My family and I love this hotel its a great mid point for our travels. Very convenient amenities, cleanliness, great customer service.
The staff was pretty friendly and respectful, even when the one was calling me a liar, she was so polite about it.

The location was great. Outpost next door had great food. Motel quite old but clean. Owners had a rough time during pandemic and are just starting back up again. They do all their own cleaning. They were very nice and accommodating.

Top Tips
- Reserve accommodations 2 to 4 weeks ahead for June to August stays or event weekends. Burns has fewer than 500 hotel and motel rooms for a population of 2,800, so early booking secures prime locations for festivals or wildlife viewing.
- Take advantage of Oregon's zero sales tax, but check for local lodging taxes and any $15 resort or transient fees added by properties. Always review the full booking total, as Burns lodging taxes may add 8-12% to base rates.
- Prepare for high-desert temperature swings of 20-35°F (11-19°C) between day and night by packing layers. Confirm that your room has both working air conditioning and heating, especially for guests with sensitivity to temperature changes or families with children.
- Monitor wildfire smoke and use AirNow.gov to check the Air Quality Index (AQI) before and during your stay, especially June to September. Bring N95 masks if AQI rises above 150, since most smaller hotels in Burns do not offer enhanced air filtration.
- Expect spotty cellphone coverage and limited rural broadband outside Burns city limits. If you need reliable internet for work or accessibility, ask your hotel for a Wi-Fi speed test in advance, as some larger hotels have business centers with stable connections.
- Refuel and stock up on supplies in Burns before heading to Steens Mountain or Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, which are 30-60 miles (48-97 km) away with few full-service stations en route. Check with your hotel for current maps or road conditions.
- Burns Municipal Airport (BNO) does not offer scheduled commercial flights. The closest airports are Boise (190 miles / 306 km) and Bend (130 miles / 209 km), so arrange rental cars and confirm your pickup spot before travel.
- Confirm amenities such as accessible rooms, in-room refrigerator, microwave, or late check-in before arrival. Most Burns hotels have limited 24-hour staffing or room types, and step-free access or specialty features should be requested ahead of your visit.
