Inn On The Prom At The Fernlea Hotel

Room and location were fine and breakfast was very good.

The lift was broken when we returned to the hotel and the following morning when we checked out. I have mobility issues which make stairs challenging so this was unwelcome.

Enjoyed the pool etc and the bar in the front for the kite festival.

We were on the other side of the kite festival and miles away from the reception.

good location ,easy parking , excellent staff , clean room. Excellent breakfast.

heating in the room far too high , windows opened , unable to switch off heating . Made a request to staff . We were provided with a small fan which did not help. slept on top of the sheets until 03.00 . the heating made the room uncomfortable to get to sleep'. Others in the hotel we spoke to also agreed the heating was too high. Everything else WRT our stay was excellent.

We liked the excellent breakfast. We liked the excellent location. Staff were friendly and unhelpful especially the breakfast team. Had a swimming pool and sauna and gym. Foyer is comfortable and bar staff are attentive and helpful. Showers were hot and nice.

Difficult to get in the rotating door with a lot of luggage which needed a good cleaning system. Our room was very smelly (sewage?), had to complain twice before given another room, which was much better. But no help offered in moving our luggage to the other room. Cobwebs in both rooms and the corridors. Skirting boards were also filthy. Lack of hooks and a shelves and storage in the en suite bathroom.

Communication from staff, signage and instructions on pool facilities & other activities poor. Booking.com description, described as sauna in room, no sauna in room, a sauna was on site but more like a shed. Room condition poor, dusty and rusty areas, Very worn room, bathroom requires replacing. Wi-Fi supplied free as of charge but very poor.

It was confusing to get back to the main reception area from the bedrooms at the very back of the hotel. They need more signs with an arrow saying reception this way. Breakfast was good. The bathrooms were very dated in the family room, a Blue bath tub shower in the bathtub no separate one. No shampoo or conditioner minis to use. No air con and WiFi was very poor kept dropping in d room.

Breakfast ok, good choice, meal in restaurant average, went out the next night.

Pool was cold heat pump broken, so couldn’t use, gym was in a very thin room crammed with equipment, approx 8-9 pieces. Nothing like what was shown in the photos. Hotel front and Reception was nice, then it went down hill!! Room - broken and chipped and broken kitchen work tops as dressing table and clothes unit, bath chipped full length of bath. Skirtings dirty, bathroom floor, dusty behind toilet, I would not walk on any of the floors without something on my feet. Needs a complete refurb and clean in bedrooms and corridors. Glass was dirty and the lift glass walls hadn’t been cleaned since??

We liked most things about our stay. The room was great. Breakfast was super. Catered for children. The evening entertainment was spectacular!

The pool area felt extremely neglected. It was cold in the area and the pool wasn't a desirable temperature. This was the only thing that let the venue down as we booked specifically somewhere with a pool area. I would go again to the hotel but not for this facility unless they sorted it out.

Main reception area lovely but in our case cant speak for anybody else ,we were on 1st floor it needs a bit of attention ,when something needs a bit of a refurb which is not always possible it would help more if it was cleaner looking,especially the corridor that took you to the treatment spa,it would put you off which is sad really ,,my room was shabby chic style ,the lighting was dull ,and an assortment of light switches that worked some lights but not others.maybe there are nicer rooms or better parts of hotel i can only comment on my own experience .
