Good accommodation reasonably priced
Restaurant good but could improve . No orange juice left at breakfast at 8.45 ?After dinner was asked if I wanted anything else, said not at the minute. Waitress then disappeared I was going to order a coffee and a crème brûlée but she had gone. Went to the bar to pay and she just took the payment so basically lost two sales!
The reception area and food area was refurbished
I don’t know where to start the property itself was extremely outdated. The rooms were something you would see out of a horror movie and sink was blocked. The reception staff was banging on another guests room next door to me which woke me up it was almost midnight. I explained all this to the reception staff at checkout and was just given a sorry and nothing else. Dreadful hotel. Should be 1*
Location
Damp smelling, air con not working, bin not emptied with blood in it, lamp shade sellotaped together, appeared unkempt.
The parking was perfect the food was great the room was value for money
I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at Holiday Inn Basingstoke, particularly with the complete lack of accountability and communication from hotel management following a serious injury I sustained during my stay on 15 February 2025.Despite raising a formal complaint both at checkout and by email, and receiving initial acknowledgements, first aid advice to go to A&E, I have not received any meaningful response or resolution, even weeks later from management. Multiple voicemails and emails have gone unanswered.During my stay, I was burned by scalding water due to unclear and unsafe shower controls and slipped while trying to escape the hot water, injuring my ankle. The phone in the room was not connected, so I was unable to call for help. My injuries have required private physiotherapy, and I am still awaiting NHS scans for suspected ligament damage. This experience has impacted my health, my work, and forced me to withdraw from a race I had been training for.The management’s only response so far has been to say that water temperatures were within range—without providing any documentation of the checks I formally requested. There has been no acknowledgement of the physical, emotional, and financial distress caused, and no evidence of steps taken to improve safety for future guests.I am deeply disappointed by the lack of compassion and professionalism shown, by the GM - Mr Sikandar. I have asked repeatedly for a named contact at IHG head office to escalate this to IHG senior management via email to frant desk and via Booking.com, and received no reply.Guests should be able to expect basic safety, functioning room facilities, and a responsible response when things go wrong. Sadly, that was not my experience here. Can I add that this was the 2nd room we were moved to, as the first room we were checked into initially had dirtily linen, was cold, smelling of damp and had a "pop up radiator to use"... and yet the title is a...
Unsafe hotel, lack of H&S procedures, or basic customer service by the GM Mr Sikandar, who doesnt responds to emails and calls
Clean and comfortable room and nice staff plus good food
Location
Room was very small, toilet didn’t flush, it was very noisy . No power sockets by the bed no usb sockets at all
Functional, clean and well located
The breakfast was lovely and tasty. Adequate and hot.
The noise from outside corridor filter into the room.
Passable
The disability rooms are very small for a person in a mobility wheelchair and also no lift so if you had a pram or buggy you had to lift it all up to the room on the second floor, we requested a travel cot but was very dirty so didn’t end up using this at all and had to go out and grab a next to me crib for my 2 month old baby. We also thought in the disability room there would be a walk in shower but it turns out that there is a bath over the shower so people with no strength and who can’t go over a bath can not wash and only have a strip wash
location was useful.
Got given a twin room when id booked a double room. Yet double rooms were still available on the website. Room was cold - couldnt get heating to work. Found a hair in my mushrooms at breakfast, then some stuck to the sausages. Gave up with breakfast as felt a bit disgusted by this point (hairs were black and about 1 inch in length approx.
The staff were very helpful as we were held up for 3 hours near the Seven Bridge and were not going to arrive before 00:00.The room was spacious and clean. The beds were very comfortable.
Staff are very welcoming and attentive to your needs!!! Kate and Shiana was very helpful and went far and beyond to assist us in our stay !!! Everything was in place and lots of facilities including breakfast, tea and coffee sundries, comfortable bed ,shower!!!Also parking was available with registration of vehicle; great _kg1production.
Vegetable sausage at breakfast was a bit hit and miss but overall very good and tasty!!! kg1production!!!
Close to family
Very noisy during night. I could hear upstairs guest walking around during the night. Doors slamming from 6.30am. My room was 132, by the fire door mid corridor and as well as room doors being closed with a bang, the fire door also banged closed. This continued until 8.45/9am.I mentioned to reception who allowed for the inconvenience and would have a word with the persons responsible.
One night stay to visit daughter and family nearby. Very comfortable and staff very friendly and helpful.
Location, staff
Broken Air conditioning.. Couldn't switch off room 109
Staff were friendly and polite
Was given a twin room instead of a double received a phone call saying as it was a standard room they only had a twin left, on arrival we were asked if we wanted upstairs or down..The room was out dated and not very clean appeared to be feaces on the bathroom door in fact both sides of the door needed a clean. The obscure window was not very private opposit where you sat on the loo i could see out of it and no blind/curtain.we could hear every single person closing doors, walking about and noises that should have been private all in all hardly slept at £131 for the night It was not value for money and breakfast was not included.
