    Pros +

    • Comfortable room and bed, excellent dinner. Not cheap but one of the best places to say just outside of Hertford.
    • The pub was ok and the bed comfortable.
    • The staff were incredibly friendly and very helpful. The room was lovely and the pub itself is really nice too.

    Cons -

    • Bedroom door a bit sticky, but a minot issue.
    • The hotel was not clean, in my the bathroom in room 5 there was pubic hair in every corner of the bathroom. The skirting in the corner was heavy with black mold and the shower tray over flowed with the shower within 2 mins. The room was not serviced until approx 3 pm .Access to the rooms is via a rear exit with bags of dirty laundry stacked outside and black bin liners of rubbish. The pub is closed on Sunday night with no food or drinks served for the public or residents. At night the pub premises is unattended with no staff present and the rear doors open and unlocked. There are ironing boards and irons in the hall ways and cushions stored in black bin liners. Not great experience. We had a meal in the restaurant and the Roasted Root vegetables with quinoa was so bad the waitress willingly refunded us when we paid and agreed that the dish was not good - her words.
    • A bit expensive in my opinion but still a very nice venue.

Lovely room & great food.Directly above pub so hard to get to sleep when busy

    Very good

We have stayed before at the white horse & have had no problems but this time we had no hot water in the morning for showers & they said coz it’s an old building & that everyone must have had a shower the same time, well that’s not good enough ,we waited 2 hours for water to get hot again & still no hot water at all, time to update your system then isn’t it, & we have a big concern as we are in the same room for 4 nights in July for a wedding let’s hope we don’t have the same problem again !!

Good bathroom, comfy bed, spacious room, good quality coffee and tea in room. Nice and warm. Staff friendly and helpful

Looking a little tired. Bedroom carpet seen better days. To be fair the decorators are making their way through. Breakfast not included and eggs royals from menu which we purchased was not the best: stale roll, Luke warm sauce, grey smoked salmon. Didn’t complain as we were in a rush so they might have put it right given the chance.

Nice and friendly and clean and comfy room, although would have preffered not at the front over the tables outside and we needed a better Blackout blind as the lights stay on .The bed was very comfortable and we slept very well once the pub closed. We had breakfast and it was excellent would reccomend the food ,have eaten there a few times ,never dissapointef.Great service too.We will stay again as its a lovely pub/ hotel but maybe ask for a room further back.I guess when you book a dealits pot luck but will pay full next time.

The room was at the front of the hotel/pub so the black out wasnt sufficient and some guests were noisy

Lovely welcoming pub/restaurant with comfortable stylish accommodation.

A little dark over the mirror in bedroom to dry hair, could do with an additional light.

It was our second stay, we like the village location and the peace at night. The rooms are quaint with their uneven floors and character.

In a fair comment, I would say that It wasn’t as clean as we would have liked. The carpets were not too friendly on white socks, which was a real shame and could be avoided. On this visit, the room we were allocated was very small. We asked, politely, if a slightly more spacious room was available, but unfortunately it wasn’t. I rebooked this, our second stay, thinking the rooms were all of a similar size. Perhaps I was just naive as we’d stayed before.

Clean comfortable beds. Clean bathroom.Very friendly, approachable staff.

Bedroom too cold, couldn't adjust radiator. Neither bedside lamp worked.Lots of dust/crumbs between the twin beds(had been pushed close to each other)Not enough tea/ coffee. No decaffeinated coffee. Not enough biscuits.Breakfast was just ok, not hot enough.Toast just slightly warmed bread. With two cups of coffee each breakfast cost almost £50 for two. That would be fine if quality of ingredients had been better.£115 for room and £50 for breakfast. Not really value for money.Had to eat breakfast in bar, restaurant area much nicer, would have preferred the option of eating there.

breakfast served too late for a business traveller. Room and en suite very comfortable. Evening meal excellent.

Website is out of date (still Xmas details!).

Really lovely room, stayed before will again, close to where we wanted. Comfy bed and plenty of room.

I loved the lights in the restaurant and the decor. The room was quirky and had a lovely comfortable bed. The restaurant had a very good menu.

Room was clean and hotel/bar great. Staff excellent. Location perfect.

Wi-fi was poor when the pub was busy and no signal in the bar area. I did mention/complain about loud banging (sounded like someone trying to kick in the side entrance doors) around and after midnight. Did ask when checking out if they find out what it was once they've checked CCTV and let me know. It woke us up twice!

Have stayed before and will stay again, always the best recommendation. Friendly staff. Easy parking.

Stayed when it snowed. Bedroom was warm but bathroom wasn’t. Also hot water to basin took a couple of minutes to come through wasting water. Shower was good though. Bar and restaurant service was slower than usual, but the food is always good.

Very clean and comfortable - bed great

Closed on day we stayed - had problems opening outer door!

    8IanPosted on: 12-7-2024

Know it well and in brilliant location. However, whilst the room was good the table surface was dusty and the tv control was dirty and sticky clearly having not been cleaned.

In addition to the above, we had breakfast the next day but were surprised to be charged for our coffee as this should be part of a cooked breakfast! Took the shine off an otherwise great stay.

Free carpark. Plenty of space in the room.

No hot water which meant a cold shower. Would be a really big problem if we had stayed longer.

Gorgeous hotel. Rooms are specious and well appointed. Always a very warm welcome from staff, especially Debbie who takes “customer service” to a new level Restaurant serves delicious food.
