Pros +
- room and bes were a good size and also the bathroom. Clean towels. excellent location, walking distance of the cathedral and castle.aR
- This hotel fit our needs. Easy access to the rail station. Taxi services were great. There were convenient stores in close proximity. The need was comfortable and the en-suite was nice (with a few caveats). While there were some slight issues, I wouldn't hesitate to re-book.
- Great location in the town centre. Free parking. Staff helpful and friendly.
Cons -
- No bar or restaurant. Only tea and coffee making facilities in the room. no shower practical as no shower curtain. Claw foot tub in the middle of the room. only warm water. only a duvet cover on the bed. no top sheet or blanket.
- I'm not going to be harsh here. The hotel is on a thriving High Street with an Active Night Life! Expect rambunctious people until almost 2am. The building was a maze! Not too be confused with amazing. Going from reception to the room took Dora the Explorer and Carmen Santiago! While I absolutely loved the spaciousness of the en-suite, the toilet was unnecessarily elevated. If you are short (like my wife), you'll feel like a toddler. At 5'9", it was different, your feet don't touch the ground. But not a deal breaker. There was a slight cleanliness issue. Our room needed a door latch replacement. It served our needs. Warning, most convenience stores close at 11pm. The food stores that are open late are not value, but this is not a reflection of the hotel. It's a cozy hotel. I'll go back. It's not accessible. So if you have luggage, children, or disabled, you might want to consider something else.
- Room was tired, minimal hot water in the shower, bed was two joined together but dipped in the middle- quite uncomfortable.

Great location in the town centre. Free parking. Staff helpful and friendly.
Room was tired, minimal hot water in the shower, bed was two joined together but dipped in the middle- quite uncomfortable.
Location was fantastic for exploring the castle and cathedral and the centre of Rochester. It was an historic building,it would be lovely to see it back with restaurant facilities, but we felt very happy with our stay at a very reasonable price. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Cleanliness of corridors ,room was fine.
It was on the high street. The bed was comfortable. We only stayed one night.
The carpets were filthy. The paper was peeling off the walls. The curtains were half hanging off. The net curtains were stained and fraying. The toilet roll holder was hanging off the wall. The internal door to the bathroom hadn't been painted and was left with a base coat from the supplier. While we were resting, a staff member entered our room using their key and did not bother knocking. There were no apologies.
The price and location
The view from the bedroom, the outdated drafty windows and décor
Good location and budget price
The room needed a new bed and decorating No wifi
Very handy being in town.
Didn't realise because of the festival that we couldn't park. But thats not the hotels fault. Also a very suspicious scuttling going on in the room throughout our stay.
Good location
The WiFi wasn’t working and the hotel has awful signal so couldn’t get 4g/5gWhen we arrived there was no one on reception to check us in for 20 mins, although she was lovely and very helpful when she did arrive. The room smelled bad, stale cigarettes (the smoke alarm had been covered with a carrier bag clearly a long time ago) and it smelled musty and unpleasant. The carpets need a good hoover and clean, they were dirty and stained. The nets on the windows were full of rips and there was something sprayed up the wall near the bathroom. The beds were very firm and only supplied with 2 incredibly thin pillows. We were only notified 1 week before arrival that you can’t access the car park between 10am and 4pm, despite that being the time of checkout and most likely the time of check-in too, so had to park at local mutlistorey and pay to park, plus walk with our bags.
It was clean
Old outdated and was advertised and paid for breakfast but this wasn’t available as the bar area was being refurbished.
Fantastic location, easy to book in and lady on reception very helpful and friendly. Room clean.
Room was quite warm.
Was gd location
The room I had was ok the first night but on the second day I got locked in had to call reception and then they eventually came and said thelock was knackered and not working so I had to change rooms.
Good location. We were in Room 21 this time, it overlooks the High Street, so during the week is quieter than the rooms overlooking the Courtyard. The bed was softer than we normally like, but it was comfortable and the bedding clean.
A drop of oil on the bathroom door hinges would stop the squeaking!
The location.
The hotel is extremely tired looking and the room we were allocated needs a complete overhaul, if truth be told. We appreciate that the hotel is a few hundred years old, however we have stayed in older hotels of much better standard. The staff, when on duty were lovely, but the hotel does require improvements. Just being honest.
Quick booking in system, friendly reception staff.Very helpful and professional. Great room every think you needed for a great stay. Great value for money. Rochester Great to visit, great shops and good quality restaurants.
The staff were the best thing in this hotel! Friendly, bubbly personalities, speedily fixed the aerial when tv wasn’t working. Perfectly situated for night life. If you have mobility issues all the stairs will be a problem ( no lifts) Ask for a room that’s not above the nightclub, take ear plugs! This is not the Ritz!
This place is in a great location. It's fairly priced and the reception staff are all helpful and friendly. They don't have a bar etc but you are right on Rochester high street so not needed. I often stay here as a single woman as it's safe to get back to. If you want the Ritz you'll be disappointed but if you want a well priced, central hotel. This is it.
Location is good. Friendly staff. Possibly no staff after 8pm though ?Usually noisy next door from day & nightclub but not too badGoodish value for UK
Internet U/S TV also poor but possibly as internet U/SGetting old But goodish value
I liked the fact it was close to high street however it was a bit noisy
My friends rooms were above the night club which wasn’t ideal!!
Location was near to where we were visiting
Not fresh could do with some paint and carpets being washed. Not enough plug sockets or extension leads .
