The hotel had character. The room, especially the bathroom, was spotlessly clean. The food - breakfast and dinner - was of very high quality. All the staff that I dealt with were super friendly and helpful.

The weather, but I guess this was outside the hotel's control!!

Good location for us. Lovely country inn with comfortable rooms - great atmosphere and food. Very clean - staff were very accommodating and friendly.

The rooms are newly decorated, clean and modern with the exposed wood beams. The bed is so comfy! The bar and restaurant are also beautiful. I’d say the outside is deceiving to the inside of this property.

I had no negatives. But if you are a light sleeper the floors creak slightly but that’s to be expected from an older property.

Great location, wonderfully appointed rooms, friendly staff and great service.

The staff were very friendly, wide selection of meals & the food was very good.

Our First Night..Difficult To Sleep..Very Noisy (Loud) From The Room Next Door The Owl Room..Until 3.30am...I Had To Bang On The Wall..Then The Noise Stopped Thankfully So We Could Get Some Sleep..They Checked Out in The Morning..So Thankfully We Slept Well in Peace Saturday Night..Other Than That It Was A Lovely Place..

I loved everything about this place. So cosy and clean and I had the room you are allowed to have dogs in! Very welcoming hospitality and the breakfast was great, with a lovely choice of cereals, yoghurts, continental mixed pastries and fruit while you wait for your choice of a cooked breakfast. The dinner menu I will need to try next time. Cosy timber beamed pub/hotel.

Stayed here for five nights from San Francisco to visit family in Newton Abbot. Great location for what we needed. Great service in the pub, the restaurant, and housekeeping. Loved the historic nature of the building and how they’ve updated it but kept so much of the character.

Everything, conveniently situated so we could visit family! Breakfast was lovely. Room very comfortable and spacious.

Lovely friendly pub location. Great breakfast and lunch / dinner options too.

Nothing to dislike but you do need a car to get here.

It is a fantastic grade II building, full of atmosphere. Staff were very welcoming. Bedroom was lovely and very clean. We had a wonderful roast dinner.

I didn't get on with the bed pillows.

Lovely welcome and cosy bedroom. Pub was busy with good service. Quiet nights sleep and tasty breakfast. Very nice hosts. Great stay with everything you need. Pretty Xmas decs was a bonus.

Great staff who provided excellent service whenever required. Room was spacious, warm and well appointed. Cleanliness was another positive. All in all....very pleased ?

We loved our stay here. I was a bit apprehensive as it was attached to a pub but it didn’t disappoint. I would stay here again and again. Room beautiful and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food in the pub was 10/10.

Beautiful property, lovely rooms, welcoming and attentive staff. The beds were so comfortable and the rooms had everything we needed. Great value for money.

My only issue was the continental breakfast, it was a little disappointing for the money. My husband had the cooked breakfast which was delicious but I don’t like a heavy meal to start the day. A few more pastries or breads would have improved it.

This was our third stay at The Barn Owl. Whenever we visit family/friends in this area, The Barn Owl is always our first choice. Karen and Gerald, along with the rest of the team, are so kind, welcoming and friendly. The rooms are just lovely. Beautifully presented, spotlessly clean and always so peaceful at night. The en-suite bathrooms are equally lovely, again spotlessly clean, with complimentary shower gel and shampoo if needed. We had dinner and breakfast as well at The Barn Owl and both equally delicious. Lovely food, beautifully presented and always piping hot. You are always made to feel very welcome and nothing is too much trouble. Thankyou so much.

I had a lovely one-night stay here. The hotel is fantastic value for money, with gorgeous, spacious country-style rooms and brilliant service from start to finish. Dinner and breakfast were well priced and served promptly. I would definitely recommend it to anyone in the area. The staff were so kind and even posted an item back to me that I had accidentally left in my room. I really could not recommend the hotel and the team enough.
