About

Meudon, a stunning Country house and Beachside hotel nestled in nine acres of gardens, sweeping down to the property's private beach Bream Cove, think mid-century glamor dialed up against a Cornish coastal backdrop, all retro charm and confident color. Set in nine acres of subtropical valley gardens sweeping down to the hotel's own private beach at Bream Cove, it's 2 miles from Falmouth and the Helford River. The interiors carry that same confidence: bold color, pattern, and original character run through the public rooms rather than the safer, more expected country-house look. Each guest room looks out over the garden. All rooms have a flat-screen TV, free WiFi, a seating area, and private bathrooms with free toiletries. Suites have their own patio or balcony, and the Cove rooms either open directly onto the garden through patio doors or take in long views across the valley. The Restaurant looks out across the garden towards Falmouth Bay, with dinner served 6pm–9pm daily and lunch also available. Freddie's Bar stocks a serious range of whiskeys and gins alongside artisan Cornish ales from local breweries and a full wine list, poured by a team that's more casual and friendly than formal. With free parking on site, Hotel Meudon puts the Cornish coast and countryside within easy reach. Snorkeling, fishing and sailing are all on offer a mile away on the Helford River, and Yoga and SUP can be enjoyed round the corner at Maenporth Beach. Falmouth Golf Club and Driving Range, near Swanpool Beach, is 2 miles from the hotel, and Trebah and Glendurgan Gardens are 1.8 and 1.6 miles away respectively.

    Pros +

    • They were so welcoming to our dog and the walk through their lovely gardens to Bream Cove beach was wonderful
    • It’s lovely sea view and garden view. The room is newly renovated with lovely shower and bath. The food is amazing and it’s quite expensive.
    • Great location, very friendly and helpful staff, very well equipped and comfy room, wonderful facilities and perfect for a stay with your dog, who was made very welcome. Perfect. Thank you everyone at Meudon

    Cons -

    • The sound proof is so poor and you can hear the next room talking, walking around. The public area is not clean.
    • There was still a lot of dust in some locations including the shower and on the cups. And the value for money wasn’t there for many reasons, mainly for the food.
    • Their policy about dogs. They say they are welcome and provide for them in the room but It is not made clear that you cannot take dogs into to any of the public rooms apart from a glorified corridor where we were expected to eat off a coffee table height table (perfect dog height) while everyone else walked past to go to the restaurant, bar and lounge. The reception staff and the person serving in the evening were kind and seemed sympathetic that this wasn't a great arrangement but the staff at breakfast

A really nice place, in lovely grounds close to the sea, with wonderful staff! We didn't eat in, except for very good breakfast, as we'd come down to see family nearby, but we enjoyed the Christmas Eve welcome mulled wine and mince pies. There was a real bath, in a well-designed and spacious bathroom.

Very hard to think of anything: the ingenious construction makes it a little hard to find your way around at first, but you soon learn.

The hotel had such a wonderful relaxed and cosy feel to it. Staff were very nice and friendly. The decor was cosy and the hotel was very clean everywhere.

The property is in a lovely location with beautiful gardens.

The staff upon arrival were nowhere to be seen. We pressed the bell at reception a lot, and we finally gave up and went searching for someone. A staff member called Jack turned up and said he can’t do it all on his own. Was very rude and not helpful. The room wasn’t clean and the towels had brown stains all over them. I couldn’t dry myself. The room above could be heard throughout the night and struggled to sleep. Told reception, nothing was done. Upon leaving told reception and gave them the towels. The girl who was pleasant said oh that’s not good and moved on to charge us for the dinner. Just poorly managed but great potential in regard to the location and hotel.

Quite location. Nice and clean food was very high standard and the staff were very helpful .The breakfast time staff were very nice well mannered .Had Sunday roast meal which was excellent. Nice location for the summer months .

To many staircases to rooms .Parking limited when busy. Could do with a experience bar tender. To far from main Falmouth town .

Beautiful property in amazing location! 7 acres and a beach at the bottom of the garden - a bit of paradise

Stunning location, friendly staff, comfortable bed and delicious breakfast. What more could you ask for

    9EdwardPosted on: 12-8-2025

Comfortable large bed, lovely grounds and gardens, excellent breakfast, close to beach, off the beaten track

Due to staff illness there was no response to emails and calls.

    9RowanPosted on: 12-1-2025

Ground floor room with terrace and decking was perfect. Lovely comfy beds - with two kinds of pillow. Very helpful staff. Enjoyed dinner menu. Breakfast was delicious. Valley garden and beach were a bonus. Close to Trebah Gardens for a day out.

Double bed suite with terrace. Peacocks and garden view. Walked down valley garden to private beach on the coastpath.

Manageress told us to leave after one night because we complained. She is contacting booking .com for a one night refund.

    Surroundings, staff

    Dinner menu very sparse 8

    9MikePosted on: 11-24-2025

Clean, comfortable, warm, spacious and beautiful grounds with access to the coast path. Selection of welcoming lounge areas. This is a first class hotel at a reasonable price

Some previous reviewers comments were unwarranted and picky, eg not liking a painting in the rest

Incredible location. Staff go out of their way to help. Very comfy beds. Great breakfast. LOVE the jungle grounds and private beach. Stayed for first time on September with my partner (after friends recommended we visit) and loved it so much that I booked a return visit with my best friend to give her a treat! Will definitely be coming to stay again.

No Recycling options in room - but hard to find any faults!

    10ManPosted on: 11-23-2025

The property was charming and full of character. We stayed in a large room overlooking the garden, exactly as we’d booked. The power shower also had fantastic water pressure.

    9TuiPosted on: 10-29-2025

Quiet country property with extensive garden extending to the sea. Would be fabulous in the summer. Very handy base for Trellisick garden, and the south coast villages. Lovely staff and flexible with change of arrival date. Lovely dinner looking over terraced gardens.

The heating was hot in the bedroom so we opened both windows all night, but could have done with the heated towel rail being on to dry our towels as they were not replaced each day. I love dogs, but find their acceptance in hotel rooms and dining areas extraordinary in the UK. It’s a general observance not isolated to this Hotel.

    10RichardsonPosted on: 10-21-2025

Loved the location, very quiet, and lovely gardens. Plenty of parking. The room was very warm and comfortable. Plenty of hot water and nice bathroom and shower. The bed was very comfortable with good quality bedlinen. We only had breakfast, but the dining room was lovely and the food excellent. All the staff were very professional, friendly and courteous. We had a fabulous stay here.

We liked everything about the hotel - no negatives at all.
