Pros +
- Fab location and beautiful old building, great that parking is included too. Great stay in general, it's a little dated decor wise but that's ok with us. This is our second time here and would certainly do a third sometime.
- Convenient to the town Centre. And able to walk to many pubs and restaurants.Bar/restaurant in the property was very handy especially when it was raining.Water pressure from shower was very good.
- Location is excellent, very short walk into town. The building has a lot of character and the staff are great, so friendly. Stayed here many times and love it. Best croissants you will find anywhere.
Cons -
- Unfortunately, although we were warned at check-in, our toilet was faulty which meant that it didn't flush necessarily when you needed it to (!), I personally, would take this room out of the inventory until it was fixed.
- A little nosey from adjacent rooms, but out of Managers control.
- food for breakfast was comically bad I'm afraid.

Friendly staff, great location for Hitchen town centre
food for breakfast was comically bad I'm afraid.
Room was small, but well equipped and comfortable,Breakfast was excellent and the evening meal was very good.Staff were friendly and helpful.
Saturday night was noisy outside (not surprising), but annoying never the less. Not the hotels fault, just people using the cut through to the public car park at the back.Other nights were fine.
Ease of booking. Great position plus car parking. Comfortable bed.
Room was not ideal for two 70 plus occupants. As it involved 30 plus steps, umpteen fire doors. Accept that it is an old building but perhaps some warning should have been given.Toilet handle was just about working. The party in the ball room was noisy.. £120 for room only was too high noting it was a basic but large room.
A historic and characterful building in the centre of the town with friendly and attentive staff
Friendly staff, great location, nice clean & comfy room.
Loved the location to Hitchin town centre and local facilities. Beds were very comfortable
The carpet in the bedroom floor was dirty with a large coffee stain which was very off putting. The furniture in the bedroom was very dated and bedside cabinet didn't have handle
Location is in town centre.Breakfast is very nice and staff are very friendly.Nearby there are many cafes and pubs.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
No one at check in when I arrived. Asked in the bar and they said to ring the bell. No bell as the sign was the wrong way round. Bar staff checked me in and said breakfast was a 7am to 9am. Went to get breakfast but weekends is 8am start. No good for me as I needed to be somewhere at 9am ( I had pre paid for breakfast when I booked). Central location but very noisy and live music on Saturday night ( my room was ground floor and opposite the bar area!) I mentioned about breakfast at check out but no refund offered and I still paid for my evening meal!
welcoming although late arrival convenient parking spacious room and bathroom characterful period inn excellent access to townof Hitchin very reasonable compared to other accomodation in this area plenty of space to hang clothes
couldnt work the shower but lovely bath with very hot water were not able to open a window we did not follow these points up with staff as could not stay long
Friendliness of staff and their helpfulness. As I had made a mistake with the booking they very kindly found us a room. Always cheerful and pleasant.
Unfortunate that the parking was difficult and information unclear about the adjacent public car park. There was no food available in the Inn on the Saturday evening which appeared to be the result of staffing issues. Not a major concern for us.
The property was very comfortable and clean and it was very easy for parking on the property as well
There wasn’t anything that I didn’t like
Beautifully decorated rooms and a good size single room, But the fire doors were very noisy they seemed to slam shut rather than close slowly
Situated centrally. Staff exceptionally pleasant.
Security should be increased for ground floor rooms. At 3 am someone knocked on our door and as there was no security from the street to our room we found it scary.
Clean and tidy
The room was very cold no heating very noisy above room or to the side
Welcoming, comfortable and ideally located in the town centre. Staff were welcoming and approachable.
The locationThe staff
The mattress, room 1The noise from above at lot of the night
Ground floor room, ease of access. Friendly and helpful staff, couldn’t do enough for me. Did not have to book a table for breakfast, breakfast was very good with a great choice of food and reasonably priced.
