Good location, friendly staff, liked pool and great breakfast

Wallpaper peeling off in the swimming pool, broken sunbed. Only given min no of tea bags when I asked for more i was offered just 2 more, and the reptionist said he couldn't get anymore, probably be cause he was eating his microwave meal. Not value for money and very over priced. Will not be staying again. Definitely not 4 star

The breakfast was great, the spa experience was amazing. The bed arrangements with towel swans and petals. All in all great

Nothing for the kids even the swimming pools kids are not allowed. It is not for Family. Even after paying heavy nothing i got for Kids. Booking.com should write properly for the property.

The foul odour in the bathroom. Windows permanently wet, it is a beautiful old building, but would benefit from secondary glazing to keep the authenticity.

Pub dinner at the fat Abbott. Were pre warned about age limit for pool but big shame access limited

Room was tired, had people walking past and previous guest contact lens rubbish still in the bathroom (could have been worse). Staff didn’t seem super interested or attentive. No pool access for u18

Staff were very polite and friendly. Location was good

I personally like to charge my phone and use it as a bedside clock but there were no sockets by the beds

An excellent experience with wonderful staff a fabulous spa experience and a delicious breakfast. Staff could not do enough during the stay.

The food in the fat Abbot , the pub ,in the grounds of the hotel was fantastic!

On arrival the people in the room opposite had very loud music on , I mentioned this to reception and they did ask them to turn it down. They carried on being very noisy until midnight. The beds and pillows were hard. Breakfast was appalling. Plates were cold , with a sign next to them, that said hot plates! Extremely busy dining room, with very little food available. Waited 5 minutes for the eggs to come from the kitchen, & when they did were uncooked . No hand sanitizer available for guests anywhere in the dining room, not ideal for a buffet, with guests helping themselves. Sausages were undercooked. Electric towel rail, fell from the wall, when 1 of our party took a towel from it. Good job they managed to hold it, untill the other guest came to help. This would have been very dangerous if somebody had been in the bath.

Nicely located near to York, and minutes away from York outlet. The layout of the hotel and spa were great, and a really cosy setting.

The room was advertised with a bath, which wasn’t a part of our room (64) which was disappointing as my wife is pregnant and was looking forward to a comfortable bath as we don’t have one at home. The bathroom in the room smelled a little foisty/damp, but I appreciate this is hard to tackle in a room with no external vent.

Really nice and homely hotel had a wonderful weekend stay and already booked again for September.

Breakfast time really busy and long queues for buffet breakfast, when I eventually got to the front there was a wait for replenishment. I ended up leaving without breakfast as I had a appointment in Leeds, but overall my stay was excellent.

Lovely swimming pool, liked that it wasn’t too busy.Very comfortable bed.

The towels looked slightly dirty and a couple of hairs were on the sink.

Staff friendly

Gym equipment was very rusty, swimming area wallpaper coming off.Could not get a meal in restaurant sat alone in breakfast area it was freezing cold.Breakfast couldn't cope with demand so busy.

Friendly, helpful staff who all worked very hard to ensure everyone had a pleasant stay. Lovely cream tea and evening meal. Wide variety of choice at buffet breakfast. Excellent gym and spa facilities. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

The only small criticism is that the toilet in the female changing room was not working but we are sure that this will probably already be fixed.
