Pros +
- Very comfortable bedroom and great bathroom facilities/toiletries. Beautiful location with lots of local walks. The food in the restaurant was delicious and the staff friendly.
- Lovely, clean and modern but still had character
- Quiet, good friendly staff.
Cons -
- Restaurant service was quite slow and the Valentine's Day menu was very restrictive - the great food and friendliness of the staff did make up for it though. The restaurant itself is quite dark and dingy but bedroom and rest of the pub were nice. Just a little thing, we specifically asked for a double bed but it was two singles pushed together which is never comfy!
- All ok. Very quiet on Monday in January.
- Not quite the country pub atmosphere we were looking for. More like a smart small hotel.

Quiet, good friendly staff.
All ok. Very quiet on Monday in January.
Very comfortable room. Great staff. Well located for nearby walks. Food was good if not exciting.
Not quite the country pub atmosphere we were looking for. More like a smart small hotel.
Lovely rural setting in chocolate box England. The, breakfast was excellent.
Lovely countryside walks but you'll need a car to travel further afield.
The staff were very warm and friendly. Couldn't have been more helpful. Breakfast on our first morning was outstanding, our second morning was quite poor.
The coffee was very bad. Tv was not a smart tv so no access to netflix or anything to watch a film. Surprising in 2025.
Lovely room, comfy bed, excellent shower, friendly staff, delicious breakfast.
So quiet. For me it was perfect to be surrounded by field and countryside, our room was very spacious and a perfect temperature. The food was DELICIOUS! All the staff were friendly and helpful, we felt very welcome and almost like they had all already met us before.
Nothing particular to be honest - it is a clean basic pub B&B but executed very well - no complaints
This is our regular place to stay when visiting my elderly parents in Maidenhead and this must have been the fourth or fifth visit. As always, we received a warm welcome and had an excellent stay. The rooms are all a good size (we have stayed in five different ones and they are all the same) with great bathrooms and a very comfortable bed.
We had the cooked breakfast option in the morning, and it's a bit mean that if you want some toast, or a yoghurt or similar, they charge you extra. On a similar, but more substantial vein, we both had the loin of venison for our main course the previous evening. The food was delicious, but if you don't pay an extra £4 for some mashed potatoes, your £24 meal would be the two smallish pieces of venison, an excellent jus and a small spoonful of swede and carrot mash.Hmmm...
A lovely tucked-away country hotel and restaurant that has a warm "local" feel. Everywhere is tastefully designed and the staff could not be more friendly. Highly recommended!
I arrived late and the parking was full, not really a complaint (!) but the only 5 seconds that wasn't an absolute joy
It’s in a very pretty setting. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Coffee shop on site sold local produce which was a nice touch.
Poorly lit at night so it was a bit difficult to find.
Great room and good food.
Not good outside lighting from carpark to main building. Not great when arriving late at night.
Great rooms in a wonderful setting with excellent food and wine to set the experience
Superb breakfast served on hot plates cooked to perfection from friendly helpful staff.
Both breakfasts and evening meals were excellent. Staff were generally friendly and responded quickly to requests for further items for our room.
The inaccuracy of the bill for an evening meal and lack of apology for the error from one staff member. It detracted from the overall experience of the stay. How about a proper chain for the basin plug and check for a supply of soap?
Great place to stay if you’re visiting Highclere Castle.Rooms are excellent with underfloor heating in the bathroom. Staff friendly and food excellent
This was a last minute booking just looking for a quiet night away and wow were we surprised, the room was fantastic had everything in you wanted and quiet, the staff were very friendly and i would highly recommend it. We will be returning
A comfortable and well appointed room and bathroom. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Convivial atmosphere. Dinner and breakfast were delicious. Nice walks in the surrounding area and interesting places to visit, eg. Sandham Memorial Chapel.
We lived the friendliness of the front of house staff and the quality of the food.
The room wasn’t ready for 90 minutes upon arrival at 3pm so we had to sit in the car with our dogs after a long journey until 4.30 when we just wanted to unpack and have a cuppa in the room. And then again on day 2, the room wasn’t ready after our day out at 4.15 with no apology but explained the cleaner was alone as her colleague was on holiday. TBH, not our problem, an apology would have meant more than an excuse!
Great place and atmosphere. Dinner and breakfast were excellent. Welcoming and helpful staff.
