Stayed in a family room (no.101). Accommodation was fantastic, really it should be called a suite with 2 completely separate bedrooms. Super comfy beds and pretty quiet (except when next door put the TV on full blast!).We ate there in the evening and had breakfast, food recommended.with great choice for vegetarians. Just have to mention that the staff work really hard and sometimes looked like they were rushed off their feet, they certainly earned their wages.
Not much really.
Room was comfortable, breakfast was fine.
Food in the evening was over cooked and service was very slow.
Staff lovely, loved the Christmas decorations, room very clean.
There was nothing i didn't like
Great location near the station and bars. Free parking over the road from the hotel. Decent food.
The room was absolutely freezing, we could not turn up the heating at all.
Really surprising well restored listed building but with modern feeling sizeable rooms and good beds. The staff were really excellent and the check in smooth. The car parking was easy. One of the finest full english breakfasts I've had in a hotel in a very long time.
Bit of noise from the room next door but this is a hazard of period buildings. Window very hard to open and shut.
Friendly staff, welcoming on arrival. Quick check in
It was a great hotel it’s a very old building but it’s very nice and clean
Some of the features are unique and have stayed the same for years and kept in good condition
Lovely hotel,
Modern, comfy stay and good food
Great room. Good food and Bar.
Very noisy early morning in yard at back.
The staff were friendly and welcoming and the room was clean and spacious. But the best thing was the bed! It was so comfortable. The location of the hotel was perfect for us. We didn’t eat at the hotel, although the food looked and smelt gorgeous, but we did have a drink in the bar where they have a large selection and the price was reasonable too.
Not a dislike. But when booking 2 rooms for the same price they should be the same standard. Although the hotel did offer to move one of the couples to a larger room which they declined as we were only here for one night.
Location was great for me. Lovely building inside and out. Great bar.Arrived midday and asked for car park permit and was checked in and given access to room then. Room had gorgeous bath.
Lift out of order but these things happen.
Friendly, helpful staff who went above and beyond to accommodate us. Excellent meals with brilliant service.
The toilet paper in the executive suites was surprisingly low quality for the room it was catering to.
Comfortable, clean, good food, great staff and really close to the train station.
The staff are all fantastic, welcoming, very friendly, a very high standard Hotel, great location, good parking, close to the Train Station. Super comfy bed and a great room, would definitely stay again.. The food is of a very high standard too and delicious, rates are good…
The staff were very helpful, the bar is fantastic and it was completely clean.
The hotel itself is very old but very beautiful. Rooms were brilliant, even the cheapest room we booked was great with plenty of space and good facilities. Bathroom was fantastic, big and clean.Bed was so comfy, don't think I've ever slept in a bed that comfortable. It's a good location if you have a car and want to drive up to the lake district national park. There is also tesco and a few pubs just round the corner including weatherspoons. The only thing I will say (and maybe this was just our room) but there was a large gap under the door, about 3 fingers wide although I did feel very safe. Other than that the stay was perfect and I would definitely return. Good value for money.
