About
Set in the rural region of Perthshire, the Meikleour Arms is located at the heart of the conservation village of Meikleour, well known for its impressive trees and salmon fishing. Located only 12 miles from Perth, the Meikleour Arms was built in 1820 on one of the oldest historical estates in East Scotland. The rooms and cottages have private bathrooms, free WiFi, flat-screen TVs and tea/coffee facilities. Guests can enjoy local specialties using produce from their kitchen garden and woodlands. All the meat and game come from their own butchery. The surrounding area offers outdoor activities such as angling, horse riding and hiking. The hotel also owns a salmon fishing school on the nearby river Tay and all material is provided free of charge (advanced booking recommended). The Blairgowrie Golf Club established in 1889 is only 4 miles away.

Pros +
- Exceptional in all ways. Staff cleanliness excellent food and choices. Really comfortable bed .
- Room was great, staff were professional and very helpful.
- very nice room and comfortable bed. quiet location and respectful quests. meals were nice, staff friendly.
Cons -
- Possibly a TV outside the bedroom
- lacked a full bar.
- Although the ethos of the menus were clear, the food didn't really live up. Everything was lacking seasoning and needed a bit more attention- Although my steak had a nice flavour, it was overcooked and dry when it should have been medium rare. My boyfriend had the mussels which were in a broth that needed further reduction. It was clearly good ingredients but bad execution, and felt like a wasted opportunity. Similarly, the room was gorgeous with a super comfy bed. But when it came to the sleep, the skylight directly outside out bedroom door rattled all night and made out bedroom door bang. All amounts of temporary solutions did not help and we had a terrible night's sleep. We are pretty relaxed people and didn't want to complain as the staff were lovely but although £165 a night didn't break the bank, it felt like a lot to leave feeling pretty unrested!

The rooms were beautiful as was the restaurant and breakfasts space and the staff were absolutely lovely.

Great comfortable room & excellent TV & shower, plenty of safe car park & the evening meal & breakfast was excellent
We stayed in one of the converted Stable cottages on the Estate and had a 10 minute walk to the hotel for breakfast which was most enjoyable and similarly for dinner and that set the scene for an enjoyable day and evening and gave us extra exercise. We were lucky for the weather was beautiful, but driving would have been no problem.
The breakfast was excellent and the staff are very friendly and efficient. The location is good if you want to be away from the city.
The soundproofing in the room ( Keith) is not great and as it is next to the office we could hear drawers being opened and closed and guests talking with the office staff. We previously stayed in the annex at the rear of the hotel and found this more pleasant and more pleasingly decorated.
Beautiful decor, friendly staff and excellent food
room was excellent, food was excellent, as were the staff. We could not have asked for anything else. As I am celiac, there was a good selection on what I could have to eat. Never usually get Gluten free sausages with breakfast, but I did here and they were home made
Room was a good size as was the bathroom.
The room was noisy.
the breakfast and staff were great.
The beds were a bit worn. Using booking to make the booking it wasn't as clear what room from the photos I was getting. The dinner was expensive and mildly disappointing for what it was .
Hotel bed, toilet i spacious and clean.
No lift access to the upper floor.
The dinner was delicious. Our room and bathroom were spacious. The bed was comfortable.
The room was hot. We opened the window, and a bee flew in. However, a member of the staff came and got it out.
The location is beautiful. The food was excellent using local fresh produce. The waiting staff and barman were very helpful and friendly. The lodge was tastefully decorated in keeping with the building. We enjoyed the historical aspects. The river views were stunning.
The first night we were awoken several times by very load noises from above which sounded like whooshing water with banging like a solid object knocking as the water flowed. We reported this after little sleep to the receptionist who considered it due to the heavy rain which we found puzzling. We asked to be moved but nothing was available. We stayed as we were celebrating my husband’s birthday. The noises continued in the afternoon too so a restful break it was not!
Beautiful location. Charming gardens. The Inn is welcoming and comfortable. Our evening meal was very good but the busy dining room was understaffed with only two waiters and one barman. They coped very well under the circumstances.
Cottage we stayed in was a bit too close to the main road. We were disappointed that there were no seasonal fruits (berries in particular) on the breakfast menu.
Cottage location and size were good. Missing some kitchen equipment.
Smelt of dog in spite of us having a dog it was not good. Wiped the floor with white kitchen roll and it was very dirty. The Meikleur Arms was just not consistent and the general manager was blunt and unwelcoming was gushing to some and dismissive to others. Bookings’s system is so old and outdated. Have stayed many times and enjoyed. Annoyed that I went to book direct and no availability then found Booking.com had availability and booked with them very easily. Very annoyed that I had to pay for the dog as it wasn’t booked direct?! Inconsistent food one morning 2 sausages second morning 1 sausage? All four of us found meals lacking in finesse for the price. Steak knives not offered and soup cold.
I liked the quaintness, decor and ambiance
Our room was a bit small and very warm
Charming provincial inn with the most exceptional restaurant and chef made offerings making it a complete stand out. Great convenient location and very hospital kind staff. Definitely will return
We had just returned from Amsterdam & wanted something equally as nice for the weekend. The hotel & restaurant and cottage were just perfect. Peaceful, quiet & beautiful surroundings.
Everything was just perfect. If we were to find any fault, it would be our duvet was too heavy.
The room was lovely ,beds really comfy .Loved the setting and the residents lounge and the staff were lovely especially our Spanish waitress .
Our meal was slightly disappointing
