About
A warm welcome awaits you at this privately owned 4-star hotel, a fully restored and refurbished Victorian mansion house situated on Ayr's seafront, recapturing the essence of country house hospitality. Great care has been taken to preserve the unique character of this charming house, while every modern facility has been discretely installed for the comfort of today's discerning traveler, with easy access to the nearby Glasgow Prestwick Airport. The hotel offers a fully equipped health club with swimming pool, sauna and steam room, gym and in-house beauty therapist. All the rooms with private bathrooms are beautifully furnished and decorated to a standard one would expect from a 4-star hotel. The creation of additional bedrooms results in a great balance between old and new. The new Martins Bar and Grill restaurant was voted Best Informal Dining Restaurant in Scotland at the Scottish Hotel of the Year Awards in 2006.

- Best room in hotel looking out over the bay, fantastic view! Room was perfect, quiet and well kitted out. Had dinner and breakfast which were perfect.
- It was a super big room, the Carnegie suite. Large four poster bed. Had a jacuzzi bath not used. TV difficult to select channel and get radio working.
Cons -
- The bed was a bit uncomfortable hard mattress however the bed was massive and so was the room very spacious so that made up for it.

- Dinner: the steaks were good but the seafood lasagne was disappointing. Breakfast OK.

Breakfast was very good but not included in price. Location was lovely.
Our room was very big, perfect for a family but windows were glazed over, we couldn’t see out at all, think we were next to roof of spa which had vents coming out and extractor fans and a vibrating noise. Its nice to see out your windows !!
Location and staff were very helpful
Heating in room 49 and shower leaked
Our room was well decorated and huge. The jacuzzi bath with tv was brilliant and the bed was very comfortable. Great room, lovely staff and good food. The swimming pool and steam room was a bonus. The restaurant was warm and cosy and had lovely views. The hotel is in an excellent location.
The floor in the hall outside our bedroom was very creaky and our door moved and made a noise when there was movement. It was quite noisy and and took a bit of getting used to as it sounded as though someone was at the door. The hallway between our room and the restaurant was a bit tired and could do with some attention.
Staff really friendly and a great location.
Disappointed in the leisure centre. If we go back, wouldn’t plan to use it.
Location, staff, dinner and breakfast
Room with a sea view, very clean and comfortable. Very quiet. Good car parking. The dinner and breakfast were very good. Easy access into the centre of Ayr and lovely way along the beach front.
Nothing to add
The Restaurant was incredible! I’ve honestly never eaten such great food. We arrived in with zero expectations or knowledge as we were simply staying in a lovely hotel and decided we were too tired after travelling to go out anywhere, well we were pleasantly surprised. I had a beef pie, which came deconstructed. A plate of luscious beef, tender but cooked to perfection in a decadent gravy with a pastry bun sat to the edge (the size of a big pie), and a bed of beautiful mash, carrots, parsnips, and green beans. It was a meal that was well above hotel restaurant standards and I’ve stayed in many hotels. It was followed by a Black Forest Gateaux sundae (yes you read that right) and wow, just wow!!! The scoop of cherries at the bottom was a real treat. The whole meal, the experience, the staff, and may I say the breakfast the next morning, showed us that this restaurant put a lot of effort into ensuring real high quality is shown always. 100 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Everything about this hotel is excellent from the position the staff the food and the comfortable rooms
Nothing everything about this hotel is excellent
Great location, great staff.
Double bed wasn’t a double, two singles pushed together without a mattress topper. Bedroom was subject to a lot of noise.
The receptionist nicola was lovely
Pretty much everything else. The rooms were tired and smelly. This place seen alot better days. Breakfast was all deep fat fried. I will not return here again.
Good value with parking. Also, roomy quarters and bathrooms. Dining was plus as well.
marie in dining room was lovely. Really loud wedfing with music pounding in our room til late so unable to sleep. i only wanted a coffee and something very light for breakfast ( toast or portidge) but had to oay the full L15 for breakfast.
noise!no flexibility for breakfast
Always enjoy staying at the Fairfield Hotel love the location, booked this stay as a belated gift to husband for his birthday. Staff always friendly helpful service good too booked a deluxe room which was massive could not fault size of bedroom ,bed comfy, food always good Was only 1 small heater on wall not enough to heat large room after being in room for an hour we were both feeling cold we mentioned to reception and within 5 minutes another heater was put into room for us
The view from room looks out over roof Poor water pressure i. shower
Room service was awful
Food was awful, instant mash, cold food, too much salt. No place to eat in room for room service?? Staff ignored request
Room was excellent beautiful view. Breakfast was very good, nice selection. Location was close to town centre and the beachfront.Would recommend to anyone looking for a nice break in a lovely hotel
Not that we did not like it but, we were classed as non-residents when it came to price of breakfast as far as we were concerned we were residents. Think this should have been explained to us when we arrived
The location is very nice with a view at the Irish Sea, and we liked the Scottish atmosphere the hotel and rooms have. Staff is very friendly and helpful too.
We liked our spacious room and the friendly, helpful staff.
The room itself was nice, but it was quite cold, even with the heating on.
