The Grand Hotel

The location

Room not ready, no towels or toilet paper. Asked reception to put some in the room while we were out, only brought towels.Gave us keys that didn't fit the front door so we were locked out, went around the back and the door had been left unlocked.Other guests came in late, drunk and noisy.We barley slept.Next morning there was what looked like a broken picture in the passage and empty food containers.I would describe the room as grimy, bare minimum cleaning. I didn't take photos but should have.We left just after 8.00

The room was tiny, our bed was held up by extra wood and was still extremely wobbly , the wooden floors and furniture made the place so so noisy.

THIS HOTEL HOUSES ASYLUM SEEKERS!Myself and family never ended up stay here. No refund either. When we arrived we were told to enter through the back door. The lady looked at us weird and asked if we were sure we had booked a room there. When she finally gave us our room it was awful. Mould in the bathroom and by the beds, the bunk beds were creaky and wobbly, no plug socket for the kettle, no tv remote, the bed sheets were all creased and the door didn’t shut properly. There was an old extension lead but was not sure where or if it was plugged in and there was wires hangover g round the room. No refund given and booking.com were no help either.

The hotel was in a very good location with a nice sea view if you pay a little bit more… shops close by and everything you need on the door step. The staff was very nice and friendly

The bed was very uncomfortable and did not really have a great night sleep. Also was a lot of stairs to get to the top for the sea view room. Need to invest with better mattress/duvet and pillows.

Staff were pleasant, pillows are soft rooms decently sized

Hotel its self was very noisy during the night everytime some one in another room moved we could hear it also the room was absolutely freezing especially on arrival and in the morning even with the little heater provided, beds were hard creaky an uncomfortable and the furniture is out dated

Close to seafront and amenities.

No staff no interaction no bar no meals needs drastic update, smelt foisty and damp carpets dirty , threadbare, door handle hanging off,room floor sticky, wallpaper falling off,had to buy air freshner and fabric freshner to mask stench,says quiet after 10pm but noisy until early hours, saw no staff for our 4 day duration,seemed to be the most run down and neglected on the block.

They new arrival time nobody about had to make phone calls 15 minuets later person turned up gave us a key said it was there day of , door lock was loose ,smell of cannabis in upstairs corridor, wifi didn't work

AVOID - BEDBUGS!!!! I booked this on behalf of my sister and fiancé as they were attending a local event nearby to join friends.Unfortunately the room reserved for them was a whole safety risk resorting in them having to leave on return from there evening event at 1am in the morning with nowhere to stay. The bedding had BEDBUGS and their feces on. Soiled bedding. Mould on the wall creating harmful spores and MORE. We have full photographic evidence of this. (I currently hold one of the images)There was no original high expectations other than a clean safe hygienic room to stay in, however my sister then had to find another hotel room and to also pay full cost. We are yet to receive full refunds and communication. Booking are aware yet they have ended communication!!!

Location was near the venue!

Where do I start? Reception was obviously part of the owners sitting area as empty cups were laying around and children’s toys.

The shower was pointless, there was not heating it was cold and no plug points anywhere

Location was perfect only 5 mins walk to the Beach , hotel looked nice on the outside and inside, bedding felt nice and soft , room got warm once we put the radiator on. Was given plenty of towels, staff were very friendly.

Didn’t like the noise at night time , kept hearing an extractor fan come on and it was so noisy , kept hearing people walk past the door and going upstairs. Only one toilet roll in the bathroom.

The chap I spoke with for some time was such a great person with a similar look on life too myself. It was a fab big room looking out too sea and not really there fault for some issues around the area

I do think a bit more care with cleaning would make a big difference

Very old and date shower was awful water just trickle out not enough sockets

Furniture could definitely do with a update and shower is not enough pressure

Location was good, room was adequate for my needs, clean and comfy.

Room was clean spacious. Staff very polite and accommodating. We were allocated top floor when I explained my partner and myself have mobility issues, reception immediately changed room to first floor which was a massive help.

Dosent even look like picture different colour building full of imigrants dirty dark dont go there

Location perfect near to centre of skeg.. Did not stay for breakfast so can.t comment on it.

We found the hotel poor on cleanliness.smell hits you as you walk to other rooms. Stained pillows. Every door was filthy. They advertised free parking but for 20 finishing 3 spaces. . I could not managed the stairs. Did not stay walked out and stayed else where

Dust round mirror No toilet paper had to buy my own for the price thought it would be included . Dusty under wardrobe.

Comfortable attic room at the top and a great seaview with balcony. Although room was small, everything was very clean and extra pillows in drawers if needed. Good hot shower plus complimentary bodywash and shampoo. Bed was comfortable, plenty of drawers and hanging space.

It would be better if the floors were carpeted in the rooms to reduce noise and a shame no lift as it's quite a climb up to the third floor, but otherwise no real complaints.

Convenient for what we wanted to do

Dirty room dust under beds. Kettle full of limescale. Beds uncomfortable.
