Elegant Scottish style and easy access to the Town and Oyster Festival.
A good variety of breakfast food Very friendly helpful staff

Pool and sauna. Good breakfast.
Bed was hard
Staff were exceptionally nice, helpful and friendly.
Value for money didn’t seem right. Didn’t like they asked for extra money because I had a pet only after I booked, but glad they took pets. And glad it was only £10, but why take it at all.
Hotel staff everywhere were excellent, food in the restaurant was superb and a wide range of choices at breakfast. All areas of the hotel were spotlessly clean. Unfortunately we only stopped the one night as we were on a Stena ferry the following day.
Not a dislike really, more an observation, thought some of the bedroom furniture is a little tired.
It was close to the ferry line.
Only 1 small electrical outlet in entire room and bathroom. Room smelled moldy and was extremely warm with no fan or AC provided.
Location great, food good, people nice, room comfortable, but a little tired.
Nothing other than the very early start courtesy of P&O.
Very friendly helpful staff. Room ok. Location good. Dinner good meal. Did not eat breakfast.
Swimming pool, jacuzzi and locker room were old and unsanitary. Definitely need a major renovation.
Exterior of the hotel looks nostalgic. Staff were polite. Breakfast was pleasant.
We were really disappointed with the state of the property. We don’t mind dated decor or a sense of nostalgia, which is what we expected. Instead we found falling-apart furniture, unclean conditions and out of date policies. Our room had three chairs, all of which were dingy and had literal holes worn in them. There were cobwebs in the ceiling corners and on all the light fixtures. The drain of the bathtub was full of hair. The phone was broken. Toilet handle was broken. The Wi-Fi was so slow I couldn’t accomplish the simplest task. The walls were paper thin, so we heard everything — luckily a slow time when we visited. (a Sunday night). And there were absolutely zero kid-appropriate channels on the tv.Further, my kids were really excited about the pool but they close it at 8pm and it didn’t open again until 9am. As we arrived right around 8 and had to leave the next morning, my kids were very disappointed. I have never stayed at a hotel with a pool that closed that early — it’s typically at least open to 9 or 10pm. Btw ladies, don’t pack a hair dryer or expect to do our hair while staying here! Value for money, friendliness of staff and a great breakfast
Not much
This hotel certainly feels more like a four star hotel than a three star. Room size was fantastic food was good and the staff were excellent. Exceptional value for money. Would highly recommend staying here and we will be back.
Interesting history!
The listed photos show a very different hotel. It’s definitely aged a lot more than is displayed. A lot of the facility was unable to be used while we were there (pool, gym etc) and there seemed to be very few patrons. Beds were super uncomfortable and most of the hotel had an unpleasant smell. Definitely in need of an upgrade!
Had a big room with a view of the sea which was great. Great breakfast with quick service. We also enjoyed the dinner at the hotel. Staff all friendly.
Ours was a one night in and out stay. No breakfast. Everything was perfectly adequate. Cleaning and drink tray were highlights. Pool was good. Great proximity to ferries.
Had issues with Internet (easier to access plug-ins would be nice too).
We stayed on Friday 1st May as we were taking the Ferry from Stranraer to Belfast so it was literally to get our head down for the night as we didn’t get there til 8pm, and checking out about 5.30 AM. It was easy to find, in a tiny little village, perfect for the ferry and onward journeys along the coast. Our room was a double on the 2nd floor - room 98 and it was really big, really warm, a sound bathroom. Plenty big enough it was bigger than my living room xx
I didn’t not like anything really, it was a base to get our head down and get a shower etc. it was a bit dated but so what it was clean and that’s all I cared about xx
The evening meal and breakfast were both lovely, and the staff were friendly and attentive througout.
Some areas of the hotel look a little worn out (carpets on stairs and changing rooms for the swimming pool, outer windows need painted).
Great evening meal
Breakfast not the best no tv in room
All staff made us welcome, food was excellent, Brilliant Pool & Spa facilities, Games room with Snooker, Pool, Table Tennis, board games, indoor Bowls and a Curling ice Rink.
