- The owners were originally from Sri Lanka and are very warm and friendly and the food was first rate. Room was suitable for working at.
- I arrived late the manager agreed to let me. That was the only good thing
- Really nice clean hotel with good customer service and very friendly staff. Went out of their to provide breakfast early so we could eat before we left on the morning.
Cons -
- The décor was a little rough around the edges, but I'm sure it is a work in progress. Breakfast was exp for what it was, but it was well cooked. I would stay here again and highly recommend it, provided you accept the décor.
- Could not have a shower mould and rust in the shower did not want to catch anything , the seat by the reading desk heavy stained photos taken. On the website it states breakfast finished at 1100 the manager explained that was old now it is 0830. I did persuade him to let me have a breakfast at 10 wish I had not bothered 1 slice cold bacon one egg 1 thin piece of cold toast sausage was okay but cold £13 not bad for rubbish

Breakfast was good, owners were nice & welcoming.
Room was a bit chilly, bathroom needs an upgrade.
Price reflected my stay and I will stay again.Food good, staff friendly, location great, facilities were good considering price.Parking was adiquate and well lit.Well stoked bar.
I did not dislike anything,
The rooms where very basic howver provided the necccessary comforts for the stay.
We as a family new what was provided within the hotel and where happy with the rooms the food the exceptional service from the staff and the personal touches implemented to cater to my large family groups of over 30 people. Can not fault anything. We would like to thank sugath his wife, auntie and their boys and also the bar staff summer who brought the bells in with us. We will definelty return.
Good location, with car park. Attentive and helpful staff. Nice room. Good breakfast.
Location is very good
we have stayed at the northern a few times in the past and were very happy, but on this occasion We did not get the size of bed we requested and the room window was slightly stuck open, we were constantly awakened by passing lorries during the night, not happy on this stay.
Wasn't too sure about the location to start with but once inside it became irrelevant. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, friendly and welcoming. The decor was very tastefully done with the room being both warm and comfortable. Breakfast though on the pricey side was very good.
The staff were very nice and really helpful the food was good it was the hotel itself that lacked.
Very large crack in shower tray poorly repairedNo heat in bathroom in room phone broken plug broken very thin duvet for winter in Scotland used blanket which helped a bit but was stained paintwork and decor grubby needed refreshing bed needs new mattress very uncomfortable we paid £78 a night without breakfast others who booked a after us paid much more but was all that was available locally and was for a funeral the hotel hosted the wake which was very good again staff were really nice we ate breakfast/brunch in the town which was cheaper. It is a beautiful building and with some investment could be a great place to stay In future we will try an air B&B or B&B when in the area.
A quiet comfortable Hotel with good food.8
The Breakfast was lacking and did not match the menu...very little continental.6
Central location
Room very tiered Very small and rough. Shower not good broken window and most uncomfortable bed I’ve slept in for a long time.
Lovely Staff great location needs updating.
Location is the reason for the stay as limited option
shower was filthy
Not much
Noise from busy road, shower basic , out dated , lack of food options
We enjoyed having the restaurant and bar facilities for ease of meeting with family in Brechin itself. The meals were very enjoyable.
At check in the bedroom was very cold and when I queried this it was due to the heating being on a timer. In the evening after our meal it was warm then. Also one of the single beds ( pushed together which we fine with as it was a bigger room) was very creaky and noisy at the slightest movement which kept on disturbing my husband’s sleep.
From the minute we arrived until the minute we departed we realised we were in a special place. Every member of staff treated us with respect and civility and we felt part of the hotel We were there for 5 nights and so got to know them very well. Food was excellent. Recommend the "fry-up" for breakfast. . Bed comfortable. Room very clean as was the whole hotel.
Having to leave at the end of our stay. If or when we are in the Brechin area in the future we will not hesitate to book a room here again.
Location as needed for working in the middle of Brechin was great as it was very central. The staff were definitely the highlight. They couldn't have been more nice or helpful and were incredibly lovely.
The entire property is incredibly dated and tired, which just didn't match the price of the rooms per night. For that price, I've stayed in much nicer properties. Additionally, the bedrooms were tidied but not very clean - there was black mould in the bathroom, stains on towels and hair on the sheets on my bed. My coworker had a similar experience in her room.
Accessible, parking available on site, breakfast ok, staff were friendly.
Burn marks in carpet, limited lighting inside. We had a large round room that felt like a porn set to be honest.
