    Pros +

    • The location.
    • Breakfast was nice. Spa bath was lovely
    • Good location with good parking. It’s a chic hotel and the staff are very helpful and friendly

    Cons -

    • The restaurant wasn’t open so we couldn’t have room service . Had to walk to a fish and chip shop for dinner.
    • The room is looking a little shabby in places and basic supplies were limited or unavailable such as hand soap in the bathroom, spare toilet rolls and a good supply of tea, coffee and milk. These had to be requested - although there was no hand soap so we were given shower gel.
    • No grab rails in the showers - a real problem for a shower over the bath.Hadn't realised that the dining room was closed on Sunday.

Sea front was lovely, although the double-glazing was faulty, so the view was blurry. Staff were lovely. The Towner gallery was great - exhibitions and food.

Excellent location, nice free glass of wine.

Room a little taty in places

    I liked location

Twice in a row, we didn't get a full breakfast. Overall, the breakfast was very poor quality—a few fruits in a bowl. There was no access to hot water, hot coffee, or tea. The lady serving was too busy to ask for anything. Without an order, you didn't get anything, or you couldn't get anything because there was cold milk and butter on the table. If you pay for breakfast, it should be appropriate for the price. So, if there's not enough on the table, it's not enough for your stay.

Overall clean, staff were kind and helpful. Property is located in a good area.

Apart from one faulty lightbulb in the bathroom and the top of mirrors that hadn’t been dusted in a while, that’s pretty much it.

Lovely sea front location, very clean, well furnished and comfortable room. We enjoyed a delicious room service breakfast and the live piano music and complimentary drink in the bar was a real bonus. We would love to stay here again.

Beautiful foyer, original lift and other period features. Lovely welcoming from front of house receptionist.Room was stunning, beautiful curtains and furniture!Huge bright marble bathroom… plenty of hot water despite other reviews complaining there wasn’t! Easy to find on the seafront with ample parking.I think we may have been upgraded to an exec room after booking a deluxe, the room and bathroom were enormous! And the bed so so comfortable.

A little more attention to detail for housekeeping, bathroom was a little dusty and I was unsure if the carpet had been hoovered. But otherwise the rest of the place was very clean. I would have liked fuller pillows but I’m fussy!

lift fabulous. . Staff phenomenal , breakfast room (most beautiful room ever) bed ..so comfortable, room so clean and welcoming. Do do see pianist, amazing musician. Wonderful evening listening to great music and eating good food.

Sadly Eastbourne seems to be under reconstruction, very disappointing, we remember how lovely it was, but we will come back and hope it’s back to its usual standard .

The sea front location is a real bonus and hotel supplied inexpensive ticket for parking. A lovely welcome and a complimentary glass of wine on arrival. Wonderful upgrade to sea view room.

There were a few maintenance issues in the room which I reported. Kettle lid didn't open / internal phone not working and the flush needed adjusting on the WC. Otherwise large room - clean and comfortable.

    9RobertPosted on: 1-18-2026

The staff were very attentive throughout our stay. The room was comfortable with a great sea view. Breakfasts were excellent. We were impressed with how responsive and supportive the staff were when the contractors on the front cut off the mains water.

There were a few rough edges with the decor and plumbing, but nothing which made us in any way upset.

Lovely decor, quirky vibe, George the owner is a welcoming and kind host. Nice touches with piano player and cute little restaurants and bar .. Perfect location. Cheap daily car park permits

Shower temp wasn’t hot enough on quite a few occasions.

Very quirky and lovely but needs TLC

So needs some TLC and needs a sign on the door rather than hidden on the wall and so up high

    6SallyPosted on: 1-3-2026

Staff were lovely, very helpful Great location with easy cheap parkingNice bar/dining area/loungeFabulous old fashioned lift

Room decor was tired with marks on walls skirting and carpet. Bed linen not pristine, pillows not plump. Chef didn't turn up for evening meal so we had to order in.Strange front door!Tiny bath towels

Location right on the seafront was superb, just right for a walk along the promenade. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and provided a nice welcome when we arrived. Our room didn't have a sea view, but instead a view over the town with the South Downs in the distance. Access to our room on the 4th floor was provided by a quirky old lift! The breakfast was nicely cooked with a buffet for cereals, fruit and juices.

There could have been more space to hang clothes as we were staying for a few days over Christmas - just a short rail enough for 3-4 hangers. Shower could have been hotter.

Upon arrival the receptionist/concierge came out to our car to carry all our luggage in for us. He also carried it up to the room and reversed this on our departure. Most unusual in a hotel these days. The staff were friendly and polite and really couldn't do enough for us. The room I had chosen was large with two balconies both overlooking the sea front so I had lovely views all round. The bed was extremely comfortable and huge and the room itself was spotless. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay and I will certainly return in the future. I can definitely recommend The Chatsworth to anyone looking for a lovely welcoming stay in beautiful surroundings. Oh, and the lift was amazing, a sight to behold and experience.

Liked the location and the staff who were very friendly. Only used hotel as base so only had B and B. Liked our Executive Seaview bedroom

Not impressed with breakfast - tinned fruit salad, great big teapot for just one person. No granola, limited fruit bowl and on Boxing Morning no bacon or smoked salmon! Would have expected linen napkins for the price we paid.Hotel on the whole was quite chilly and even the pianist wore hat and coat when playing piano. Felt we did not getvalue for money.

    8UrbanPosted on: 12-28-2025

It wasn’t very clean and it was a nice historical hotel and have lots of history and it was located perfect on the beach road

It had to have a little bit of upgrade when it comes to information and in our room we had a problem with the TV who had a ghost turn it on whenever he liked it

    9GillianPosted on: 12-23-2025

Nice comfortable room with sea view.Perfect for an overnight stay before concert at Congress Theatre.

It was a shame the bar shut early....we fancied a quick nightcap around 10.30 pm after our concert finished but the bar was already closed. We weren't the only guests disappointed by this.
