sat nav but good on site parking and lovely views from dining room.
Cons -
- I asked for a ground floor room and had to go down 2 flights of stairs to get to my room which was by the wash room so had machine noise all day whilst trying to sleep as i was working nights, I did not tell the hotel that i was working nights so was not their fault entirely.
- The hotel in general was a little tired and the bar area could have been great with better lighting and decor.
- Restaurant menu could have ben a little more varied but it was end of season

The staff were helpful and friendly
The bar / lounge had no comfortable seating nor did the dining room. Food at dinner was just OK. The room had no proper wardrobe but only hangers on hooks. Breakfast was just adequate.
Clean, comfortable, friendly staff and a nice breakfast.
The room was small but that's to be expected in an old house.
Wonderful historic building in outstanding location. Beautiful views from the property.. The bar area and terraces with lovely views were a real bonus. The staff, especially the bar staff and the lady who managed breakfast ,were professional and friendly.
The room allocated was not really suitable. It was on the second floor and was a difficult climb for elderly legs. To be fair, we had booked last minute and were unable to transfer to another room. Next time will book well on advance to secure more comfortable room.
The room was spotless and updated. The exterior needs work but the dining room was excellent.
The exterior needs some TLC.
It’s a beautiful building, located next to the castle. The staff went above and beyond to make my stay a wonderful experience
The insulation in the room is terrible. You hear people in the next room talk. The sound of the electric shower of the next room woke me up. My room had a massive gap between the floor and the door.
Very friendly and helpful staff. They had responded to my specific requests made at the time of booking. Clean and comfortable room. Nice and warm. Comfortable bed. We ate at the hotel in the evening. Good service and reasonably priced food.
Some traffic noise in the bedroom from the road, but not excessive. Shower tray very slippery - something to provide some grip would be good.
Lovely setting. Friendly staff. Good sized room.
No lounge for guests. Only one comfy chair in room. Two parties on during dinner.
Nothing much
Cleanliness, staff smoking , room
Breakfast
We were given an attic room which had exposed roof spars that were close to the bed. Had to be careful not to catch your head on them.We were informed at late notice that there was a wedding on otherwise we’d have cancelled the booking.
Hotel is a little bit tired but still lovely and the staff were lovely . perfect location
Food was lovely staff was friendly room was just what we needed
Friendly staff and a beautiful house
A bit noisy in the bar
Parking was very difficult in a large commercial vehicle, as there is a tight turn into car parkWe were in a beautiful room on the top floor, unfortunately it was stiflingly hot and there was no fan or cooling facilities in the roomStaff, food, service and location were great
Friendly staff, good reasonably priced food.
Room looked a little tired, bit of paintwork and new carpet would soon spruce it up. Dehumidifier in room indicates some problem.
I enjoyed the outdoor terrace in the sun. Also for such a posh building and matching high level of service, there was not a hint of snootyness.
Excellent breakfast, main choice served to your table.Location, right near town centre and castle.
Very spacious new rooms, amazing bathroom. Large TV, tea and coffee with kettle in the room. Hairdryer provided. Very friendly staff. Plenty of toilets available. Lovely outside seating areas. Breakfast was good and plenty to choose from. Bathroom needed some hooks for your clothes. Hard to know how to turn off the towel heater. Larger mirror would have been preferred in the bedroom for when drying hair. New rooms in the basement had no signage at all. No family rooms so had to book 2 rooms.
