- Old style building , very well kept with excellent staff
- Good central location.Breakfasts had good selections available.Evening meals were outstanding, with a standard menu plus specials.Presentation of the evening meals was outstanding !
- Close to town centre and near beach(for walking)
Cons -
- Nothing. Everything was positive from the minute I checked in. Checking in was a pleasant experience, bar staff were friendly and knowledgeable.
- Value for money and friendly staff
- Radiator in room was behind the heavy curtain so the heat staying mainly behind the curtain. Quite amused by that, although we lifted the curtain to the top of the radiator to allow more heat to pass into the room.

Breakfast was more than adequate. Room was fine but some of the fittings could do with a little attention, electrics and door fittings mainly. Didn't have dinner.

It's a great location and well appointed with a grand staircase feature, comfortable warm room and an excellent in site restaurant. The staff were wonderful especially Anne-Marie who served me at dinner and breakfast and was very kind in comforting me when I got a bit upset recounting part of my reason for being in the area was to scatter my mum's ashes in Brechin where she was born.
Breakfast was lovely and served very efficiently. Dinner was so nice and good portions. All staff worked really well and was very friendly. The restaurant was busy but the service was excellent.
Didn’t have anything we didn’t like. The reception staff welcomed us back as we have been a few times to the hotel.
It’s in a good location, lovely style of hotel - great breakfast offering
It’s not a dislike but just to share with others that the decor matches the hotel era.
Loved this beautiful old hotel, the traditional decor really appealed to me. The inside of the building is very beautiful from its stained glass and sweeping staircase to the friendly & attentive staff in the evening, morning & at reception. Our meals, breakfast & dinner, were exceptional.
These are really small points for me, but things I noticed was mostly that the decor in my room was a little tired. Things like the curtain was slightly faded on one side from the light, the sealant in the bathroom a little less than pristine & the shower was a bit intermittent from hot to cold & without much pressure, and my pillow was a bit lumpy. But like I said, these weren't things to bother me as the room was clean & had a lovely feeling about it. I slept very well here on our business trip.
The friendly staff, from the minute we arrived early, Anne at reception couldn't do enough for us, nice upgrade on our room. It was spacious and quiet. The evening meal was excellent too and our servers were June and Helen, both so friendly and made sure we were OK. I can't recommend this hotel enough. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was also very nice, buffet service with an excellent choice ( except there was no black pudding ) my only gripe on what was an enjoyable stay.
We have no complaints about this hotel, none.
The welcome from the staff when we first walked in was fantastic - made to feel very welcome. Room was a great size with everything you could need - only negative for us was the bed size (this was potentially our fault as we are used to a super king size) bathroom and shower were great - busy times hot water isn't able to cope with demand. The bar was really nice with friendly staff and being able to chill on a lovely leather couch having a pint or 2 was great. Breakfast was fantastic - on the Sunday it was a buffet hot breakfast - great choice and quality - weekday was ordered breakfast just as nice and if I may say even better quality - loved it. Location was great for what we needed - nice wander around the town centre and have a few drinks in 'The Picture House' 15 min walk to the most amazing beach - only mornings I saw it but beautiful sunrises. Very close to the golf course - walking distance and the main reason why we were there was to attend a game at the Links Stadium - football ground.
I did mention it above this was most likely our problem but we are used to a super king sized bed so the double bed was the only down side to the stay - when booking if possible I would /will certainly look at the biggest bed available.
Breakfast was very good
Hotel abit tired .bed sagged I the middle, we had a meal in the dining room and it was very nice
This hotel was very conveniently situated close to the town and local places to eat, we had a decent-sized room with a large balcony you could walk out onto. The opening windows were a nice bonus too.
If I was to be picky the room could probably do with a freshen up. A bit of painting and decorating. This didn't affect our stay here though
Excellent value for mo ey. Hotel clean & tidy. Breakfast was excellent. Staff were friendly & attentive.
Took is a few minutes to figure our procedure for breakfast
The location was excellent and the staff very friendly. This is our 2nd time at this hotel and we will return next year.
The gardens could do with some attention.
Location, parking, clean and fabulous food both evening meal and breakfast. Staff are lovely and friendly. Excellent hotel.

Location is excellent, great rooms, friendly staff, good food.
The older parts are a bit tired and need you
We were made very welcome. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. All staff made a fuss of our Springer Spaniel. The food was outstanding. Only five minutes from the beach by car. Beaches were superb all with free parking.
Food ok
Surprised to see dogs emerging from bedrooms including 2 Irish wolfhounds from one room.
