    • This is a beautiful location. The old cottage hotel is the epitome of "quaint." Every staff person I encountered was super friendly and nice!
    • There was a young woman staff member who was exceptional. Everything was very comfortable. Coffee was great. We had a lovely conversation with a tradesman in the parking lot! The pub atmosphere was fun.
    • lovely room, excellent breakfast, very nice bar and restaurant, excellent parking and very friendly staff.

    Cons -

    • If staying here, you must understand its an old building, so it was very creaky.
    • It would have been very convenient if the hotel could have arranged transportation to Highclere.
    • room was a little cold and took a while to warm up but that was a very minor issue

It was quiet and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was pretty good and I loved the room layout.

Brilliant location for a Remembrance Service at the Sandham Memorial Chapel. The rooms are in a mature building and are all different, but with in my case a very smart modern en suite. The staircase to the 1st floor rooms is steep and narrow, but entirely manageable. The staff were both friendly and helpful at all times, and the draught beer ,(Arkell's), was enjoyable and surprisingly inexpensive.

The rai, but I can't blame the pub hotel for that

Ground floor room perfect for us and our dogs. Lovely and quiet, nice meadow to walk the dogs. Ambience and staff superb, food delicious. Will return as it's convenient to stay when we visit our family nearby.

    Nothing to dislike, everything perfect.

The people were amazing, super friendly, and helpful. There was a super narrow stairwell, but they helped me with my luggage so it was all good. The food was delicious and the grounds beautiful. Super close to Highclere Castle.

The narrow stairwell, but it was fine as they helped with the luggage. I stayed in the older building and it was fine. They have done a good job fixing it up and modernizing considering the age of the building.

Very close to Hiclere, great food (breakfast was huge), free parking right by our room. Staff let us in our room a little early. We had been up about 27 hours at that point.

Cozy cottage space on the property, tastefully decorated and finished. Easy to access and spacious.

I’m not a “two taps in the sink” person. Not a big deal I just think a single tap allows one to adjust water temperature better.

Really friendly and helpful staff, delicious food and accommodation suitable for our overnight stay

    9JuliePosted on: 5-28-2025

We really enjoyed our stay. The rooms were comfortable, clean and quiet after a long36 hr travel day with no sleep. The dinner was good, as was breakfast the next morning. The staff were accommodating and cheerful. The Hotel is in a great location for our needs. It was a great choice for us.

Wonderful people, cozy location, homey feel!

Some minor maintenance issues, to be expected given the facility age

Perfect for an overnight stay with our dog. Staff extremely friendly and welcoming. Ate in dog friendly pub and had lovely meal.Very good value for money money.

A little noisy above (creaky floorboards) but due to the nature of the building and it didn't disturb us too much
