The George Hotel

The hotel is situated near the centre of Montrose. The parking was close to the hotel and was free.Breakfast was excellent with a wide selection on the menu. Evening meals were very good and it is a popular venue in the evening.

Location was great. Can’t speak highly enough about the wonderful staff.

Bed need a new mattress

The room was clean and spacious. The bay window view was very nice! The included breakfast was made to order and excellent, and the staff super friendly. The restaurant, which we dined in for 2 evenings, was very good, and had an extensive menue. Bonus: The sandy beach is only a 12-15 minute walk away!

The food was excellent, especially the breakfast and the excellent service offered by Susie. Nothing was too much trouble and all our requests were met in full.The staff in general were very pleasant and there was a really nice atmosphere in the hotel.

The hotel is old with everything that goes with that. The single rooms were small, some very small, but they served their purpose and everything you needed was there.My only suggestion would be some hooks in the bathrooms and a towel rail in room 18!

Hotel spotless . Lovely staff . Good location . Room we had could do with having black out blinds as room curtains were too light so did not sleep well.TV only worked on certain channels. Unable to open window so room was a bit stuffy . A fan would have been helpful.

Doesnt look much from the outside but great inside. Room comfortable and superb cooked to order breakfast. Dedicated carpark as well

Hotel spotlessly clean with very friendly attentive staff. Excellent food.

Top floor shower a bit lacking in water pressure but managed ok.

This hotel in well situated, and with very comfortable and clean rooms. It's also quite cozy - somehow they've cracked the code of finding the right temperature.

When I arrived to the hotel, there was absolutely no staff around. I rang the bell four or five times, and called the main hotel number twice. It was on the second call, after I had been waiting in the empty reception area between 10-15 minutes that someone finally emerged. I had arrived earlier than I thought I would, so I understand if they weren't immediately there, but I was left waiting for a long time.

Room was smaller than the last time and the double bed feels a bit past its best.

Front of house staff totally uninterested in customer service. The breakfast waitress couldn't off been more helpful. Totally different customer service awareness.. The hotel is old dilapidated and the smell of paint was overwhelming during my stay. Strange when you have to boil the kettle on the floor because there are no plug sockets above floor level.. Great food but poor hotel. Not be back..

The hotel is exceptionally clean and well managed.

Mattress was a little on the spongy side causing "roll together". Dining room and in-room facilities had two types of sugar but no artificial sweetener option.

Staff were helpful enough, room was big.

Bed was very uncomfortable, couldn’t sleep until the nightclub closed. (Not hotels fault that, just too much outside noise).Breakfast. It was probably the was probably the worst Scottish breakfast I have ever had. Black pudding,links,potato scones were all deep fried. Deep frying black pudding makes it rock solid and taste burnt. Kinda feels a lazy way to cool it. tomatoes were rock solid and cold, scrambled egg was a congealed lump. Thought it best to just accept that it wasn’t worth eating and let my feet do the talking and leave it there.A real shame as all the staff I dealt with were so helpful.

Unfortunately there is a club across the road and the street noise when people were leaving was a bit loud

Quiet room, nice shower, lovely breakfast. The wonderful Woman on reception and serving breakfast was friendly and professional. Would love to stay again.

Booked the wrong year for my stay,Lol so turned up a year early for my stay, but the hotel staff were amazing, sorting it out for me ,the George hotel is an old place, but recently repainted and decorated, spotlessly clean and the staff were friendly and attentive, nothing was to much trouble, breakfast was amazing and the waitress was lovely, will be back, and I'll be double checking the dates next time Lol

Was nothing to not like ?

Clean bedroom and staff were friendly and helpful obtaining lactose free milk for my wife. Breakfast very good including delicacy of Smoked fish

It does need a bit of an upgrade as regards USB points and lighting
