Easy access to Terminus road and the shopping precinct.
Maybe the breakfast could be more substantial.
Excellent sea views from room.
Sliding door to the balcony was practically impossible to open or shut.
Good staff helpful , clean rooms
Slightly cold could have done with a heater , couldn’t supply one when I asked
Didn’t have breakfast
It took us one hour to get the keys to our room, I was even told by the receptionist that if I wasn’t happy I should go to another hotel
Not good
Room was freezing no heating working I was told it’s on a timer and comes on at 10 pm at 11pm it was still not working
Spectacular sea view and wonderful balcony
MAJOR PROBLEM. Everything would have been great, but after a night in an Executive Super Room, I was bitten by bedbugs. The hotel needs to do something about it.This is unacceptable and demonstrates poor hygiene standards at the hotel, especially regarding mattresses and bedding. I'm not sure whether I should report this to the local authorities or the National Food Safety Authority. The room was cold at night, the central heating was off, and only a small oil-filled radiator was provided. No extra blankets or pillows were provided, depending on firmness. A Superior Executive Room should be mandatory. The balcony had beautiful, large sliding glass doors, but they were unfortunately dirty, spoiling the stunning sea view.
Room was very outdated and the breakfast for 12.50 was terrible cold need a new chef
Food
Convenient location; good price. Have stayed here before and probably will again. Suits our needs as they are dog friendly.
Great location. Grand building. Good breakfast
It has seen better days. The interior is in desperate need of renovation.
Hotel, reception area, breakfast hall, sea view room, lift access.
Drinking water wasn't available even if I am ready to buy. TV is not compatible to have access to Netflix, prime, YouTube etc. Another staff member tried to interrupt in between when I was at the reception asking something to the receptionist. It was an odd experience(informal).
Location
No a/c in room, exceptionally hot in the summer and beginning of fall. The single fan provided was inadequate and did not run continually. When asked for a 2nd fan, was told there was a policy of only one fan per room.Original windows are rotting away and the interior windows installed do not open wide enough to provide adequate breeze into the room.Every mirror was smeared in the room and in the single elevator. The cleaners had not cleaned the toilet from the previous hotel guests staying our room…disgusting! The material on the bed frame was soiled and repulsive to look at. A bed skirt would have at least hid that.A big spider was in my bed, spoilt the chance of a good night sleep.
Location was good for the beach and annual air show.
Lack of water in the room. This was advised when we checked in and we were offered to cancel, however due to the airshow there was no alternative accommodation. We later found out that this had happened 3 days prior but they did not advise us of this issue when we booked or in any later emails. The number of staff was limited and clearly overworked. On the second night the fire alarm (false) went off at 2.30am and again two times later at 3am. No apology was given by the reception staff in the morning or reason for the disturbance. The best they offered was a one hour later check up time. The hotel was generally in poor condition and clearly not well maintained. Overall, not the 4 star standard which was claimed.
Location and ease of finding nearby parking.
Noisy and lots of fleas.
Location, cleanliness, politeness, efficiency and civility of staff.
No air conditioning, inefficient fan in the room and being unable to turn the heated towel rail off in the bathroom on a tremendously hot weekend. The bed was not that comfortable compared to other hotels we have stayed at nearby and in fact seemed quite old - however, the bed linen was very clean and modern.
Friendly staff at reception. Large room, slightly dated but nothing wrong with it at all. Plenty of amenities and bed was comfortable. Great location and plenty of parking available.
Nothing. There was no running water the night we arrived so we couldn’t shower or brush our teeth. The bed has stains on it and we were unable to find staff to get them to change it. There’s also a very bright green light that can’t be shut off on the ceiling so don’t expect a nice dark room to nap. The bed was rock hard too and both of us had swore backs in the morning. This is not a 4 star hotel, it’s a 2.
Everything
The location was exactly what we needed.
It’s a rundown hotel with an incredibly dingy atmosphere. The room was uncomfortable. It was so warm that we both had trouble sleeping. The window was broken so wouldn’t stay open, and multiple sets of lights in the room didn’t work leaving us to use the bathroom light to see anything. Customer service is a term I don’t think the staff has ever heard. Don’t expect to feel like a guest in the hotel.
I live old style hotels...and Cavendish is one of the best I've visit. Amazing stuff and hotel rooms match my expectations..a big and a lot of space.. definitely match the price. Love bathrooms as well. Every time I back to Eastbourne will chose this hotel.
Breakfast was good, offering a diverse array of food options and drinks. The location is ideal and fantastic, as always, with the hotel being quieter than you may think. Staff members are friendly and approachable, and they tried to help despite the lack of room upgrade options due to the heat and full booking at the venue. The room was cleaned to a good standard with 2 single beds neatly organised and all the toiletry essentials, along with complimentary coffee & biscuits available. I was also glad to see the breakfast options being restocked shortly after they had been emptied, in comparison to my previous visit. Another positive note was seeing more staff members readily available both at the desk in reception and walking around in the dining hall during breakfast for any queries or check-ins.
One downside that I discussed with the receptionist was the lack of ventilation, making it unbearably hot to sleep in, and a lack of sunlight/windows in room 062. Unfortunately, we were unable to move to another room due to an ongoing tennis tournament taking place nearby, resulting in a busy hotel environment. Although not a major concern, the age of the lift and its shakiness at the hotel is something that I have a slight worry about - I say this as I have a lift at home, and thankfully happens to be in a better state.
Location
The bed had blood stains under the linens on the pillows. there are no lights beside the bed even though there are steps that can be tripped on. The staff didnt care when the bloody pillow was handed to reception. Friends who also stay that are disabled who booked an accessible room were not given one.
