Pros +
- The reception staff were very friendly and welcoming, and whilst the hotel itself isn’t particularly large, it had a lovely cosy but contemporary feel (we visited at the end of November so it was in the Christmas theme). The bar and dining area were really inviting and well staffed - it’s obviously popular with locals. Our eventual room had everything we needed and was quiet, despite partially overlooking the main road. The bed was very comfortable and there was a lovely powerful shower.Breakfast was absolutely delicious with plenty of choice - we’d stay again!
- Great staff Great food Nothing was too much for the staff to ask for Great room, stayed 2 nights and both rooms were great and also very clean.
- Very welcoming, cosy feel. Good location.
Cons -
- As we arrived a little early our room wasn’t ready. When we returned later our superior room had been given to someone with supposed mobility issues, (none of the rooms are on the ground floor and there’s no lift!) The only 2 superior rooms left overlooked enormous, very noisy extractor fans above the kitchen, constantly, emitting strong food smells. We ended up having to downgrade our room to a much smaller but quieter one but no refund was offered for the cost difference.
- That somebody took the loft room for the first night of the stay before me
- Very narrow entrance to the carpark and very little space for manoeuvring in and out of spaces once in there.

Very welcoming, cosy feel. Good location.

A gorgeous overnight stay in this very comfortable, welcoming hotel. Well appointed cosy room, lovely & warm in deepest January (in fact had to turn the radiator right down!), had more than everything we needed. Really comfortable bed and pillows. Enjoyed time in the lounge/bar area, beautiful breakfast. Had 3 rooms booked, all excellent. Very friendly helpful staff. Loved the feel of the hotel, olde worlde charm with excellent facilities. Great location to explore lovely Shrewsbury.
Slightly noisy outside room 12 overnight from something coming out of the kitchen we think. Not a big problem at all though.
Location, staff helpfulness & the food was excellent
Parking
Lots of cosy public areas to relax and mix. Comfortable warm bedroom - lovely bath. Great breakfast and bistro was a great choice for evening meals - interesting and tasty.
Sunday evening meal was traditional Sunday lunch - bit heavy for us - the Bistro and restaurant choices on previous evening were excellent
Super smart hotel/pub
Struggled with access to car park so settled nearest NCP
I had an early meeting and was able to prebook my breakfast, it was ready for me when I arrived at 7am. Lovely staff.
Every member of staff was very helpful and positive - evidence of good staff training. Staff seemed to work as a team happily, creating a great atmosphere. The downstairs area was interestingly laid out and furnished, giving different areas for more cosy relaxation. Our experience of Dinner, Bed and Breakfast was exceptional, with an excellent chef.
The style and comfort of it, it was also very conveniently located.
We had steak for dinner and it was chewy and overcooked. The cooked breakfasts were unpleasant, my partner had a full English which was over cooked, he couldn’t cut through the black pudding and I had an omelette which looked and tasted like a rolled up bath mat. Luckily the pastries were edible.
Freshly cooked. Good choices
Staff in the wine bar weren’t very friendly.
Excellent location in central Shrewsbury beautiful building. Food v high quality. Staff exceptional
Slightly noisy (but what do you expect on a high st) v narrow car park entrance (but quaint)
Lovely place, nice atmosphere in the bar and restaurant hole place was exceptionally clean, food was fantastic and every member of the staff were welcoming friendly and very proficient in their roll.Would recommend this hotel.
Mattress could have been comfier maybe a little deeper.
I love the style and design. It is so clean and simple but warm and cosy. The staff are so kind and welcoming.
There is nothing that I did not like.
Quality and presentation of food. Enjoyed the crackling on the belly of pork and the crème Brule tart was exceptional. An excellent experience.
The price was high which meant we could only dine there once during our stay.I booked through Booking.com who undersold your property in their description. There was no mention of the fully equipped kitchen which meant we didn't take best advantage of the facility available.
Beautiful hotel with lots of charm, great location, wonderful staff and excellent food.
My room was a ground floor studio not attached to the hotel buta short walk from the main hotel. Not particularly comfy and quite noisy with traffic at the junction close to my room.
Friendly staff, very comfy bed
Towel rail in bathroom not heating up, so bit cold in there.
Beautiful Boutique Hotel Decor/Furnishings & Layout Excellent friendly professional staff & I enjoyed the Breakfast & Evening Menu choices.
The windows in Room 7… being unable to open the windows ( far to heavy for me & when I was able to open slightly I closed due traffic noise ) and was a bit scary Health & Safety wise.. is it a listed building therefore unable to replace original ones ? If I rebooked again perhaps there’s a room at the back which may be different. Shower door/base may need some work as will deteriorate more and not be pleasant letting the lovely bathroom down Everything else I found really
We liked the cosy feel of the hotel, the way it was decorated and our room had everything that we needed. We particularly liked the restaurant area with its log burner and the dinner bed and breakfast deal was good value.
Only a minor thing but our room was very warm and we couldn't seem to open the secondary double glazing to access the window.
Spacious modern comfortable and close to all amenities
Nothing really, just a trivial thing….entrance to car park very tight for my car price could’ve been a bit lower ha ha
