Cons -
- Restaurant was a little disappointing. Nice food but we ordered drinks before the starters which didn’t show up until well into the meal. Ordered extra a side which didn’t show up at all.
- There wasn’t really anything, considering how old the properly is it’s well thought out
- Quite a lot of stairs to get to the bedrooms but that wasn’t a problem for us.

Beautiful property. Stunning location. Lovely decor. Food was superb. Staff all very professional.
Quite a lot of stairs to get to the bedrooms but that wasn’t a problem for us.
Beautiful venue, nicely decorated bedrooms (I stayed in a premium); very friendly staff. Beautiful grounds.
Avoid the restaurant - I had both afternoon tea and dinner. Afternoon tea is not worth it at all, the scones came frozen in the middle. The dinner options are very limited; their younger staff sometimes forgot our requests that we had to ask twice; they also forgot to bring us breakfast to the room; spa area needs some chair so people can relax; bedrooms need to be more carefully cleaned - lots of dust.
Pet friendly hotel; Good breakfast; Nice restaurant and food; Sauna and steam room was nice.
Squeaky wall behind the bed; Fire Alarm went off at 11pm; Lower Ground floor - can hear cleaners walking early morning to the storage; Around the hotel could more tidy.
Gorgeous building, lovely history & grounds. We liked the staff & the setting, the surrounding countryside. We loved the soft bath towels & our ground floor room was a good size. We liked the pool, gym, loved the sauna & steam rooms.
The wifi was very poor. We thought we had booked a king sized bed. There was a loud fan outside which switched on for 10 minutes & off for 4. The fitness classes & music could be heard very loudly in the room first thing & at 6.30pm. We hoped for more of a spa hotel but there were no treatments available & no lounge area. It is very well geared up for weddings.
Beautiful venue for any occasion – highly recommended for weddingsA truly stunning venue with beautiful grounds, breathtaking views, and lovely outdoor seating areas. The staff were fantastic — very friendly and extremely accommodating throughout our stay.We were initially placed in a room in one of the wings, but due to a wedding taking place it was quite busy and noisy. We asked at reception if it would be possible to move to a room in the main building, and this was handled quickly and without any issue. The rooms in the main building are definitely nicer and more in keeping with the character of the property. The venue itself is perfect for weddings, with a beautiful chapel on-site and picturesque surroundings. I would highly recommend it as a wedding venue. The spa facilities were good — there’s a swimming pool and Jacuzzi, which were both enjoyable. While there aren’t many additional spa extras if you’re specifically booking a spa weekend, it was still a pleasant and relaxing experience.Breakfast was excellent with a great selection of options. We had dinner in the brasserie, which had a beautiful setting and lovely atmosphere. It’s also dog-friendly, which makes it ideal for a getaway with your pets. The location is also excellent. The hotel is close to Silent Pool Distillers, which is perfect if you fancy a gin tasting experience. It’s also very near the charming village of Shere, where the movie The Holiday was filmed. You can visit the beautiful village and see Honeysuckle Cottage, which was used as inspiration for the film. There’s also a lovely local pub on the way to the hotel, which is a great place to stop before arriving.Overall, a beautiful venue with wonderful surroundings — especially ideal for weddings and special occasions.
The only downside for us was our Valentine’s dinner in the brasserie. I understand and appreciate that the hotel is dog-friendly, which is great for guests travelling with pets. However, I don’t feel that dogs should be brought into the restaurant during dinner service. Even when dogs are well trained and sitting quietly, if another family enters with a dog it can lead to barking, which happened during our meal. It was quite unpleasant and took away from what should have been a relaxed, romantic atmosphere.Dogs in the pub area would be more understandable, but for the brasserie — especially on occasions like Valentine’s — I feel the hotel should consider politely requesting no dogs in the restaurant. The hotel has a lovely outdoor seating area where guests with pets could comfortably dine instead.I don’t dislike dogs at all, but I did find it uncomfortable in this setting.
All aspects of our stay were fantastic and the staff did everything they could to accommodate our stay.
The room we were booked into sprung a leak, the staff were exceptional and upgraded our room for our second night.
The location
I recently stayed at Wotton House Hotel from February 13th to 15th, 2026, and unfortunately, our experience was deeply disappointing. What should have been a relaxing getaway turned into a frustrating ordeal marked by poor maintenance, subpar dining, and dismissive staff attitudes. From the moment we checked in, the room’s condition raised immediate red flags, and despite our complaints, little was done to address them.Upon entering the room, we were greeted by visible water damage on the ceiling. Brownish stains streaked across the surface near the light fixture, suggesting a recent or ongoing leak. The photos I took show irregular, yellowish discolorations that look like they’ve been there for a while, with shadows highlighting the uneven texture. This wasn’t just cosmetic; it created an unsettling atmosphere, making us worry about potential structural issues or health hazards. Venturing into the bathroom, the situation worsened. Mold was rampant around the shower enclosure, with black and brownish growths accumulating in the corners, along the seals, and even in the grout lines of the tiles. Additionally, black mold was evident on the window frames, accompanied by visible cobwebs that could have been easily cleaned, further highlighting the neglect in maintenance. Close-up images reveal fuzzy, dark patches mixed with rust-like stains on the metal frames and silicone seals, indicating prolonged moisture exposure. The sink drain was clogged with grimy buildup, and the overall dampness suggested inadequate ventilation or cleaning. It’s unacceptable for a hotel to rent out a room in this state, especially in a bathroom where hygiene is paramount. Our dining experience at the hotel’s restaurant compounded the dissatisfaction. We were completely unaware that the hotel allows dogs in the restaurant—not only that, but they were off their leads and barking disruptively throughout our meal, creating a chaotic and unhygienic environment that ruined any chance of enjoyment.
Immaculate rooms, beautiful restaurant and such welcoming staff.
Lovely room, great facilities and tasty breakfast
Staff extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful. The grounds were immaculate and facilties covered our every need. We'd be delighted to stay again in the future.
A beautiful period property, with lots of charm, set in the wonderful and peaceful Surrey hills. Close to lots of forest walks.
Location
Not advised large wedding taking place. Overcrowded. Dirty glasses everywhere. Very noisy.
We felt extremely relaxed and rather at home here! The Leisure club was enjoyable and our room was very comfortable.
My only suggestion would be to add complimentary dressing gowns to all rooms, unfortunately we were able to get any as they had ran out.
Very picturesque. It was clean and comfortable and really warm. The staff from the reception to the bar were EXCEPTIONAL
We enjoyed the location and the grounds. There are lots of cosy spots to sit which is just what we wanted. They also have board games available which was a nice addition.
We felt that the food options were lacking. We stayed for two nights and the limited dinner menu was the same both nights. We also felt all food experiences were rushed by staff. The spa was also a huge disappointment as the steam room was out of action and there are no chairs to sit on around the edge of the pool.
Beautiful grounds. Gorgeous hotel restaurant and bar area very comfortable. Under a bit of a refurbishment at the moment which is needed for maintenance etc as it is such an old building. Staff are so lovely we were accommodated with an early check in and had a few extras as it was both out birthdays . Will be back.
The location itself.
The check in - given room key, no help with bags, direction to rooms. Room service was cold and restaurant never answered the phone to take order. The bar was always a 20-30 minute wait, full of empty glassware and Crockery. Woken up by doors slamming or a fire alarm every night. Fire alarm went off 9 times in 3 day stay. Wifi was weak in bar and my room - couldn't even load a zoom for work. Everything felt understaffed and under cared for. The gym is literally mouldy and old.
Rooms are comfortable, beautiful interiors. terrace and garden. Sauna. Feel of the location within the countryside setting.
Pool was very cool on that day. Bearing in mind that everything else is perfect it would be nice to see the pool and changing area given a 1st class experience makeover which would be deserving of the building..
