About
In the heart of historical Shrewsbury, The Prince Rupert Hotel offers period features and traditional charm. Once home to Prince Rupert, the timber-framed hotel features a health club and 2 restaurants. The Royalist Restaurant serves creative dishes using seasonal produce, and is decorated with original tapestries and suits of armor. The more casual Chambers Brasserie features an open fire and oak paneling, and serves a traditional British menu. The elegant rooms have private bathrooms and tea and coffee facilities. Rooms also feature a TV, hairdryer and free luxury toiletries. Wi-Fi is accessible throughout, and room service is also available. Many rooms have period features, including exposed beams and sloping ceilings. Prince Rupert Hotel is centrally located in the town center, surrounded by a maze of cobbled streets and historical buildings. The medieval Shrewsbury Castle is just 5 minutes’ walk, and The Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery is less than 1640 feet away.

The location, the breakfast, the experience
Very friendly staff. Was clean and quirky . Breakfast was very nice .
Nothing was all lovely .
Perfect central location everything we wanted to see and do was within walking distance. The hotel was very welcoming as were all the staff. The cooked breakfast was good although my husband thought that beans and black pudding should be added. Lots of other choices too.
The decor is a little tired in the rooms and if possible a king size bed would be better although room size might prevent this as they are small/cosy.
Great location, lovely staff and excellent breakfast.
Rooms a little dated...
We were thrilled to be upgraded to a suite when we arrived, such a lovely surprise! The room was spacious, really comfortable, and the four‑poster bed was a wonderful bonus. The hotel’s central location is perfect for exploring Shrewsbury, and with the car park only a short walk away, everything felt very convenient.Check‑in was a really nice experience too. We were offered a complimentary glass of sherry and a member of staff kindly showed us to our room, which made us feel very welcome. Our stay included breakfast, which was great, plenty of cereals, pastries, and fruit, plus a tasty cooked breakfast with options to suit most people. The staff were friendly, and I’m sure they would happily do their best to help with any requests outside the main menu.
friendly staff at reception arrived early but this wasn't an issue helpful advice over car parking evening meal was goodliked the company when dining and at breakfast of the 2 knights !!!room was warm
We had a very warm welcome, and all the staff were friendly and helpful during our stay. We ate in the restaurant, having a delicious meal and very delicious wine. Our room was fine, old fashioned but with a very new bathroom.
There is no parking at the hotel and you have to pay for parking nearby, but if you have luggage, this is an issue with the cobbled roads and streets to bring a case. The access road shuts at certain times so you can't even drop your stuff off. I ended up decanting clothes etc into a supermarket bag that I could put over my shoulder. The bar is very limited in what it offers (and I think it is expensive), but to emphasise, the staff are brilliant.
Very welcoming from the owners and staff.great food and staff
Car parking off site a bit of a fag but we coped.
The hotel was in a nice historic part of Shrewsbury and the staff were friendly and helpful. The bedrooms were basic but comfortable.
The building is very old so soundproofing between rooms is poor. This may not be the best hotel for a light sleeper. The lock on the hotel bedroom door was old-fashioned and an intruder got into the room in the early hours of the morning. Local police are investigating and until security for individual bedrooms is improved I couldn't recommend the hotel.
Central location, friendly reception staff, decent breakfast
Stuffy atmosphere, old-fashioned decor, not good value for money.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The service and food in the restaurant were exceptional. The room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable.
Great location.Love the historical features
Breakfast was a big Big let down
Location, great breakfast and friendly staff
Bed uncomfortable, bathrooms had been refurbished and looked great but not all working correctly
The staff were lovely as they were last year when we went. The breakfast is great, served in a beautiful restaurant.
What I didn’t like?… I had to leave and go to work on the Monday.
Lovely overall - nice greeting with a sherry. Breakfast was great and the table service staff were top class.
