    Pros +

    • The refund. We traveled all the way down from Dorset only to be told the hotel was closed!
    • I’m not sure where to start, but the hotel conditions are unacceptable. It doesn’t seem like there are any proper policies or health and safety standards in place. The room smells , everything feels dirty, and the lift doesn’t feel safe to use. The windows are broken, and overall the room is in shocking condition.I can’t believe a hotel like this is still operating in 2025. The photos on Booking.com look completely different from what you actually get. I was so shocked by the state of the hotel that I couldn’t stay and had to leave..Please don’t waste your money. You will be extremely disappointed, and when you arrive, you will be shocked by what you find.
    • The only thing that I can rate good about this hotel is the woman in the morning on reception who apologised for the experience we had!!

    Cons -

    • The night manager was very apologetic that we weren't told about the hotel being closed.
    • Me abd friend had a room each, my friend accesssed her room to find diety laundry bags of laundry in her room to start with, went over to my room to a freezing cold room, remote control for the TV did not work, the electric socket on the desk was wobbly and nearly hanging off, the toilet seat loose and also a massive crack down through our window, then to be told we had a curfew, had to be back in the hotel for 11pm, I explained we was staying here due to having a works Christmas party at the Atlantic hotel, the manager explained there was no security or anyone on reception to leave the doors open due to sickness I said it wasn't good enough as we would not be back by 11 so would we be looked out he said he would personally leave the doors unlocked for us and be there himself for when we came back, we came back around 1oclock possibly before to be looked out of the premises, 2 young girls left on the doorstep in cold winds and rain right on the sea front to a letter on the door to ring a number which we could not even get through to until nearly 2 hours later. This hotel is shocking and I would never return here!!
    • I have nothing negative to say in regard to my multiple stays at the Beresford.

Incredibly welcoming, helpful & welcoming staff. The hotel is homely and has a old worldly feel and vibe. I have returned on many occasions due to the overall atmosphere and sense of history of the building. I love this place

I have nothing negative to say in regard to my multiple stays at the Beresford.

Location was brilliant,Receptionist very welcome and friendly, lovely views,Room comfortable and equipped with what was needed.

Heating didn't work in our room so bit of a cold night otherwise everything was great.

A room with a seaview was amazing, comfortable bed, friendly staff, walking distance to a supermarket and the beach, located a bit further from the high street, but nice and quiet, and right next to the train station

The room size was a bit small, but overall it was a good value for money

The Staff were all lovely and welcoming. They gladly accommodated us with anything we needed. The location was perfect. Views over a surf spot are marvellous. Smart TV, great WiFi, tea tray restocked when needed. Clean, warm, seating and table fine, blackout curtains, ventilation. Fab. Fantastic value budget hotel, looking forward to booking again :) Rosie says 'Thanks for the treats!'

The divan was a tad old and collapsed on the door side, so had to prop it up with a pillow underneath. There seems to be a drain smell which is either in the air outside or internal.. couldn't quite tell, but left windows open to combat it anyway.. the hotel front door is very stiff to open, difficult to squeeze through at times.

    7DavePosted on: 11-7-2025

The location is very good and if you have a sea view room you will be pleased.

If the weather is bad then the sound of the waves can disturb sleep.

    2HelenaPosted on: 11-4-2025

    Very poor

Dirty, no guests to be seen, all in darkness always

    10AmyPosted on: 11-4-2025

We had an amazing stay! Atta and his colleagues were so friendly, they made us and our dog feel so welcome! Someone was always at the desk to help with whatever we needed. Location is amazing, looking directly out the ocean and walking distance from all the town beaches and amenities.

    10ReevesPosted on: 11-2-2025

Great central position overlooking the beach. All staff are highly attentive from receptionists to the room servicing team, making my young daughter feel very special.Really good value for budget money with the best of beaches and the town centre a few minutes walk away.

    No negatives here!

Wonderful view. Comfortable bed. Everything was clean and the personal was very nice. Was a lovely stay

Too much noise from the other rooms and the hallway.

    3KatiePosted on: 10-29-2025

Super location over looking the beautiful beach. The lady behind reception is lovely and helpful.

Dirty carpets, rooms are basic, chipped furniture, damaged doors, needs a deep clean and decorating throughout. No restaurant or bar open. Hotel is cold and the heating is operated on a times which is not on long enough to heat the hotel.

    5ShanePosted on: 10-27-2025

The staff was brilliant the man who dealt with us with the bald head couldn’t have been any better he was very friendly and very polite and helpful.

The windows wasn’t sealed properly and it was windy barely had any sleep due to the whistling noise all night and the restaurant and bar wasn’t open and it didn’t say that on booking.com so had to go elsewhere.

Absolutely Lovely women on reception & Hotel Manager.

Very run down. Not very clean.

    7AriannaPosted on: 10-26-2025

The property is cost effective for the area, the views of the ocean right outside are stunning and it’s really well located. Great value for money

This is as described, the amenities are basic but the areas are clean
