    • Good Breakfast
    • The cleanliness was amazing and the rooms were spacious and comfortable.
    • Good location and lovely breakfast

    Cons -

    • No air conditioning in this old hotel. Weather was very hot and humid - had to sleep with window open because it was so hot. Ask reception if they had fans for guests and they said they had a couple but were already given out to other guests.
    • The Silks restaurante was closed. No afternoon tea. No coctail lounge. The bar wasn't open during the afternoon. The sauna wasn't working. The lift was out of order on Friday. The kettle in our room was burnt out. Dirty lift. Dirt around the windows. The bath panel had been fixed with cardboard. Very, very poor!
    • Was told we had to pay £20 per stay to use the swimming pool . No mention of this charge on booking.com or at check in. Literature in the room states guests have exclusive use of leisure the facilities yet no mention of extra cost.

Beautiful location, friendly and helpful staff, great rooms, bed and facilities. I had a sea view room, breathtaking views.

    Nothing, all good.

Lovely old building, kept well, bedroom was very comfortable staff lovely & friendly Brilliant choices for breakfast

No issues for me because I can fully understand why the hotel have taken the decision to only open the restaurant at weekends but if booking you need to be aware of what is open on site during the period of any visits.

Nice staff, friendly atmosphere, comfortable, clean. Good breakfast

Awkward parking, slow elevator, bathroom shower difficult to use. Seen better days

The location is great, friendly staff, nice breakfast.

On booking.com it said the room had a harbour view, but it didn't, the harbour was obscured by a building. Also, on booking.com there was no mention of having to pay to use the pool, this was relayed by the hotel after booking and payment which was disappointing.

    WOULD NOT RECCOMEND

No help with luggage to our room. Dirty glasses & rubbish outside our room on arrival. Weeds growing through the outdoor pool patio. Rusting pool furniture. No bar open till 6 despite the website info. No afternoon tea despite the website info. Having to pay £16.50 for a single coffee at breakfast because we had to pay ‘up front’ regardless of what we were having. Couldn’t order a taxi but could give you a number to order your own phone. Prehistoric shower requiring us to play hot & cold tap bingo. When we booked it the evening restaurant was a la cart without notice it turned into a mandatory set menu of £45 per head plus drinks. And don’t get us started on ‘THE SPA’??The whole hotel was shoddy & lacked care & attention.

Been going to the Atlantic hotel for the past few years always had a great time situated in a great place with amazing views

    Nothing I didn’t like

    9Golf79Posted on: 8-8-2025

The suite room was nice, it was large with a sitting area, bed and small terrace overlooking the sea from the side of the hotel. Breakfast was off the menu with a continental buffet as well. Parking was right at the front door of the hotel. The city was a short 5 minute walk down the hill.

Parking was very limited, but as we got there early it was no problem for us. The hotel was expensive for the level of decor and size of the room.

Perfect location with beautiful views. We had a twin room that had great sea views. Beds were comfy and clean. The cleaning staff were very lovely. Good cooked breakfast available until 10.30

Several times our key stopped working so we have to keep going back for another one. Also we sat outside in the hotel bar restaurant for a few hours and all of the tables were covered in glasses/plates not cleared for hours so the seagulls kept coming down on them. We were the only customers left having lunch so not sure why there was a delay. Not a big deal but make it hard to keep the seagulls away from us!

Terrible stay! Don't ever trust a Booking.com hotel rating - check Google reviews before booking

Do yourselves a favor and don't consider this hotel when visiting Newquay. I booked this stay as a celebration of my fiancé's birthday and our very recent engagement, wrote it on the special requests and was completely ignored. I don't know who they bribed but this is not a 4 star hotel. When checking in we were made to wait without acknowledgement for 15 minutes (timed) while the receptionist was on the phone, and then after when taking down their notes. Then in a condescending tone listed the things we had to pay for because we booked through booking.com, it was just uncalled for. We had to pay £10 per person to visit the "spa", looking nothing like advertised, with safety impaired sauna and steam room and a jacuzzi that didn't work, probably since the 80s. When we came back to our room to shower not only was the shower rusty, but the shower knobs which already looked as if the casing had been taken out, were near impossible to turn and when I finally managed scalding water came out, and while trying to shut it off it fell apart in my hands. We called maintenance and they only managed to screw the tap shut. No one apologized and their tone was as if they were doing us a favor to send someone to the room. We found out the hotel was full and they couldn't move us. Then came the breakfast, in all its disappointing glory. I cannot believe in this day and age a 4 star hotel of this size is not able to make any other type of coffee than from a plastic cafetiere which tasted disgusting. Also don't expect like in every hotel in the world, that you can pay for your charges on check out. At every point these people will stop you with a PDQ machine in hand, as if we are thieves in a coffee shop. On check out we mentioned the situation with the shower, which was a major inconvenience and all they mustered was "we'll fix it right away", which means nothing. If anyone in the Booking.

The staff were so friendly and the couldn't do enough for you, the welcome we felt absolutely made it for us. We stayed in a few different hotels in cornwall during our holiday and this one was the best

    Room was very warm

    Beautiful location and the staff

There was a smell in the bathroom that we just could not get out of the way, also no real AC so was quite hot

Ocean view from most of the property is fantastic.

It was clear at check in that booking on booking.com got me a worse room than a direct booking, my view was overlooking the extension. Direct booking guests get free use of pool, booking.com guests must pay. From the moment I booked I got a stream of emails telling me to book the resturant in advance, I would need to pay for leisure facilities on and on. None mentioned that there was a big event on one of the nights. This led to a huge queue of traffic for 2 solid hours accessing the hotel. This queue blocked me from exiting the hotel - I was forced to head to town and get a taxi to my evening meal. The hotels response we'll tell management. The car parking here is awfull, no where near enough spaces and the ones there are far too small.Breakfast was not worth the high cost, stale bread rolls, way past fresh cold cuts of meat, tinned oranges and tiny portions of cooked food. I only ate on one day and headed to one of the many quality cafe's in town for my other breakfast.
