Pros +
- Bedroom was good size, clean
- acceptable for a single person and convenient for St Austell.
- Dinner was superb. Entire table was happy with meals. Impressed our clients that we were hosting. Staff in food service were conscious of allergy requirements and pleasant. Front desk was very helpful scheduling local taxis for us.
Cons -
- Poor service
- The first room i was given did not have a queen sized bed but two singles pushed together to look like a queen or king sized bed, that is a no no in any international traveler's book! Also, the bath was in the bedroom - literally, that is insane! The second room in the old building was much better with a queen sized bed ( a real one!) and a separate ensuite bathroom! That's what is normally expected by an international traveler. The room was small but comfortable and met my needs for a single person, but too small for two people, I think. The heating worked well but didn't look like there was air conditioning so don't know what the summer would be like in that room.
- Maybe it's an English thing, but the ham and muffin in eggs Benedict should be warm. Had it a couple times and although taste was good, the bottom was cold.

Very spacious comfortable room, great breakfast and very pleasant staff.
Lots of maintenance work going on which was disruptive. Lift only in the old house, so not great for anyone who struggles with stairs.
Staff very nice and pleasant
Lifts not working…. Bar area- dirty sticky uncleared tables…. Under staffed only one person….. carpets need replacing up stairs bad repairs done, looking very tired. It’s the second time visiting it and the bar area was the same then. Needs attention
The location is perfect for exploring Cornwall, especially Eden project, Polperro and Fowey. Nearby Charlestown has excellent restaurants at the Pier House and Springtime. Rooms were quiet (except for owl hoots) and had nice balconies.
The restaurant was pricey and food average. There is no wi fi in the rooms and phone reception is poor. The sausages at breakfast had no taste.
The location was ideal for our vacation. We enjoyed the quiet and the cool air at night.
The trek to the bedroom via an elevator and then two sets of stairs was a bit much.
The Cornwall Spa and Lodges is nice and quiet, located a bit out of town in a parkland area. Ample parking spaces are available. The Spa is o.k., pool is a good size, unless you manage to go there, when there is an Aqua Fit course happening. Then there is hardly any space for swimming, it is noisy and the water is almost rough. Staff was friendly and helpful.Good location to go to the Lost Gardens, Charlestown or Eden Project.
Our room was on the top floor in a faraway corner. The lift doesn't go up there. So a lot of walking up and down stairs and along corridors. The spa is in a separate building, so walking there in a bath robe wasn't a comfortable experience, even less so because of the wind. Especially since there was only the fire escape out of (or back into) the building on our floor. So even more walking around, only half dressed.Breakfast and dinner would be available on premise. We had breakfast there once and where rather underwhelmed. Poached eggs where more boiled than poached, smoked salmon quality was barely o.k. We opted to not repeat the experience. There is a very nice bakery just at the outskirts of St. Austell. I'd recommend their breakfast and the cornish pasties.
Good setting and location surrounded by nature. Good breakfast and attentive staff.
Last couple of nights could hear other guests chatting in to the very early hours of the morning. Perhaps through the adjoining door?
We’ve started before and we got the same top floor room which I asked for. The views of the valley from then balcony are wonderful in the morning. Excellent breakfast, great bar and very relaxing
I can’t think of anything bad at all
Everything is perfect! I recommend for everyone. Professional staff. Perfect room service, im builder so i can say the room is brilliant! The quality is high, i recommend for everyone
Smoking area is small without roof
Spa was great .Lovely staff.
The afternoon tea wasnt very good value for money. Surroundings were great. Actual products could of been more plentiful and better variety. And as always a very soft mattress. :(.
room service, food buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the pool
room decor
Very clean and perfect location. The spa pool and jacuzzi was cold and the check out time was unclear. The view from some of the rooms looked very good but ours was on the back of the building with mess grass patch, not a big deal. Staff were lovely
I just wanted to know how to cancel so I can get the money back from Booking.com
I made a mistake and booked 2 rooms instead of 1
Lovely setting, room decor great. Very quiet could hear the birds and see the rabbits on the lawn, very relaxing and enjoyed spa. Dinner very good.
room, meals, helpful staff
Our room in particular and the spa.
Thought explanations about breakfast could have been more helpful e.g unless you specifically aak for toast you have to go and get your own bread toasted.Quality of breakfast coffee was poor .Paying a supplement for Cornish coffee is not ideal. The car park close to the hotel was for drop off only but this was not a rule some people took any notice of.
The property should be ranked as a 2 or 3 star and the lodges should be advertised as privately owned. A minimum standard of upkeep should be put in place.Upon arrival there was damage through out to the walls, doors and door frames. Damage to the kitchen kick boards and fridge. Stained wall lamp, stained curtains. A liquid stain up the wall in the twin bedroom. Mould on all windows. Big cobwebs in the living. Mould and dirt in the shower seal. Chips out of the ceramic in the bath. The second bath plug didn't work. Dirty tv remotes. Only a tv in 1 bedroom. This was raised to the GM, the only action was to clean the cobwebs, nothing else was done even through we were out all day at a conference. The standard was not acceptable at all.
Not a lot
We arrived late at night, the lodge numbers are not illuminated so finding the lodge was not easy. Once inside it appeared rather worn and in real need of a refresh. The tap on the bath was loose, you couldn't turn the water off without great difficulty it just kept turning. The kitchen cabinets, etc.. are all showing their age, and the general feel is dull and dreary. The bed was comfortable enough but unfortunately it had collapsed to one side so you tended to roll towards the edge and wake up with the duvet on the floor for the most part. There were long hairs on the bath rim and on the bathroom vanity. I am practically bald so they were 100% not mine which was not great. From outside in the daylight it looks like they tried to cram as many Lodges as possible into a small space near a busy road, it doesn't feel like a country escape, more like a wooden housing complex. Some Lodges look directly into the backs of other Lodges only a few meters away. If I was on vacation and found myself in one of those I would be really disappointed.I don't quite understand the vibe?
