Excellent service, staff very friendly with comfortable accommodation. I believe this hotel is under new management and I'm sure it will only get better and better.
Bathroom a little bit small but this wasn't a huge issue. It was clean and adequate for a 2 night stay.
The location was great, a 5 minute walk to the Main StreetWe stayed in the Garden Room, which is separate to the main building. The room was lovely, spotlessly clean and very comfortableBreakfast was lovely, great choice of food

Loved the room with spectacular views. Very comfy beds. A coffee machine in the room. Bliss!!Excellent breakfast.Despite weather, it was an easy stroll to and from the town.
Dinner portions could have been more substantial but it was excellent quality.
Nice hotel, comfy beds, friendly staff.
Shower didn’t work properly (temperature fluctuated from freezing to boiling of its own accord) and took forever to warm up. This is clearly a recurring issue as there is a sign in the bathroom. A working shower is a basic but fundamental amenity. For it not to work properly is unacceptable at £200+ per night. Room was nice but very small - again not really reflected in the price.
Loved our visit here. Staff was so pleasant. Room was lovely with views over the city. Way walking from downtown. And the food was amazing.
Hotel was absolutely beautiful, in a gorgeous setting and fabulous location with a lovely walk into town and down to the beautiful sites. The food was amazing and the bedroom very comfortable. We were upgraded so we had a gorgeous large bedroom.
Sittings before meals works a little strangely as you all wait in a beautiful lounge where the seating can get a little awkward when you don't know the people sitting on the couch in front of you or next to you but its all gorgeous nonetheless.
Beautiful and comfortable Hotel. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Great stay will be back next week.
The only thing we would prefer is a free standing shower, however would not put us off staying again.
Beautiful and exclusive, breakfast lovely and staff superb and accommodating.
Very quiet, no background music lacking atmosphere slightly beautiful views from the bedroom. The shower was a hardship.
The hotel is a beautiful building with tasteful furniture & decor, set up a road away away from the town centre but only a few minutes walk. There were bookshelves everywhere, including our room, which creates a relaxed atmosphere. Breakfast was good quality & served to the table not buffet style. Our room & bed were comfortable & relaxing. They provide a stuffed owl to place outside your door if you don't want disturbed which was cute.
The only option for dinner was a set menu of 4/5 courses, which was too much food for us so we went onto town to eat. If there were more options we would have liked to have eaten at the hotel. I don't think they have a bar (we didn't see one) but there were tea/coffee facilities in the room.
Having stayed here before, we knew the hotel and liked it. It’s comfortable and traditional. The staff were all lovely and friendly and looked after us well. The food was of a reasonable standard with a set menu, a little limited in choice. The chocolate fondant dessert was a triumph on my tastebuds. Our room was comfortable, if in the eaves.
We were celebrating my husband’s birthday and we’re both in our senior years. I let the hotel know ahead of booking and yet we found ourselves at the top of the building, three floors up. We managed the stairs but they may have considered this when allocating our room. I’m unsure but think the ownership may have changed hands in recent years and it’s perhaps lost its personal touch. They have an open fire which was lovely on a wet chilly evening but only lit on the Saturday night, not the Sunday, which is a pity. The Christmas decor was very pared back. It lacked a bit of atmosphere.
The hotel is very comfortable & charming. We stayed in the lovely garden room & thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The food was very good & thr staff were very helpful
Good location ,food was great, staff were excellent comfortable warm room. Would stay again.
The room is spotlessly clean, excellent facilitied and staff couldnt be more helpful.
Room was so hot on first night with heating off and windows open.
Arrived early and got in the room straight away which was great. Lovely garden room. Lovely and cosy. Bkfast was fab. Staff were lovely.
Nothing we didnt like.
Excellent dinner. Staff were also excellent. Lounge with log fire perfect at this time of year alongside pre dinner drinks.
Steep steps to garden room incredibly slippy. Room was also incredibly warm. Great if you enjoy a hot room. My breakfast halved in size over the two mornings. Bizarre.
Good selection on breakfast menu which was beautifully cooked. Hotel is very comfortable and cozy with open log fires in lounge and library.
Stairs to second floor are quite steep.
The location is only five or six minutes walk from the town shops and twenty /twenty five minutes walk to the theatre.
If you have a room on the second floor be prepared for the forty steps to your room. Couldn't get this sentence in the short space below so I put it on here Chefs food "presentation fabulous , taste exceptional, different choice of meal every day " Head chef has trained his staff very well, he/ she must be so proud of the quality they produce every day. thank you !
