Cons -
- Could have been cleaner. Some of the staff could have been more welcoming.
- Maybe it could do with some modernisation, but didn’t affect my stay.
- The room was basic and the doors did not close softly as heard the next room door regularly.

It was central

Excellent hotel, lovely friendly staff , located in heart of Forfar , can’t beat it , you can get a wee swim, sauna and jacuzzi if you need to as well
Great location and friendly staff
Comfortable bed and nice breakfast
The proximity to the town centre and adequate free parking. The breakfast was good too and the hotel very quaint and historic.
The bathroom was a little small but adequate. I was OK but someone overweight or with reduced mobility might have a problem.
Swimming pool was nice, clean. The older lady who worked there blonde/white hair, was lovely and very friendly. Beds were comfy enough. Good cooked breakfast and good choice of other breakfasts.
When we arrived, the road was closed so had to park else where. Again on arrival we were told they werent serving food which wasnt great as we arrived just after 4pm and expected to eat there due to reading the menus available. Heads up would have been better for both food & parking. Luckly the stag had one table left for us to eat there. The lights above dressing table did not work. The tv remote was sticky & dirty.
The facilities were great, very central ligation and the staff were perfect, very polite and attentive
In the centre of town
Cold inside and dark need updating but okay for one or two nights
Location
Both Rooms cold 6 radiators not working, needing bleed & hairs on sink and in the bath. Also still no response from Hotel after 2 emails and a message. Very poor customer relations, very disappointed with Hotel, not value for money
Gym and pool Bar area Rooms okStaff very good Breakfast excellent
Mattresses were poor not a good sleep No shower mat in the single rooms
The location was great for our event. The room was lovely
It is just a bit basic and the staffing levels were poor waited a good 20 mins for checkin and the same for a drink when we returned later .
Great location. Clean tidy, good breakfast. The parrot stole the show
Very friendly staff. Hotel in excellent location. Good facilities. Nice breakfast.
Rooms were a bit tired. Although signs up around hotel advising of renovation. Shower was cold.
Really friendly staff always helpful.Really Good breakfast.Comfy beds.Good facilities for babies.
Breakfast was very good The room was a bit small could’ve done with a chair in there. Was there for four days and they cleaned it every other day the shower was a bit small to get into a bath to use it with a shower cubicle so it was a good four days there.
Before you said that the shower was a bit small, could’ve done with a shower cubicle and a chair in the bedroom
The staff were by far the most nicest people we’ve met in a long time. Would love to go back soon just to see the staff again, they are a credit to the hotel and Forfar. Buddy the parrot was fantastic as well.
Probably the mattress was a bit hard, but wasn’t a problem we had a decent sleep. The Link sausages I’m sorry wasn’t nice but plenty of other options to try and was lovely.
Fantastic location, good value for money. Had spa attached. Rooms all themed with a Different tartan.
Nothing. Clean, newly modernised. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Fantastic staff, really friendly and went out of their way especially looking after our friends allergies, breakfast was pretty good with ability to order to suit, evening meals were exceptional, delicious and very good value, tea and cakes available from reception at other times. loose or broken toilet seat replaced very quickly.Forfar itself although it had lots of closed shops had several cafes and other eating places plus an interesting museum and some excellent shops, (loved the ironmongers). lots to see nearby including Glamis Castle, (check online for cheaper entry).
Arrived later than expected, looked like the Hotel was shut, eventually found the reception was upstairs on the 1st floor and accessed via the leisure centre either by stairs or the small lift, Hotel parking around back was excellent but the one way system near the Hotel was strange. (don't park on the street as the wardens are red hot). Double beds were small sized for a large person like myself.
