We were guest at a wedding at Colshaw Hall. So this was an ideal location. Breakfast was really good. Staff very pleasant.

Love the surroundings, the pub downstairs is wonderful too. Pretty close to the wedding venue too.The room itself is a good size, very clean and beds were incredibly comfortable.

There was a warm welcome at the Dog and the receptionist carried our case upstairs. Our room was clean and very comfortable with a lovely view across fields. There was a wide choice at breakfast, and the food was copious and well cooked using ingredients from local farms. Although the room was above a pub there was little noise from below and, indeed, it was relaxing to go down for a drink before bedtime.

Rather too many dog pictures for my taste - but the pub needs to live up to its name!

I had the pleasure of staying in your Dalmatian Room on Tuesday 25th March 2025. It was a beautiful, well equipped room and the decor was modern and very tasteful. The only problem was I didn’t get to spend enough time there. I was booked there as I was attending a wedding in the nearby Colshaw Hotel so my time at The Dog was limited. I had the full English breakfast after my stay and it was cooked to perfection, really good quality ingredients presented beautifully. I had also attended The Dog on the evening before the wedding with 2 friends for some food. I had the Steak and Ale Pie which was absolutely delicious, home cooked and cooked perfectly. And both my friends enjoyed their meal immensely. Your Hotel is a beautiful country pub, in a fantastic location, modern and tasteful decor with a very welcoming atmosphere. I didn’t have a dog with me but dogs are welcome in the Hotel so fantastic for pet owners looking for a special getaway. The staff that I had dealings with were all very friendly, helpful and provided a first class service. This is a lovely little Hotel in a great location, great rooms , great food and great staff. I’d stay again and I’d certainly recommend to my friends and family. Superb ? Thank you for making my short stay very enjoyable. RegardsMary Prentice

Lovely night away for a wedding. We stayed in The Labrador Room this was beautifully decorated. All the staff we met were kind, helpful & friendly. The breakfast was delicious too.

The room got really warm, even with the window open & curtains closed - this couldn’t be helped as we had a hot day in March.

The staff were very welcoming and helpful, they were able to recommend dishes and the food was lovely.

Maybe obvious, given the name, but there were a LOT of dogs at lunch time. I felt surrounded.

We received a very friendly welcome, a warm, clean and comfortable room and enjoyed an evening meal and delicious breakfast. The staff were pleasant, chatty and helpful and also made our dog feel at home! If we need to break our journey when away from home again we would definitely look forward to a return visit!
