I've always been so impressed with The Cat & Lion and am a returning customer after several great stays last year whilst travelling for work.Spacious, clean and comfortable rooms with lots of hot water and comfy beds. Friendly and professional staff. Well-cooked food with a wide menu for both dinner and breakfast. The Plant Breakfast is delicious! Very convenient location with lots of free parking, and always feels safe and welcoming for a lone visitor.Highly recommend.

Stayed on a cold December night. Although the pub was diffuclt to find (put in 'Cat and Lion' then the address, rather than just the post code) we had a warm welcome. The accommodation is a block right next to the pub. Whilst it has it's own reception, this wasn't manned at the hours we were there - so we checked in and did all business through the bar staff. The bedrooms were large enough to have twin beds plus a single chair, ceilings were not too high - meaning the heating took effect quickly. Windows possibly only single glazed but room warm enough and no noise outside at all at night. TV was very large. Beds were super-comfortable. Large-ish shower head was over bath and there was plenty of hot water. Near Christmas - so booked in for dinner that night - a good move as it was very busy (good sign). Breakfast the next morning was a choice of cereals plus cooked breakfast options - and our were wonderful. Very well placed for overnight stay between London and North Wales

Old style customer service. The staff are faultless - exceptional customer service and with a smile.Rooms are cozy and warm and considering how close you are to the M56 its virtually silenthighly recommend. the bar and restaurant (one and the same) are a short stroll from the rooms and its very easy to go beyond the school night beer quota . Always a nice atmosphere from a dinner alone to a couple of pints watching the footie.

bathrooms could do with a bit of love, but they do the job.

Having problems booking a room a several of the previous hotels I had used . I saw your place . booked it with trepidation as unknown .However I was immensly satisfied with your hotel

The flickering lights seemed strange

The hotel is located close to the highway exit, you do not hear highway noise. The room was large, had a small table and ample room for luggage. The breakfast had both hot and cold options. There was lots of free parking in a well lit lot. The shower had good water pressure and hot water.

The bed was a bit soft. The fan in the bathroom did not turn off after turning off the light. We kept the bathroom door closed so as to not hear it.

Check-in easy and fast. Booked a family room and had plenty of room; Large bed plus 2 sofa sleepers. Dinner was good and they had lots of local beers on tap. Lots of plugs, especially USB ports that finally did not need power elsewhere to work. Breakfast had many choices including an excellent English breakfast.

Internet in room 26 not that strong.

Roomy rooms comfortable beds/bedding.Lots of additional tea/coffee available at reception to take/use in your room.Nice & peaceful evening, no noisy neighbours.Lovely cooked breakfast (sausages very tasty).All staff polite, friendly & welcoming, good service.

We were staying for 2 nights & no one came into our room to make beds/replace towels or quick Clean up. (I’m tidy & did it myself on the second night as when I realised, not sure if this is normal or a one off). We were in the area for a family wedding booked two rooms & they were nowhere near eachother room 5 & 19. Didn’t complain just got on with it as had a busy weekend.

Room was a bit dark. Need better lighting. Nice full length mirror but no light near it.

It was fine although no hollandaise sauce for the eggs benedict.

Rooms a little tired, chips in the bath and shower needs a bit of descaling to run properly. Nothing that serious of course but reason for score

Location and price

No choice of breakfast due to lack of staff. Not great management considering part of the deal. Went elsewhere.

Very quiet bedroom. Loved the spacious bathroom with walk in shower. Good food.

Food was excellent, cooked just right. The staff were caring.

In room, No tray to hold cups, tea bags etc, they were put in the cups so we had to pour them out onto the bench top. Sideplates not offerred with meal at breakfast. Chef got breakfast order wrong twice.

Complete package very good. Evening meals specials, locally brewed drinks, breakfast, staff and rooms. Plenty carpark space which is free and not a add on like other locations now. Great location for travels, close to M6, M56 and M62.

Was advised breakfast times were changed from 10am to 9.30am finishing time. Pity the start time wasn't changed from 7am to 6.30am so travelers can be on the road by 7am.

The room was clean, cosy and quiet. It was totally separate from the pub side of things. Breakfast was excellent with a great variety. Also the Cat and Lion made good accommodation for any allergies.
